Tunes for Hard Times

It might be a little soon to start singing “Brother, Can You Spare a Dime?” again, but times are tough. Gas is as at an all-time high (when you can find it), foreclosures are rampant, banks are falling like dominoes, the federal government is handing out emergency bailouts like candy at Halloween. Maybe we need a new hard-times soundtrack. “Brother, Can You Spare a Dime?” (1932) is a classic, but it’s so last Depression. And that dime won’t get you very far these days, anyway.
