Matthew Sweet — From The Road

Today‘s Dispatch From the Road comes from the Athens-groomed, power pop favorite performing tonight at the Variety Playhouse.

Planning to go? Remember Sweet from his Athens days with Oh-OK, or Lloyd Cole? Well here’s a quick note from his iPhone, to the Atlanta Music Scene (while in Boston):

“Our tour is going wonderfully, we’ve been amazed by the turnouts of dedicated fans, and everybody seems to love the new songs too! We sell cds at the show too in case you don’t have one!:) we’re working a three guitar line-up that will blow your socks off…most of all, we now know rock as we know it is not dead by a long shot. Atlanta is my old stomping ground and we’re ready to kick out the jams there! Come on down!”

Rate T.I.’s New Video

A week ago tonight Atlanta rapper T.I. opened the BET Hip-Hop Awards performing “What Up, What’s Haapnin’ ” to near silence (at first) in the Atlanta Civic Center.

Perhaps it was because he wasn’t introduced. Perhaps it was because the single from his latest CD “Paper Trail” isn’t as familiar as his current (“Whatever You Like”) and recent (“Live Your Life,” featuring Rihanna) No. 1 hits.

Well BELOW is a little help with the latter — a YouTube clip of “What Up, What’s Haapnin’ ”. Tell us what you think.
