Usher Apologizes For Criticizing Chris Brown?
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Atlanta R&B superstar Usher has issued a statement apologizing for the comments he made toward Chris Brown, which appeared in a video posted by his longtime Atlanta producer Jermaine Dupri.
“The comments made during a recent recording session amongst friends were taken out of context and blown out of proportion,” the statement reads. “I apologize on behalf of myself and my friends if anyone was offended. The intentions were not to pass judgment and we meant no harm. I respect and wish the best for all parties involved.”
The comments from the five-time Grammy winner in what appears to be Dupri’s Atlanta studio were in regards to pictures of Brown (above) that emerged over the weekend, showing him hanging out with friends and riding a jet ski during what reports have called his “reconciliation” weekend in Miami with Rihanna.
(Whom Atlanta singer-songwriter Johnta Austin refers to in the video as “the brand new Ike and Tina of our generation.”)
“I’m a little disappointed,” Usher says in the video, part of Dupri’s “Living the Life” series on YouTube. (This particular clip BELOW features “The Ocean 5,” as Usher, Dupri, Austin, Bryan-Michael Cox and — Tyrone?— refer to themselves).
Usher — who is relatively quiet throughout the clip, as compared to Austin and Cox — says that instead of riding around on a jet ski, Brown should “have a little bit of remorse” for his allegedly violent incident with Rihanna. (Brown was charged with two felonies today for the alleged incident on February 8, when a police detective said a brutal argument between the singers occurred after a pre-Grammy party in Los Angeles).
“After the other photo [of Rihanna’s bruised face posted by TMZ last month]? C’mon, Chris. Have a little bit of remorse, man. The man’s on jet skis? Like, just relaxing in Miami?”
Most of the video, however, shows the guys clowning around in rather loose, and occasionally profane fashion — including insulting a recent photo of singer Christina Milian (above) shot at the Atlanta Hawks/Cleveland Cavaliers game. (See the rest of our gallery from that star-studded game this past weekend).
After you watch it, tell us do you think Usher said anything to apologize for?

I do not think he had to apologize for anything. Look at the picture of C-Breezy on the jetski. Does he look like he cares? NOPE.

First of all Usher of all people should not criticize Chris Brown or anyone in a public forum. Considering his confession of cheating on Chilli of TLC with his song Confessions. His follow up to Confessions was a flop and he isn’t getting much radio play so he has to do what he has to stay in the light. So he without sin cast the first stone, Usher.

Chris Brown is an animal and should be treated as such. People don’t get charged with stuff like that for nothing. He obviously has issues accepting responsibility. Sadly, I get the impression that his mom is protecting him too. It he were my child, I’d take him to jail myself. Normal people don’t do stuff like what he did. I don’t care how young, old, or angry you are. Come’on! Get real people…

I don’t think Usher has anything to apologize for. The video just shows a bunch of fellas having a good time and some laughs. Compared to the guy doing the boxing moves, Usher was reserved.

“Taken out of context and blown out of proportion”, which means “I didn’t think he/she was going to get mad about what I said. I better apologize before they stop inviting me to their parties.”

How long is suppose to be remorseful????? We need to stop passing judgement on him. The media can take any situation total out of context. Again please note that I am not saying he is right all I am saying is that he is “HUMAN”

How long is he supposed to be remorseful? Are you kidding me? CB can be remorseful until the cows come home. In other words, for the rest of his natural life.
If someone is bad* enough to do the crime, let him/her pay through the nose.
When are we as a society gonna stop all the coddling of violent offenders? Let’s not judge his actions? Are you kidding me? So, if someone rammed your car, you’re not gonna “judge”? Give me a break!
If it were YOUR child’s face that he beat up, would you be this consoling?

Hi everyone, I’m sorry for calling Chris Brown an Animal, it’s just that I had a hard childhood and his case brought back memories of My Dad Kicking my mom’s teeth down her throat! Everyone deserves the right to a fair trail and Chris Brown is innocent until proven guilty!

It’s actually none of anyone’s (here) business. It was none of our children that he allegedly brutalized. She has one set of parents. You guys think he should be remorseful to “you,” when it has nothing to do with you. You don’t know him and he doesn’t know you. The guy up the street is probably slapping his wife around as I type. You couldn’t care less.

I don’t know why Usher has to apologize. He didn’t do anything. People will always say he is jealous of Chris Brown and probably NeYo and any other young R&B singer that comes along. Stick with your opinion Usher, you are entitled to it. Now this Johnta Austin, whom I am sure is related to Dallas Austin, goes a bit too far but still, nothing crazy. Just guys shooting the SH$T….Move on everyone and Usher, Johnta, Jermaine Dupree, and the rest, keep making good music. CHRIS BROWN is the person that did the wrong thing. Don’t make excuses for him and don’t get mad at others for having an opinion.

I’ve had it with everyone in the music industry giving this situation such a “politically correct” spin. Chris Brown should feel remorse and no one should apologize for telling him just that!! He’s a kid with some serious issues that he’d better address now or he’s in for a world of torment. And everyone dancing around and walking on eggshells only reinforces his negative behavior (and that includes Rihanna going back to him). Tell this guy he’s full of crap and needs to accept responsibility for his actions and if his talent is REAL, he’ll still have a career>

I do not necessarily agree with Russell. Many people buy Rihanna and Chris’ music, watch them on award shows and purchase concert tickets. So in some retrospect, it is the public’s business. Don’t get me wrong, I do not agree that TMZ and other shows publicized her picture; that definitely is private, but it is good for us to know what is going on.
I do believe that Chris needs to lay low and really get counseling. He also should take responsibility for his actions. It is obvious that he has had some type of traumatic experience as a child; so therefore he is repeating what he saw. But at the same rate, he knows it’s wrong to abuse someone.
I believe Rihanna needs to stay away from him and also seek counseling and find out her self worth. She is young, beautiful and talented and deserves better.
My wish for them both is to really take some time to heal. Chris needs to find a psychologist and just spill his guts. He’s hurting and hiding behind some past issues; he needs to open up and discuss them so that all of that anger can cease. Rhi Rhi needs to do the same, because obviously she has battered women syndrome. I hope after they are healed and stronger that they both rise to the top of their game and do what they love; perform and entertain the world. God bless them!

Everybody’s making an example out of Chris Brown. Domestic Violence is NOT new! And it’s not going anywhere until women stop taking it and laws change. Men who beat women are always attracted to the type of women that will allow it. So, why aren’t the women held accountable too. Not in all cases, but in too many, women allow this mess to happen to them in front of their children and it happens again and again. They are participants in their drama in a lot of cases. We’re in the 21st century, women should not feel they have to allow abuse. There’s all kinds of shelters and help. Of course, there are many cases where men are just monsters. These types of men would never be attracted to someone like me because I’m not the type of female to be controlled and handled. And then you have women that push and shove men and feel like they can be up in his face acting out their anger. Are women ever going to be held responsible for their part in the mess? Women abuse children all day every day…I guess no light will be shed on these issues until a celebrity is caught and then we can make an example out of them. I’m not saying Chris Brown was right in any way shape or form, but I don’t think at this point he’s the monster everyone’s depicting and should not lose his career. I’m hoping this was his wake up call and he’ll get the help he desperately needs and the young lady obviously needs help too.
There was a time when men were the only monsters in our society and that’s definitely not the case anymore. The laws need to be changed to hold everyone accountable. And you know in order to build a case the strongest language is used to create the most foul image of the person. And when someone has been in an altercation they make it sound 10 times worse than it was. I’m truly not making accuses for this young man, but to read the blogs and listen to the media you’d think this was the worst case ever of domestic violence. True, it shouldn’t have happened at all but we all know it does.
I can bet you all of the people that are trying to crucify this young man has done something equal or greater in their lives. He’s young, give him a chance to get help before killing him. If he were older and had a history of abuse, I’d say something different. I do agree that he should show remorse, but I think he’s too immature to get it, but the people in his camp need to make him take anger management classes, do some community service and perhaps some kind of domestic violence commercials or something like that to help young men and women that are experiencing this. He could be used for a good cause IF he’s remorseful. If I were his mama, he’d be doing all of the above. I’d have his butt sitting down in a rap session with young men and women and discussing domestic violence showing the men why it’s wrong and won’t be tolerated and showing the females how they shouldn’t be allowing this. If a guy hits you once, he’ll do it again. Don’t let him get comfortable with that, make him accountable, shut him down, move on. Men can’t do this unless women allow it (in some cases). Again, there are some monsters out there, but a man should only do this to you once because you’re unsuspecting, but after that first time, get the hell out! These are the things (and more) that should be discussed in an open forum.
I know it sometimes goes deeper than this, but this is the best I can do for a blog ;)

Usher is fine. All comments on that video are fine. Actually, it was amusing. Usher was merely discussing that it was a bad move and definitely a bad business move. I don’t think Chris thought that through… like most young people don’t think about the aftermath and what it means in the long run. For those of you who think that they were making light of the situation? You are right but don’t be so self righteous just yet. The references to Ike and Tina and the boxer bounce was done to highlight what that person personally felt about the situation between Chris Brown and Rhianna. Most tragic situations including national tragedies old and new; our wars; our financial economic worries - we Americans are desensitized and we do it with humor. Relax… the people involved will get their due via the legal process. And Chris and Rhianna going back together is not a new story in the history of domestic violence. Trust that they will both figure out their young selves and act accordingly albeit splitting up or counseling - And yes, check out Ike and Tina!

i agree with Reign. Domestic Violence is new, and although Chris had NO RIGHT to put his hands on Rhianna - he still desreves to get some help and a chance. Get real folks this is probably not the first time he put his hands on Rhianna - yet she stayed. She is not a victim, she has her OWN career, her OWN money, and her OWN home. She is choosing to stay with a man that is doing this to her. I blame her as well for not just leaving someone with that type of temper alone. Secondly, i also agree that it isn’t our business and just because we buy their stuff doesn’t make it our right to be apart of their lives. it is all about media and their perspective - let’s remember neither of them is talking. As for Usher, no need to apologize - you said what you felt. However, my grandmother used to say something a long time ago..there are two things - the caught and the uncaught - meaning that chris got caught but this is happening every day and others haven’t been. He is wrong for man handling - she is wrong for staying. there are three sides to this story - his side - her side - and somewhere in there lies the truth

I think the media has just blown this out of control. We don’t know what happen, but we are to quick to judge. They are both young and they got into a fight, and now we are quick to put this young man down.
I bet have of you on this blog, were really in to his singing and concerts, now you can’t stand him. Please we need to know both sides and STOP PUTTING THIS YOUNG MAN DOWN. YOU KNOW ITS A LOT OF WOMEN OUT THERE WHO ALSO FIGHT MEN AND TELL LIES TOO.

Boy I tell you, just read the comment from that chump BravesFan79, many of you black men have the same attitude about our women. BavesFan79 and the rest of his crew put their women on a pedistal, while some of you black men act like Uncle Ruckus. Some of you black men would probably be more upset if it was Brad beating on Angelina. Some of you are pathetic excusses for men. Mike R. Usher cheating on is different from Chris Brown beating on Rhianna. When you as a grown man meet a grown woman, you have prblems in your relationship, put she is grown. The only man that has a right to beat a female is a father disciplining his daughter. But, that father will no longer hit her after she is considered grown. You never hit a grown woman, She is what she is when you meet her. If you can’t get along with her you move on. If she gets on your nerves as women sometimes do, be the man in the relationship and do not touch that women out of anger. Usher was right on with what he said about Chris Brown and Chris Brown will have remorse after they lock him up. Those two felonies will stick, he will do some time and he should.

God’s Perfect Creation.
Leonardo Da Vinci painted The Mona Lisa, Many have flocked to The Louvre to marvel at its beauty. Man looks at what Da Vinci created and exclaims, The Mona Lisa is truly, A beauty that has no equal. After many years of hearing this and Feeling sadden that man has disappointed him once again, God became angry. For all the beautiful things in the world that God has created, From the majestic appeal of the Grand Canyon, To the mystic appeal of Mt. Everest. None of mans best can compare to Gods least. But yet, man continues to worship other man made objects, As if they were heavenly projects, That was created by God himself. To show man the true essence of beauty, God said “I will create the perfect woman”. God made her skin brown like bronze and Smooth as silk, to entice man to touch her. God made her soft as the clouds, So when any man touched her, He would feel as if he was as close to heaven that man could be, But no man will reach heaven until that final Day of Judgment When only great men who’s Greatness is measured only in the eyes of God Souls will be set free Her eyes were brown and dreamy, So when any man looked into her eyes, He would get lost in the moment. He would loose all feelings and contact with earthly matters, And feel the serenity that heaven offers. He made her bosom ample, And her hips wide So that when man saw her he would know that from this creation, That could only come from God, Comes the creation of life. After completing this woman God waited til what he deemed the right time to send this woman. Then, God sent an Angel to deliver her. She was placed into the world during a time that is filled with Hate Violence, War, Despair, Evil and Wickedness. So that when man saw her he would be touched by that beauty, And his troubled world would be filled with tranquility. But, many men are so filled with self hate they cannot see the purpose or beauty of that woman. The woman that God created That perfect woman, that God created. Some men even hate that woman And abuse that woman But, then again those are only shells of men Those so called men are totally lost Lost in earthly matters, Lost in worldly opinions, They have adopted vanity as their religion I was once a shell of a man until I met that perfect woman When I saw her silky smooth bronze skin, I had to touch her. When I touched her she was as soft as a cloud I knew at that time I was as close to heaven As any man can be Her touch inspired me To want to become a great man so that on the final day of judgment My soul will be set free. When I looked into her eyes, I got lost in the moment I saw the serenity that heaven has to offer. When she gave herself to me and I tasted her ample bosom, And felt that warmth of the womanhood between her wide hips. I realized that from her, This creation that can only come from God Comes the creation of life. So, at that time I then began to appreciate my life. And the effect that woman have on my life At that moment, I grew from being a lost soul To becoming a real man, all because of that woman, That perfect woman, that God created. The meaning of Da Vinci’s creation Is left to the interpretation, Of those who have seen it. There is no doubt about the meaning of God’s perfect creation That perfect woman was sent to earth to give life, To a world that was dead To give warmth to a world that was cold To give beauty to a world that lacked true beauty To turn lost souls, into real men Da Vinci called his creation The Mona Lisa God called his creation, The Black Woman.

Thank you Skee, Reka, no one is perfect, we all have our vices. But, by no means should we condone a man physically or mentally abusing a woman. We as men have to start standing up for our women. We as a people sometimes seem so dysfunctional because of the way our women are treated by us and the rest of society. Our women are the backbone of our people. They have done the best they can to carry a burden that us men were put on this earth to carry. But, so many men will not carry that burden because of the their attitudes which Chris Brown have exemplified. You know Reka that there is no excuse for the way he beat that woman. No excuse at all. We must stop making excuses for people who will not change that type of destructive behavior. I am and most people are very willing to forgive Chris Brown, but, I will not make an excuse for him and in no way condone what he did. Usher was right in his criticism of Chris Brown. I think that it is insane that he apologized for those comments to appease a certain segment of the population because I bet a publicist told him that it would hurt his popularity, because all you here in popular music now is lyrics that degrade women and paint a picture a very ugly picture of a portion of black america that is less fortunate. Many musicians have sold their soul to the devil to make a few bucks and in the mist of selling their souls they sold us out as well. Obama says yes we can, But we will not until US MEN stand up and represent the way we should. Usher being a little older did the right thing by speaking out the way he did. He should have stood by his words.

You know, Usher, that thing you married, truly, that’s not it.. You should be the last person to talk about anyone. Your relationship is not all that stable either. Even though I think Superhead is the nastiest thing on earth, she put ur bizness out there when she said how you like to get rough also. Jermaine, no one wants you except Janet.. because she is desparate to have a baby, Brian Cox, gain 20 lbs, Jonte Austin, your career just started… get something before you forget where you came from…
See critizing others is easy.
What CB did was wrong, but isn’t there another side to the story? We’ve only heard what the police reported. You haven’t heard Rihanna, nor from Chris really. And if he was that bad of a person, and with all of the intervention that’s out there, and the ‘family support’ she has, she’s already back with him? Seem’s odd to me. My mother once told me, if you are woman enough to put your hands on a woman, be man enough to take a punch. Now we dont know what happen, and I dont condone abuse, but before anyone critize, know your facts. Don’t just ride the media hype. Jermaine, you said that. Its funny, how when you are not in the spot light, you can run your mouth.
And your internet show is stupid and childish.

It amazes me how many black women will make an excuse for Chris Brown and come to his defense, it is truly amazing. Further more why do so many Black Women call Usher’s wife ugly. Is it because she is a dark skinned woman with curves? I personally think she is beautiful. Did it shock you that Usher wanted a woman and not a trophy. Is it because she is not the type you imagined he would marry. I have looked up pictures of Usher’s wife to try to understand why people talk about her appearance and for the life of me. I just do not understand the negative criticism about that beautiful black woman. But most importantly, He thinks she is beautiful and that is his wife and that is all that matters.
