Tina Turner In Atlanta

slideshow_825513_tinaturner.1110.06.JPG

Eight years after what was supposed to be her farewell tour, Tina Turner gave a show Sunday night that without qualification, validated her return.

The voice is still there. The stamina is still there. And those legs remain every bit the signature they were when Turner first electrified the scene some four decades ago.

About 40 minutes after the start time on the ticket, the rocking soul legend appeared on the Philips Arena stage in the first of what would be a series of flattering outfits; many with splits up to, well, “Wow!” Accompanied by a seven-piece band, two background singers, four female dancers and another four-man ensemble called Ninja, Turner packed the first half of her show with many of her best-known singles: “What’s Love Got To Do With It”; River Deep, Mountain High”; “Better Be Good To Me”; and “Private Dancer”.

On her feet the whole time, that might have been enough to satisfy. But then after a too-long, 30-minute intermission, Turner reappeared seated, and reminded fans what a vocal power she continues to be as well. Three songs in, her take on “Let’s Stay Together” drew extended applause that even seemed to surprise her. “I haven’t had such a response from Atlanta, Georgia before,” Turner told the capacity crowd, which included fellow Friend of Oprah, Atlanta entertainment mogul Tyler Perry.

The second set ended with “Proud Mary” (of course), but if you left before the encores you missed out. The first was “Nutbush City Limits,” when the Nutbush, TN. native swept across the arena on a hydraulic lift, flipping that golden mane out of her eyes, stretching that red-lined mouth wide, while all the while, strutting in yet another pair of sparkling heels.

Were you there Sunday night — and if so, what did you think? (See the rest of our photo gallery HERE). Planning to go tonight, again?

Tina Turner a solid reminder of what a class act is all about. She has remained timeless and elegant throughout the years. She is the eptiomy of a true performer. Her grace, talent, showmanship, and pure brawn are ageless. She makes me proud to be a woman..and clearly demonstrates the only way you get to the top and stay there is with hard hard work and a great gift from above. Tina you rocked the Arena and quite frankly left me breathless. Finally, Finally, a performance which was worth 10 times more than the most expensive seat in the house!!!..as only Tina could do.

What a great show! She rocked Philips Arena for two hours and didn’t miss a beat, or a note for that matter. It is hard to believe Ms. Turner turns 69 this month. She is an amazing talent! I would imagine this will be her last tour, but who knows!

Absolutely hands down the best live performer ever! Have seen her in the 80’s, 90’s and 2000. She is truly amazing! No “so called” talent of today will ever measure in anyway to TINA! She is legend.

This was my first Tina show ever….and I was completely blown away through the entire set. The stage design, effects, pyro, lights, and TINA herself….it just all blew me away. I had the best time of my life, and it was deffinately worth every penny spent. Tina has such a great spirit, and she gave us her all last night. Just wish I could have been there again Monday night. This was a must see, and I’m glad I did. She was outstanding!

I was in attendance Sunday night in Phillips Arena. Next to Tina’s unbelievable performance, the Thrashers look like play school. The energy, the power…well, you finally get it. You realize you are not just watching a performance by an entertainer. You are watching a life experience!

Tina is still as amazing as she was 20 years ago when I first saw her in concert. I was with my sister and a couple of friends who had never seen her before, we were all blown away. I just wish I could have gone to Monday’s show also.

Tina did a FANTASTIC job! That woman looks amazing to be 68 years old. At 68 and can still sell out arenas is amazing. My friend & I loved the concert and were exhausted afterwards. She is one amazing entertainer. We love you Tina!

I had the GREAT pleasure of seeing Tina live in Minneapolis many years ago when she opened for Lionel Richie. She was supporting the, then, new “Private Dancer” album. She blew the place away then and she did it again last night at Philips. God bless her.

As I was watching the show Sunday night, I thought “Wow, this is a bigger show that the Stones!” The sets, the costumes, the pyros, the backup singers, the crowd involvement. Tina radiates goodwill and the voice and the legs are something to behold! She knows how to rock an arena!

OMG! Hands down one of the best performances I have ever seen. There’s not a female performer out there who can come close. Maybe Madonna….and Beyonce in 30 more years, lol. Actually, make that male or female. I am thinking that Prince has borrowed a thing or two from Ms. Tina since she was on the scene first. To be able to give what she gives after all these years is truly a gift and a blessing. Anybody hung up on youth, needs to see her show. Shows you how much we can have to look forward to if we want it.

I had the pleasure of seeing Ms. Tina for the first time in concert on yesterday. It was the best production I have ever seen. It was non-stop from beginning to end. Hard to imagine this woman is 68 years old. I have new found respect for this icon!

I went to the show Monday night and had a GREAT time. Tina put on a great show and had the crowd rocking. This is the best birthday gift that I could have given myself. I was not about to miss this show for anything. Tina is in great shape, her dance moves are still on point, and her voice is awesome. At 68 years young Tina can still give you a great show. Loved every minute of it.
