Van Halen in Gwinnett postponed again

It’s off again.

The Van Halen gig at Gwinnett Arena that was rescheduled for March 19 has been postponed for a second time. In fact, the band’s entire schedule through April 15 has been scrapped for the moment.

According to a statement from the band’s publicist, “seventeen concert dates on the Van Halen tour are being rescheduled so that Eddie Van Halen, who is currently under doctors’ care, can continue medical tests to define a course of treatment. The tour will resume on April 19th.”

The press release goes on to state that ticket holders can retain their tickets and they’ll be honored at the future dates, but refunds will be available at point of purchase.

Wonder if he’s getting doctor’s treatment cause Dave beat the crap out of him? Of maybe he’s massively depressed because Valerie is looking amazing these days…

If the postponement is due to substance use, I’d rather hear that he’s getting treatment now rather than waiting until the tour is over. What ever happened to giving a person some support when they are struggling (hopefully to do the right thing)? Who even knows if this is the cause. For all we know it could be a recurrence of the mouth cancer he dealt with a few years ago.

March 19 will be the 26th anniversary of Randy Rhoads death in 1982. I have been kinda spooked about seeing Eddie play on the anniversary, as they have often been called the two most influential guitarist of the late seventies/early eighties…It just did not seem right. I have always preferred RR because I liked Ozzy’s personality songs more than cornball Diamond Dave.

Lets be clear Eddie Van Halen is doing what he has been doing for 30 years and has his boy back(Roth). Wolfgang is 16 years of age, remember that!

Ed,

We wish you the best. You are loved, and we are grateful for the tour.

Eddie’s a little Bi*. He ruined Van Halen in ‘84 by breaking up the band and then he turned his back on Sammy and Michael Anthony 25 years later. What comes around goes around.

Well crud! I kept referring to this concert as the “See them before they die” concert, but I wasn’t serious! Makes me glad I didn’t sell my Phillips tickets when the Gwinnett show opened up though. Get better Eddie!

I’m glad I saw them at Philips. Just finished Val’s book. Rather enlightening regarding Ed’s “creative cycle” with touring and what not. I hope that he takes the time he needs and they get back out and finish the tour. Aside from sound tech issues, I though the Philips show was great. I’d never seen them live before and am a Roth fan. I wasn’t disappointed.

You are probably the saddest mental dullard I have ever seen on ajc.com. If you are going to troll message boards, at least be original or witty. Your posts just highlight your adolescent fantasy centered on pretending to be a “B” list local radio jock. reproduce.

Yes, somebody get you a doctor, indeed.

Get of of Wolfie’s ass you idiot. What were you doing at 16? Picking your nose? You are probably waiting on the Backstreet boys to come to town. Get better Eddie.

I was pert of the security team (Dr Pi’s White Dragons)for the Stones steel wheels tour in 1980-81. Van Halen was the second liner. Witnessed Eddies penchant for Schlitz Malt Liquor, Quervo, Snowstorms and Underage Chicks. Acted pretty much like a spoiled brat for the most part. Also witnessed the backstage shouting matches between he and Val. Looks like Ed is up to his old tricks some 28 YEARS LATER. I hope he gets help.

I remember in 1978, a buddy of mine said come on we’re going to the Macon Collusium. Why, I asked? To go see some band, someone told me they were great. Whats the name of the band? Van Halen I think. OK, let’s go. We get there,it’s General admission. We had got there early, because of the drive from Atlanta, we didn;t know where we ere going. We get a drink, and sit in the front row for about an hour berfore anyone else started coming in. There were no boundrys from our chair to the stage it was about 3 feet. MAN that was the rockingest concert I have been to. That was before the VH-I came out.

Eddie had lymphoma several years back, and it is notorious for a recurrence after many years. Of course, the rocker life-style isn’t always the healthiest. All the best, Eddie.
