Georgia’s Early Grammy Winners: The Complete List
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Tonight’s leading Grammy nominee with Georgia connections, R&B singer-songwriter Ne-Yo, has already one of two of the six he was up for — male R&B vocal performance (“Miss Independent”) and R&B song (“Miss Independent”) — and he has plenty of metro area company:
Atlanta rapper T.I.’s “Swagga Like Us” - featuring Jay-Z, Kanye West and Lil Wayne — won rap performance by a duo or group.
One half of Atlanta country duo Sugarland, Jennifer Nettles, now has her second Grammy for penning best country song, “Stay”.
Part-time Atlantan CeCe Winans will bring home pop/contemporary gospel album for “Thy Kingdom Come”.
And “Down In New Orleans” by the Blind Boys of Alabama — which includes Atlantan Eric “Ricky” McKinnie — added a traditional gospel album grammophone to their four for “Down In New Orleans”.
