Big Art Stories
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

Artinfo.com has come out with its list of top art stories of 2007. Most of the big stories were all about money — crazy money — in the art world, like the $100 million Damien Hirst diamond-encrusted skull entitled “For the Love of God,” which won Most Notorious Artwork of 2007.
Then there’s the record $73 million paid for a Mark Rothko painting at Sotheby’s, followed by other huge auction prices for contemporary art. Then came the subprime mortgage crisis, which seemed to have absolutely no effect on the skyrocketing art market. Artinfo predicts that this party will continue in 2008.
