Sugarland, Lady Antebellum and Little Big Town Up For ACMs
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
While Sunday’s Grammy Awards were only kind to one country act with Georgia connections, it was announced today that at least six will have another chance to bring home some industy hardware — as well as two Georgia businesses.
The 44th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards will air April 5 on CBS, live from Las Vegas; and this year’s first-time Grammy winner, Sugarland (top photo), is up for top vocal duo and vocal event of the year - with Little Big Town (second photo) and Jake Owen, for “Life In A Northern Town”. Also in that latter category is Monticello’s Trisha Yearwood, for “Another Try” with Josh Turner. Lady Antebellum (third photo), Little Big Town and The Lost Trailers are competing against each other in the top vocal group category.
Plus the Zac Brown Band is contending with fellow locals The Lost Trailers in the top new vocal duo or group category — one of three newcomer categories you can vote on, starting Friday, at GACTV.com.
And Augusta station WKXC-FM is a nominee for radio station of the year (small market); while Duluth’s own Wild Bill’s has been nominated nightclub of the year.
Ever been to Wild Bill’s? Think Lady Antebellum and Little Big Town got robbed at the Grammys? Feel like the ACMs do a better job of picking winners?
