The Atlanta Music Scene in L.A., for the Grammys

janetlisten.jpg

With 25-plus acts with Georgia connections up for Grammys this Sunday, of course the Atlanta Music Scene blog will be in Los Angeles as well.

Return here all weekend for coverage of local music mogul Jermaine Dupri’s annual “Welcome to Atlanta” party; local R&B singer-songwriter Ne-Yo’s midnight brunch on Grammy eve; what our artists have to say backstage at the ceremony after their wins; and other sights and sounds from that scene.

It all begins this evening, after the listening party Island Def Jam Music Group chairman Antonio “L.A.” Reid is hosting for Janet Jackson’s upcoming CD, “Discipline”.

So again - check back, and weigh in.

Meanwhile, what are you most looking forward to seeing on the Grammys? Atlanta songwriter-producers Tricky Stewart and The Dream joining Rihanna on stage to pick up a grammophone for “Umbrella”? Jazz singer Freddy Cole getting his Grammy due? Or Christian music act Casting Crowns finally getting some on-air time?

Is that it…What else you got? John Mayer? Writers are on stike, so it doesn’t have to be boring, add a little fun.

Will somebody please tell Janet to call up Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis and give them sole custody of all and any future albums. No one seems to like this new single and if the rest of the album is the same she has another stink bomb on her hands. I am full fledged JJ fan but her last 2 cds are holding up some wobble furniture in my house. Please Janet, go back to the hit makers. Love JD, but sometimes you gotta keep personal life and business life apart.

tina b….I couldn’t agree with you more. I’m thought the last two albums stunk as well. I think I may have played Damito Jo twice. She really does need to get back with Jimmy and Terry.

I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONE. I WAS HOME MONDAY WITH A SICK CHILD AND HAPPEN TO SEE THE VIDEO ON BET. WTF!! ARE YOU SERIOUS? I ONLY LIKE THE LAST PART AND MY MIND COULD ONLY COME UP WITH RHYTHM NATION. I AGREE WITH YOU ALL…IF IT AINT BROKE DON’T FIX IT. BEYONCE AND MJB ARE MAKING JJ LOOK SICK RIGHT NOW. I’VE LOVED JJ SINCE SHE WAS PENNY BUT SHE MUST DO BETTER.

wondering why in all the Grammy hoopla I have yet to see the AJC mention the Drive-By Truckers’ backing efforts on Bettye LaVette’s nominated album. After all, it was produced by Patterson Hood and David Barbe right here in Athens, GA.
