It’s that time of year again, when visions of Top 10 lists begin dancing in critics’ heads.
One of the first listmaking entities to enter the fray this year is Decatur-based Paste magazine. They went all out with this one, ranking the 100 best albums of the year. Here’s the magazine’s Top 20:
- The National - “Boxer”
- Arcade Fire - “Neon Bible”
- Bruce Springsteen - “Magic”
- The White Stripes - “Icky Thump”
- Feist - “The Reminder”
- M.I.A. - “Kala”
- Wilco - “Sky Blue Sky”
- Modest Mouse - “We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank”
- Band of Horses - “Cease to Begin”
- Iron & Wine - “The Shepherd’s Dog”
- Radiohead - “In Rainbows”
- Avett Brothers - “Emotionalism”
- Amy Winehouse - “Back to Black”
- Loney, Dear - “Loney, Noir”
- Kanye West -“Graduation”
- Ryan Adams - “Easy Tiger”
- Josh Ritter - “The Historical Conquests of Josh Ritter”
- Miranda Lambert - “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend”
- Ted Leo & the Pharmacists - “Living with the Living”
- Blonde Redhead - “23”
What’s your take on the list? What’s missing? What should’ve been much lower?

Without doubt…Neyo had one of the best R&B album of the year. It was refreshing to here music that wasn’t wrecked with cursed laced lyrics or sexually charged energy. This is what I call REAL MUSIC !!!

Glad to see Bruce and Ryan Adams on the list.
I think Wilco’s “Sky Blue Sky” and Marc Cohn’s “Join the Parade” are also worthy of inclusion.

Agent Ribbons’ album “On Time Travel and Romance” is the best of 2007. You have to go to their MySpace page, though, and download it. So get going NOW.

The two I would add would be Dwight Yoakam’s “Dwight Sings Buck” and Dale Watson’s “From the Cradle to the Grave.”

I’m feelin you wake up, eric roberson had one of the best albums this year. What about Common’s Finding Forever? I put that above Kanye’s album easily.

Obviously the tasteless under 25 set was polled given these ridiculous results. No John Mayer? No David Gray? No Jack Johnson? Come on.
