Rate Janet’s New Single
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

As Peach Buzz reported yesterday, a single has been leaked from part-time Atlantan Janet Jackson’s upcoming CD “Discipline,” and buzz on iTunes, at least, is really good.
But we want to hear from you. CLICK HERE TO LISTEN
(And as a bonus for spending eyeball time here, here’s a YouTube video of Jackson talking to EXTRA on the New York set of the video for the single):
Meanwhile, as you’re offering opinions, can somebody please explain how this Mickey Avalon guy merited a spot in this Boost Mobile commercial with Jackson’s longtime Atlanta beau Jermaine Dupri, and local hip-hop power Young Jeezy?
WATCH IT HERE:

I have been hearing this song all over the place, at first I was thinking “whatever”, but now I’m so hooked, loving it. I was also wondering who in the world that guy was in the commercial with Jermaine Dupri and Young Jeezy. Great, now I can google him. I wonder if they knew in advance that he would also be in the commercial, I would have backed out. He can’t be helping their street cred!

It sounds like the old Janet…but Janet has grown, full grown, her songs should be older and sexier. JD make the transformation for Janet CD like you did for MiMi

Doesn’t do much for me…it sounds “over-studio’d” and derivative from Madonna’s “Confessions” album… agree with poster above about wanting to hear a more grown up sound from Janet rather than this teenage club sound that is just done to death. Janet ain’t 18 anymore…surely she has some more mature music in her than this…I HOPE!
Lord, isn’t there enough teeny bopper/cheap ‘ho music out there already? Janet is too classy and needs to move on and up.

I don’t like it. I really wish Janet’s music would mature with her. It sounds like Janet from the 90’s.

Maybe the video is a seller, I haven’t viewed it yet. The song sounds like some B.Spears garbage to me.

Janet, Please call Jimmy and Terry and let them work their magic. You are now in your 40’s so your music has to reflect that you have grown and matured. Perfect example:Mary J. Blige. Her music grew with her and reflected what she has been thru. But it is still banging. You have it in you…I know this. But you are not hooking up with the right people. Or perhaps there are too many hands in the producing pot. Either way. I have your last 2 albums and I hate to say it I still the rock your greatest hits cd because it has everything I love. I wish you luck. Will still shelll out $95 to see you in concert though.

Okay, the part “I’m heavy like a first day period…..”, that’s gross. I’m choosing to ignore it since I like the rest. She too grown to be talking like that. And its not that cute considering she’s only got a few more before menopause kicks in.

Although this track is hot, it sounds just like all the rest of the pop music that is out now. Janet, take a page from Mary J. Blige and let your music and lyrics mature with you. It’s almost like she’s fighting getting older, some things get better as they mature … Janet, this isn’t 1985 and you aren’t 21 anymore . ..

This is what Janet is all about! Hot, jumping house music like beats, full of energy! If she sticks to this, maybe she can regain her fan base. I love it and hope more is to come like this on the new CD.

This song has a great beat, but there’s enough music that sounds just like this already playing on the radio. Bring back the innovative, trend-changing Janet! I agree that she should try a more mature sound - that’s what her true fans want and expect from her. We’re all grown up now, too!

What is this, 1990?? Sorry, but I expect more out of Janet. This is push button music and it sounds tired, just like Spears ‘I want more’, Gar-Bage! Hot?? I think ya’ll are nutz!!!

I agree with the other posters that Janet it too old for this type of music. Yes it’s trendy, but Byonce’ and the rest of the wanna-be’s are already doing this crap. It seems that Janet’s sound has progressively strayed closer to run-of-the-mill bubblegum pop/R&B since The Velvet Rope (when she lost her mind). She seems afraid to mature with her aging fan base. Really, what is she talking about in this song? NOTHING! Is this as deep and introspective and innovative as she can be at 41? To truly revive her career, Janet needs to fire JD (and others) and take CONTROL!

I have to admit, the beat is a sound that has been overdone by Timbaland over the past year (Sexyback, The Way I Are, Gimme More), BUT!!!!!! JANET THIS SONG IS SLAMMIN’!!! I love it!! Also, the lyric about the “period” was just silly..but I overlook it. Other than that, this is great dance and workout music. I can’t wait for the video!
