Americana Music Association award nominees

The Americana Music Association announced the list of nominees for its annual awards on Wednesday. The top nominees are James McMurtry, Robert Plant & Alison Krauss and Levon Helm, and Athens’ Drive By Truckers are among those vying for duo/group of the year. This is also a good year for the Earles. Both father Steve Earle and son Justin Townes Earle are up for awards. The ceremony will take place on Sept. 18 at Nashville’s historic Ryman Auditorium.

I think it is great that Americana is remaking its way to the music surface, and I think we are even more fortunate to be living in a place where unknown musicians like Zac Brown Band and Sonia Leigh, straight from the heart of Georgia, are representing us around the nation as the voices of home…..
