T.I. and Family, At Easter

A kind photographer named Sydney George sent us these behind-the-scenes shots of Atlanta rapper-actor T.I. during his first public appearance since he went under house arrest in October for allegedly purchasing machine guns.

So we thought we’d share them with you … along with this video.

Here he is with New Birth Missionary Baptist Church’s Bishop Eddie Long, who held Easter service for some 30,000-plus people at the Georgia Dome

DSC_0004.JPG

T.I. and his expecting girlfriend, Grammy-winning singer/songwriter Tameka “Tiny” Cottle.

DSC_0080.JPG

T.I. and longtime friend/business partner Jason Geter

T.I. with his sons King C’Andre (in front, in grey suit and blue tie), Domani Uriah (in blue suit) and Messiah Ya’Majesty (in grey suit, orange tie), Cottle with her niece Kelsey (behind her), her daughter Zonnique (in front of her) and T.I.’s daughter Dejah Iman

DSC_0006.JPG

Were you among the tens of thousands at the Georgia Dome Sunday? Were you surprised that a judge allowed T.I. to attend? And if you were there, what did you think of T.I.’s address about AIDS?

Why? Just, why? The question could be, “Why can’t Atlanta get a real newspaper?,” but the overriding question here goes way beyond that. So, I’ll just leave it with one big “WHY???”

Actually, this photo spread leaves me scratching my head and asking about 7 or 8 different big old “why’s”? I, too, will leave it at that.

Plain and simple, the BOY is a thug. Nothing worse than a thug with money. Why should he be allowed out of the house when he is under house arrest? Oh, it’s not fair. Then he gets all dressed up in pimp attire and has his picture taken. My what a nice looking thug.

Why in the world does any one person need machine guns?

I was in attendance, as he humbly shared his flows in life as he’s learning from his mistakes. As indicated only Christ can judge the man and I pray that those who were present, more specifically the young people (who I’ve talked to shared that TI spoke their language) because he wasn’t judgemental about it. We all live and we learn, we have to have hope for the people of all race and color.

Nothing really AMAZING about this. Atlanta HAS become a combination of DETROIT south and San Fran-queersco! We’ll probably soon have a hip-hop city council and a new fornicatin’ mayor-elect. Wow, what a place. Wish we could get Gen. Sherman back for a replay!!

**It amazes me to see such aversion for someone who has made a mistake. This man is human just like the rest of us. So because he got in trouble he should not be allowed to go to church? Come on people…..let this man and his family live! It’s not like he asked the judge can he go to the club…. And…What makes him a thug? Because you watched the news and heard the rumors of weapons?…until this man has had his day in court you should not call him that.

“he without sin cast the first stone”

Yall kill me

(I bet some of yall don’t know what the inside of a church look like)

TI I am praying for you and your family…..**

The very definition of insanity is doing the same things over and over, expecting different results.

People, think about this. Please.

You are not God and your judgements need to move around to your own lives. Some of you are secretly obsessed with porno, racism, food addiction, lying, adultery, etc….these are all still serious sins to God, just like buying weapons as a felon. You should know better about your sinning, just like he should. God does not put sin on a scale. Why are people so hell bent on living secret lives of foolishness/sin, but the first to judge someone that is caught openly sinning? He is still God’s child. Whatever you consider him to be, God sees him differently.

TI bka Clifford Harris JR is a good man. Yall focused way too much on the negative and never look into the postive. He have done a lot for the community. He made a mistake and it just that. He is moving forward but his situation was a result of a snitch and overzealous ATF agents.

Let a man worship and spread the good word.

I’m so proud of T.I. I call him my spiritual son. The Lord put T.I. heavy on my heart and I prayed for a young man I didn’t know. Many said he would never get out of jail. Thank you Jesus you released him. Funny, how he was present in my church. Trust me, God has plans for T.I. May God continue to Bless you in the Holy name of Christ Jesus.

Wow, reading all these posts defending this guy (even assuming his guilt), and celebrating the fact that he’s speaking to your children as a role model, I MUST quote a great truth from the little green philosopher, Yoda:

“And, that is why you fail … .”

By JJ

March 24, 2008 6:01 PM | Link to this

Made a “mistake”? The guy is already a convicted felon and then decides he needs a few “weapons”. I love ya’lls idea of a “mistake”. The guy better be on his way to the big house (and I don’t mean his) for at least a year or two.

Otherwise, we are complaining because the “paper” glamourizes this. I don’t have a problem with him “going to church”, but that is not what this was.

Somehow I don’t think we have heard the last from “TI”. I bet I’ll wake up one morning and hear about a shooting somewhere and that Clifford Harris among others is DEAD.

It is so sad to see that people can take out time to judge and make comments regarding someone elses problems. If he was out there in some more trouble, nothing would be said. Too bad that people waste precious time judging others when they should be taken time to commend them for atleast taking a step towards positivity. Worrying about yourself-time spent downing others= positive results for your own individual actions. If you are reading these comments TI, here is a quote that I think everyone not just you should keep in mind “Be more concerned about what God thinks about you than what people think about you.”

People need to stop talking about unresolved issues because we are not informed enough about the facts, to comment on T.I.’s pending trail. We need to wait and see what happens with these allegations before we past judgmen. Lastly we all have some skeletons in our closets. We all have to account for what we do not on others. The type of life T.I. Lives cause for self protection. Non of us what it feels like to be threaten by hater everyday like Tip Harris. Have you ever heard of 2Pac, Biggie Smalls, and Jam Master J all entertainers that have been brutally gunned down. Machine guns may be a liitle extreame but the this world is going I don’t blame T.I. Its just a normal case of paranoia that we as humans all suffer from. He has kids, family, and numerous other things to live for. He now different from you and I He makes mistakes but I feel has a good heart. This allegations seem like and attack on T.I. and I hope he beats this case.

My grandmother always use to say “SWEEP AROUND YOUR OWN FRONT PORCH BEFORE YOU TRY AND SWEEP AROUND MINE”!. So many people has so much to say about this man and the type of thug he is and how he should be locked under the jail and so on but i am so happy that i serve a forgiving God. If it was left up to some of you people would always be stuck in despair and hopelessness thank god some of you don’t have a heaven or hell to put some of us in because you would do it without a second thought but never stop and take the time to look at yourselves. All i can do is pray for this man and hope that he hears a word from God and can be a blessing to others instead of judging and throwing stones like some of you. I want all of you to keep it real we all have done things that we wish we could take back but why is it when you try and overcome things and be a better person people just want to see you stuck in your old ways? I think alot of you just want to have something to talk about instead of always saying hurtful things lets try and uplift our people even when we think they should know better just give a person a chance!

Ya’ll are nothing more than Thug lovers. God did not put TI into anyone’s heart. That is just pure nonsense………

This is why we have problems with our youth, especially our black youth. You all glamorize this kind of behavior and think because he found God that all is well. Did god tell him to buy machine guns? NO, he is an adult, and made his own decisions, knowing they were wrong and against the law. He did the crime, now serve the time.

QUIT GLAMORIZING THESE THUGS. Give black kids a REAL MAN to idolize. One who actually stays with his wife and kids. Not one who runs and creates more single moms……..

TI aka The Idiot. They have church service at the Atlanta Pen. He should be attending service there. I can’t believe that folks are making this a Black/White issue. This man is a thug and this is another ploy to appease his blind followers. When I saw the photos of him and Bishop Long ( how did he become a Bishop anyway) I thought maybe he shouldn’t be out coherting with this guy, it won’t be long before they catch up with him too. I think that any man that is caught with weapons like the ones he had should not see the light of day for years. I am willing to bet that these guns would have been used on some of the very same people that are coming to his defense. TI What were you thinking? It seems the more you make money from rap the faster you lose brain cells. Hmm maybe it’s not his fault.

Yall kill me because he is young and from the streets he shouldn’t be given a second chance. What he did was wrong and whatever the penalty he should have to pay but that doesn’t mean that we turn our back on him because he has to go to jail hopefully he has learned from his mistake and can go out there and tell someother young person how “NOT” to do the same thing and don’t think because you have money you are above the law. That is the problem with you all you only go by what the media shows you about young black men and to Rev Ike please please please don’t tell me you are somebody’s Rev foreal because if you are preaching God’s word than you should know about forgiveness. All of this because the man went to church with his family damn yall some hypocrites! Because he went to church people are talking on this blog like the man went to some black tie affair or was at the grammy’s he was at church!!!! But i bet if this was some pop star nobody would have anything to say. It is funny how i just read about an article about Dany Heatley the Atlanta Thrasher who was driving drunk on Lenox Rd and killed his friend in the car accident but he gets 3 yrs probation because his parents begged the judge not to give him prison time and he continues to play in the NHL and was traded to another team because he wanted a fresh start but this man can’t even go to church without all the negativity and he hasn’t even been convicted yet. But i guess only certain people are allowed “FRESH STARTS”! GET REAL WAKE THE F* UP!

More than that I’m sure TI (The Idiot) planned to use these weapons, I’m just glad he was caught before he did. I have met a lot of these thugs you call rappers. I can say not all are bad, but this guy… if this had not come to light we would have heard of him involved in a shooting. Also about me being a minister, Ask your mother about me. Heh heh. Screw that what TI does in the community. Somebody needs to be educating his stupid butt on some birth control, and marriage.

It just seems that whereever some celebrities are Big Head Long is always somewhere around.

I am tired of all of these thugs, acting like they are down with God. One must show himself Godly before he can be down with God. Yuck! Yuck! Yuck! One of these days alot of you people are going to realize that not every rapper, preacher, or African American male is a THUG. There are alot of us that are upstanding fathers, brothers, and husbands in the communities. But you don’t get to see that alot of television or the paper.

If you would take your heads out of your behinds you would know this. We all know there are hoodlums and hooligans in our communities just as there are in every other community. But please think before you start speaking or typing and categorizing all of US as THUGS.

Dear Truth Hurts….

That was a computer error.

It’s obvious that a lot of comments where not given by true Christians. or simply people with compassion. It isn’t easy for any caring person to go to jail or the family members. Like I said none of us are perfect. Thank God, some of us get up and keep on striving for a better life that’s pleasing to Yahweh (God). Thank God some of us know about the power of God’s grace, mercy, and favor and he does place people in our hearts to pray for…

You have a lot of nerve talking about my pastor, Bishop Long.

Bishop Long has done and is doing the same thing Christ Jesus did. He’s receiving all of God’s children. For Christ Jesus came to save the lost and broken hearted.

For the word say we are to forgive and I’m forgiving you for that comment as I’m sure Bishop Long has or will once he’s aware of that comment.

Remember, it’s not where you been it where your at and where you dream to go. When any one falls, get up and brush yourself off. And, keep on pushing on for everyones life is a testimony to help someone else.

So, lets stop hating and start LOVING more.

Like WAY TOO MANY young black men this man is makin BAD choices, and he’s hurtin himself and hes hurtin his kids and hes hurtin his community.

The Good Lord done taught us “love the sinner, but HATE the sin.” We’re just here hatin’ on the sin. So jus stop with defendin what this ignorant man does, cause its this kinda ignorance thats killin our communities, you included. White people jus love to sit back an laugh, and why the h@ll not?

You should judge a person by the content of their character, which means you should have a relationship with them. Don’t go by what they media has presented to you. YES!! I don’t agree with all TI is doing, but I applaud any person who is willing to better himself. Everything we do in life is about a choice and sometimes we make the wrong chooses because of lack of knowledge, you gain knowledge by studying to show yourself approved unto God and not man. We can not live in this world alone……we will continue to make mistakes and prayerfully learn from them, that our youth won’t make the same mistakes we are making. Just make sure you raise up your children in the way to go……how to judge people by their character.

We can not live in this world alone……we will continue to make mistakes and prayerfully learn from them, that our youth won’t make the same mistakes we are making. Just make sure you raise up your children in the way to go……how to judge people by their character.

Who’s to say….Maybe he will marry Tiny. The sin of the gun is killing…

Miss Manner: we ARE judging T.I. by the content of his character. So far, he’s shown that he is sorely lacking any. Who in their right mind defends putting a drug-using, misogynistic, weapon purchasing, functional illiterate on the stage of a worship service as a role model? Why not choose speakers who are truly living Christ-like lives, who are obedient to the Word and are decent family men with morals? Please stop defending this man, because so far he hasn’t done anything that’s worth defending. And if Tiny has any sense, she will leave this loser alone and find a partner who understands that the true character of a man doesn’t lie in the pimpin’ and posturin’, but in his ability to work hard, support his family, and uphold Christian standards.

And Another thing: He didn’t make a mistake. He deliberately tried to purchase illegal weapons. His only mistake was getting caught.

Forgive me, I am not a judgmental person. But I had a real problem when I saw T.I standing up there addressing the Easter crowd about HIV, AIDs and abstinence. Pleeeeeeeeze. He has got to be kidding. And then the AJC has the nerve to have pics of his once again knocked up girlfriend with all those kids and no one has yet to sign a marriage certificate. And who thte hell named those kids. I thought I was reading a comic book. Don’t people realize those names will be attached to adults some day who will have to put them on top of a resume. Bishop, you made a big mistake handing that fool the mike. You would have done better handing the mike to Satan himself. And bloggers, I am not hating. I like rap music. I just don’t like thugs….and this is what TI is…..like it or not evreyone.

You should not talk about the kids they have nothing to do with their father’s trouble. And as I stated earlier this was simplyan attack on T.I. Everyone in Atlanta had guns that weekend. Why would single him out, just to set an example. You would be a fool to go out that weekend without some type of protection. Especially someone of T.I.’s status. Every robber, crook, and thug was out looking for someone sliping.

Wow what a role model - what 4 or 5 kids with different women & his girlfriend is knocked-up. This guy is allowed to speak at a church??? Must be another one of those Obama churches.

No one is perfect, it appears that his character is currently being worked on where he’s in a position to understand the truth, that’s why the world of God says, do not conform to this world and to train up your child in the way to go. There are some things in life we have to learn the hard way and it appears that TI is learning that, only time will tell, but I think he should be given a chance. There are several teenagers that I talked to who don’t even know that they should get married before having sex, it’s that the rappers fault or the parents whose raising them.

By Voice of Reason

All of you so-called Christians can complain to the cows come home that his girlfriend is knocked-up and they have all of these children and aren’t married yet. What you need to be applauding is the fact that they are still together and they are both taking care of their children.

So what if they are not married. Who cares?! I know I don’t. And for those of you that will undoubtedly say, “Well he was in a church in front of all those other children. What kind of example is he setting?” I have this to say. Those children have parents. It is the parents’ job to explain what’s right and what’s wrong. Not T.I.’s job. His job is to entertain. Hence the albums he puts out and the movies that he appears in. All you finger pointers always want to complain about how a celebrity looks to your children. GROW UP. As long as YOU are in your child’s life and teaching them right from wrong you shouldn’t have to worry about what T.I. or any other celebrity is saying or doing in front of YOUR kids. That’s part of the problem with the country now. People sticking their noses in or worrying about what’s going on in someone else’s house.

While all of you are pointing the finger at T.I., there are 3 pointing back at you.

Think about that.

“While all of you are pointing the finger at T.I., there are 3 pointing back at you.”

But mine aren’t facinf federal weapons violation………. my fingers obey the law.

If TI really has changed, then three things will be evident:

1) His lyrics will change. No more disrespecting women, glorifying violence.

2) he will marry his concubine.

3) He will admit his guilt.

The the “religious” who quote Jesus, he said “go and sin no more”. Will TI do that?

As far as you Bishop Long worshipers, Jesus ministered to mostly the poor. Would Long let the poor speak on his stage? Would he pose with them? Did Jesus wear muscle shirts? Who is he trying to impress?

Voice of reason.. great comment! Did Tip need those guns? No, Was he going out on a shooting rampage? Please, this man was about to be on stage performing that evening. He was scheduled to promote a block buster film. He wasn’t out here to rob and steal from anyone. T.I should have hired professionals to worry about his security instead of trying to be hard ass and handle the situation himself. He’s young and inexperienced on how to handle situations outside of the hood. Rappers get caught up in trying to “keep it real”. I hate when people pull up lyrics and post judgments. Have you ever broken down rock and roll lyrics and judged the writer? What about movies… do you think the person who wrote New Jack City was a thug? It’s entertainment… it’s not real. Please teach your children that real thugs are out robbing and stealing and not in a studio, not doing promotions or at a photo shoot! Stop it people raise your own children!

OK, I must admit I read all of these post, Do I think he should have been allowed to attend this service? NO., but I do find it amuzing that he attends the church where Eddie Long is the minister, is he not being investigated himself. I think T.I. is an alright actor I loved him in that skating movie he did. I don’t like his music, I think he should go to jail, not because he is black, because he broke the law, I wish people would quit making everything black and white, come on people, it is up to us to end this “it’s because he is black crap”, This man lived the ghetto life and money nor fame will take that away from him, I was raised by the value, you can take your past and learn from it or you can let it ruin your future and that is EXACTLY WHAT HE DID. And to preach abstaining from sex, practice what you preach. So I wish you luck Clifford, maybe one day you will wise up and grow and set some kind of example to your children, they do not need fancy suits or wild names to make them thrive, they need a “Dad” to guide them in the right direction, think about your kids maybe then you will change your life.

I’m always impressed with people’s use of the word “THUG.” What exactly does a THUG look like? Are all rappers THUGS? Are all Black athletes THUGS? Or maybe all Black men in general. Never can tell down here in the good ol’ South.

GWB is the REAL THUG, but I never saw comments as such when the news broke that the death toll in Iraq reached 4,000. Hmmmmmm….

By disgusted

March 27, 2008 5:51 PM | Link to this

Baffled, Get off of it, ” the black thing” a thug is someone with no moral fortitude, George W. Bush is not a thug, He has done exactly what needed to be done, if you don’t agree fine, but the Armed Forces are purely voluntary, no one forced any of those people to go to Iraq or Afganastan, get off the its because he is black thing, even if he was white he would still be a thug. Act like a lawless, gutless morally impaired idiot you have to serve the time and that is exactly what he did, and why he had to face a judge. As for our troops, I have several people in Iraq right now that do not think we are doing a bad thing, and the Iraqi people think we are doing the right thing, Especially the kids that our soldiers play football with and make sure they are taken care of. Thats a lot more than he has shown his kids.

To all of you self rightous bloggers out there. How can you defend a man with machine guns in the house with small kids around. What were they gonna be used for? Nobody seems to want to answer that question. Protection? I believe that a couple of hand grenades were on the shopping list next. This reminds me of a bunch of kids trying to defend the classmate for having guns in his backpack by saying “but he is a really great ball player”. Was he in Bishop Longs church on the day that the 10 commandments were taught? Or does the good Bishop teach this? He should have found God on the way to pick up the guns. However it seems God will only speak to you once you are caught. Just ask Micheal Convick. And another thing that really p** me off is why would a judge sentence a convicted felon to talk to children? That has to be “Money at work”. One good thing may have come of this. They (the Feds) may have stopped this Brotha from killing another. Rap about that.

The fact of the matter is…everyone makes mistakes. T.I. made a mistake, but he is a smart, strong man, and he is learning from his mistakes. Someone asked, why would a judge ask a convicted felon to talk to children? Are you dense? The best way to reach our youth today is to show them real life experiences from someone that has been there themselves. You can’t talk to kids the way you used to, these kids today need a jolt to their system, they need to be scared!! If T.I. can reach and change one person’s life, isn’t that enough to justify this judge’s decision. You people need to step back and take a broader look at the situation. Stop assuming that he is getting special treatment because he is a celebrity, stop hating on the fact that he may get a lesser sentence than any other Tom, Dick, or Jane with the same charges. Step back and realize that this man may save the life of your child or someone you know with just his words…think about it.
