E. Lynn Harris: Too Good to be True?
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Atlanta’s E. Lynn Harris has always been an overachiever. When he attended the University of Arkansas, he was the school’s first black yearbook editor and the first black male Razorbacks cheerleader.
He sold computers for a while, but soon found his calling: popular fiction. Starting with “Invisible Life,” he has rattled off a string of novels, which increasingly have placed higher and higher on best-seller lists.
His latest is “Just Too Good to be True, but it’s not his autobiography. He’ll be at the Stonecrest Mall Borders in Lithonia at 7 p.n. tonight (July 24) singing and melting the ladies’ hearts. Come on, you know who you are! Expect lines, so come early.

He may be melting ladies’ hearts, but its too bad he’s lusting after their boyfriends instead of them…..

Could you be any more in the dark or are you winking at yourself in the mirror? E. Lynn is well known as one of the region’s and nation’s leading gay authors. He may be singing tonight, but it won’t be for the ladies. It is too good to be true.

I just don’t care to read about gay love affairs. No thanks!

E. Lynn Harris is a great writer. Yes, some of his writings are about gay love but they also give heterosexuals a perspective they may not otherwise get exposed to. I am a heterosexual woman and will continue to read his novels.

I am quite relieved to know that there will be one less ignorant, close-minded moron at the book-signing tonight. News Flash: E. Lynn doesn’t write for you and your absence will not be noticed. He writes for all the gay men and women whose love for each other continues to be marginalized, discounted and shunned. If you do happen to show your self, please raise your hand so I can step squarely on your foot.

I a E Lynn Harris Fan!!! I have read every single book he has written. I even stood in line for two hours with a broke foot to get him to sign one of the books. It doesn’t matter if he is singing to me or my man he is an AWESOME writer!!!!

To the best of my knowledge, which is admittedly quite imperfect, Mr. Harris has not made any public statement about his preferences in these matters. So I wrote the item aware of what is widely said, but also aware that he has a very intense female following that adores him no matter what his preferences. Fair enough?
