Lil Wayne Surpassing Big Usher Numbers?

image_7172373.jpg

Well, Atlanta R&B superstar Usher had the best first-week sales for any male artist this year until abooouuttt…now.

Since Billboard magazine reported late Wednesday that rapper Lil Wayne had sold 423,000 copies of “Tha Carter III” its FIRST day in stores, according to Nielsen SoundScan, it’s a pretty safe bet that by the time you read this - just three days after “Tha Carter III’s” official release — it’s beaten our five-time Grammy winner. (Usher, you may recall, sold 433,000 copies of “Here I Stand” its first week at retail outlets).

That kind of start also puts Lil Wayne in position to jet past the 463,000 Mariah Carey’s “E=MC2” moved its first week - the biggest seven-day tally by any act this year; and some are predicting it could even be bigger than Kanye West’s first-week top seller of 2007, “Graduation” (957,000).

And again, this is despite the fact that “Tha Carter III” has been pushed back several times, and purposefully leaked by DJs who felt disrespected by recent comments by Wayne.

Are you among the hundreds of thousands that have already picked up “Tha Carter III” — and if so, what grade would you give it? Is there any Atlanta act that you think could put out an album this year that would be received like Lil Wayne’s? A new OutKast, perhaps?

Album Rating 4.5/5 Why? This is the most hyped album of all time i think and it lives up to its expectations, Wayne pulled off the pressure to do the dirty, some fantastic songs on this album, and there are some tunes in this album that other rappers could never do, e.g. Phone home, this is the album by a musical pioneer, i wouldn’t be surprised if it sells over a million in a week. I think T.I’s album ‘Paper Trail’ could sell a few but i dont think it can match C3.

I give it a 9.33 out of 10. Every song is great. Well worth the wait. He has lots of critics who just want to be critics. But this album is very enjoyable if you love Hip-Hop like I do. If you love dissin’ a Nig#% then Lil Wayne gives you a lot to write about. And he is probably thanking you for the publicity boost because it makes people want to see what every one else is talking about.

the reason this album is a 9.5 out of 10 is cause you would expect a lil wayne album or pretty much any rappers album to have curse words every bar but he rarley cause thru the whole cd in fact i think ive heard a song from 50 cent with more cursing than lil waynes whole album

English… what are you tlaking about you probably would recognize hip hop royalty even if Sugar Hill Gang smacked you in the face. your comments are no longer need so please go comment on R. Kelly being found not guilty or something …then again you might really show your colors there to so please just put your foot in your mouth.

all in all i think this album is/was truly worth the wait my only only only only only complaiint is that the “Lollipop” remix with Kanye wasnt on here this is as classic of a southern album as Outkast Southernplayerlistic… Goodie Mob “Still Standing” or anything from UGK.

i am very proud of Lil Wayne he stayed at Cash Money played his position and stuck to the script and now he is rightfully reaping his reward and soon from what the streets are buzzing we may have a hot boyz album coming out soon.

lil wayne flow is very different and further proof that the South reigns supreme.

This album is the s**! And I’m not just riding Wayne’s dick 4 real. This is an album that has a little something for everybody. A lot of people try to compare it to his mixtapes but how can you? Mixtapes in underground, and hardcore hip-hop. This album has commercial appeal while still being able to catch the streets. If you haven’t copped tha album LEGALLY do so…cause where have you ever heard about getting over 100 songs for tha free..no artist has ever showed that much love. And tell these djs to stop hating and trying to make a living off of wayne!
