Nope. Same old same old. David Byrne’s the only one I’ll try to see.

Well, I guess the people have spoken… you’ll have to keep up with the OTP’s, and continue to get GOOD live acts. I’ll see you there…

Hells yeah! Journey and Cheap Trick in the same night. I don’t care much for Heart, but the other two are worth the drive! Rock!!!!

I love the oldies, but I have seen both BB King and Willie closer to home. The others are not my favorites. Never heard of David Byrne.

Chastain used to be cool, but the crowd killed it. Hopefully all of these new local outdoor arenas will put them out of business. Maybe they can fill the vacant space with a whole foods with plenty of parking for oversized SUV’s. One more thing, James Taylor is awful. Yes, I said it.

JOURNEY is not Journey unless Steve Perry is singing…only a cheap imitation of what they once were.

I agree with Robert. Hopefully places like the new Verizon Ampitheatre will put Chastain and the “wine and cheese” crowd out of business. Chastain blows big time thanks to the old fart, wrinkle skinned, wine drinking crowd.
Bye bye Chastain.

I wish I could see a full Cheap Trick concert without Journey and Heart. As it is, I don’t think I would pay the amount of $$ they are charging for a shortened CT show.
I also would go see B.B. King if it wasn’t for the fact that I would have to sit through Willie Nelson. Now that is a wierd billing.

I dream of building an AmpitheatreAdjacent to Stonecrest Mall. Plenty of restaurants, hotels and parking. Easy excess to I-20.

Lyle Lovett and Tony Bennett put on great shows, but why go to Chastain where people will talk over their entire sets when these artists could play The Fox Theater and be given the respect they deserve by true fans of their music?
The only artists worth seeing at Chastain are those who bring the noise - electric guitars and all - so they drown out the people who so desperately want to be ‘seen’ and, apparently, ‘heard’ over the performers.

Chastain is a great venue..Yes the crowd does suck and who really wants to play dinner theater? BUT it is centrally located for everyone and you can bring in your own drinks which to me is cool. Not many venues in the country allow that. IF chastain did close we all would lose because who really wants to drive to Alpharetta and mess with that traffic!
Whoever is booking these acts needs to be fired and have more variety, etc. The 2nd series is just God Awful! This is 2 years in a row that the lineup is just awful. Now BB King is good but last year you could see that age has affected his playing.

David Byrne and Allman Bros….the only 2 decent acts this summer! Hopefully Gregg will be able to make it…they’ve been cancelling a lot of shows this summer due to his health.

The new Journey singer is very good (the now 6th singer - Steve Perry was their 3rd singer)but I kinda wish they had stuck with Jeff Scott Soto. He was fantastic on the last tour with Def Leppard. I LOVE Cheap trick, but they are not what they used to be. Heart also does a great show (although they are my least favorite of the three bands)
If you could bring BEER and FOOD and if you could buy just tickets for this show, I would go

I’ve got to agree with Charles. Journey is not Journey w/o Steve Perry. Now that’s a show I’d shell out for.
Thankfully all the shows I’m going to at Chastain will have music louder than the talkers.

Please keep poo-pooing Chastain. That will mean better Allmans tickets for me! Gregg will be there. It is not the Allmans w/o him. They only canceled the May NY shows and Bonaroo; there are many August shows scheduled so it will be w/ Gregg. I would see BB/Willie and D Byrne, but I’m booked up w/ many other shows around Atlanta.

Chastain blows. Worst venue in this city to see live music. It’s great if all you want to do is go booze it up and not hear the band, but if you are there for the music, you are in the wrong place. The volume levels are too low to overcome the chattering of the yuppies and the clinking of their chardonnay glasses. Whoever thought it was a good idea to put an outdoor music venue in an upscale neighborhood must have been on drugs.

Brock, you’re my kinda guy. We are lucky here in Atlanta with all the acts that are coming this spring/summer season. I wish I could attend every one that I like. I’d be at a concert probably 4 times a week!

Rod of Stone Mountain. You have a great idea, however, I would keep ideas like that to myself. There are those who will steal your idea and claim it as their own.

Verizon is the new place to be —not to mention that it’s 20 minutes from home. I never liked Chastain —and the only venue that is worse is Lakewood. Bye bye to these —I won’t miss you.

What do you mean Cheap Trick are not what they used to be? Have you seen them lately? The rock better than ever. Their 2006 album “Rockford” was critically acclaimed as one of their best. Little Steven had listed as his favorite album of the year. It was also on the list of top albums of the year of many music publications.
Cheap Trick is playing better than ever and Robin’s voice has not declined at all (it might even be a bit better than ever before).
They also received critical acclaim last year when they were selected to play the entire Sgt. Pepper album in a concert at the Hollywood Bowl as a tribute to the Beatles.
Cheap Trick is still amazing after all these years. And the great thing about them is that they still put out new music.

Chastain is a terrible and rude venue and the shows are lame or too old. Why does Mayor Franklin, with all of Atlanta’s money woes and impending property tax increases, spend millions of our tax dollars on special concerts there for her cronies? They hardly ever have 1,000 people yet the City foots the entire bill! If Mayor Franklin wants money she should sell Chastain ampitheatre to developers and return it to what it should be … homes. Besides, now we have Verizon and a lot more comfort and better acts!

No point seeing Journey without Steve Perry. Its no different than going to a Jackson five reunion concert without Michael. or concert billed The Supremes, without Diana Ross who would be interested.I surely wouldnt.. Steve Perry was the voice of Journey as Diana Ross was the voice of the Supremes(even co-original member Mary Wilson has finally accepted that fact and stated that Diana Ross was the “voice of the Supremes”).I cant imagine anyone singing those songs with Perry on lead and being able to pull them off.

Why are there so few “R&B” shows? Chrisette Michelle, Erykah Badu, India.Arie, Alicia Keyes, Ne-Yo? Ironically, the “R&B” shows last year had some of the largest crowds. India always attracts large crowds, I can remember Clay Aiken and Leann Rimes combined filling half of Chastian in separate concerts. I get the message!

I HATE CHASTAIN!!! I would love to go and see Willie agian but I saw him with Merle Haggard last year and you could barely hear them over the snooty Buckhead crowd. I’m sorry, but take your business meetings and tennis teams elsewhere!

Abstain Park is indeed the worst music venue in the Atlanta area. Wine, cheese, and chatter. It’s unbelievably annoying if you’re one of the few who are actually there to listen to the music.

Collective Soul, Live, and Blues Traveler should be loud enough to drown out the corks popping. PS…VZW Amphitheater is nice, but don’t go when it’s raining until they install more drains. Some concrete contractor is getting chewed out royally today, after everyone waded through the aisles at the Eagles concert.
