R. Kelly in Atlanta
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Atlanta R&B artists J Holiday, Keyshia Cole and Ne-Yo opened for R. Kelly Thursday night at Philips Arena - in that order.
That’s significant perhaps for no other reason than when Kelly’s nationwide tour launched in Columbus, Ga. the night before, Cole didn’t show. According to BeyoncĂ© of Hot-107.9’s “A-Team Morning Show” - who told her listening audience she attended the first date - Cole protested the size of her dressing room, and then the fact that she had to go on before Ne-Yo.
Now being on the cover of Vibe and Essence magazines, and having a popular show on BET is is great and everything, but do you think Cole is a bigger artist than Ne-Yo? Is there a song in her two-CD catalog that has had as wide of an appeal as Ne-Yo’s “So Sick”?
And getting beyond that, if you were in the near sold-out crowd, what did you think of the concert as a whole?

I enjoyed the concert. I am a huge R Kelly fan. He was the best. If you were at the concert it was obvious the Keisha Cole should have gone before Ne-Yo. Don’t get me wrong she had a great show but Ne-Yo is clearly the biggest star. Overall I enjoyed everyone though it was well worth the $100.00 I paid for the ticket.

I ATTENDED THE SHOW IN COLUMBUS AND IT WAS GREAT, PERSONALLY I WAS GLAD KEYSHIA DIDN’T PERFORM BECAUSE NE-YO AND KELLS ARE TO OF THE BEST PERFORMERS TO DATE!!!

I went to the show last night and I thought it was excellent. I’m more of a Ne-Yo fan than Keyshia Cole. She did a great job (even with a few little mishaps)but Ne-yo was excellent. Kellz is just simply the best. I would pay 100 dollars to see Ne-yo and Kellz anyday. Keyshia needs to chill out…its something about her that rubs people the wrong way…FANS and all.

Concert was off the chain. J. Holiday was ok. He needs to work on his stage presence. Keisha had no energy in the beginning. She finished strong but didn’t have enough songs to go before Neyo. He had a really nice show and did his thing for those 40-45 minutes. Kells, ENOUGH said. The intro set the tone for it and he was simply hilarious and entertaining. GREAT show.

I attended the concert and the order of the show was definitely correct. Keyshia was actually the weakest link in show. There is definitely room for improvement in her live show from a vocal, performance, and presentation standpoint. Even J. Holiday was better live than Keyshia, in my opinion. I was very impressed with Ne-Yo’s show and Kellz is simply Kellz!!

I did not attend the concert, but I attended the afterparty at the Velvet Room. Needless to say, the dj sucked and Kells did not walk in until 3am. We left at 3:45 and he still had not said anything on the mic. WTF!!!

The show was ICREDIBLE….Keisha Cole was good, but not good enough to begin demanding order at a concert!
R Kelly is an incredible talent. He is one of the great musical geniouses of all time along with Michael J, Prince, BeeThoven and Mozart…..
Tremendous show! Unforgettable!

I attended the concert in Columbus, GA and it was fantastic!!! Kells and Neyo ripped it. I loved every moment of their performances. Though I am not a huge Keyshia Cole fan, I am very disgusted by her childishness. That was very juvenille to not perform because she couldn’t get her way. People paid a lot of money for those tickets and some only went just to see her. Seeing that she resides in ATL, if by chance Ms. Cole you are reading this, I’mma need you to step your status up before you pout, stump your feet, and have a tantrum. You are not Beyonce’ nor are you MJB. You’re a huge disappointment to your fans. TISK TISK TISK @ you for being a brat. Back to the concert, I’m glad I went. I had very good seats. I’m a huge Kells fan and would have paid double to see him.

I WENT TO THE SHOW IN COLUMBUS AND I WAS HAPPY THAT SHE DID NOT PERFORM. SHE IS REALLY STARTING TO GET WHERE SHE CAME FROM. NOBODY ON TOUR WITH KELL WILL EVER GO BEFORE HIM. HER SHOW IS SO DEPRESSING AND IT IS TOO MUCH ABOUT HER MOM AND HER SISTER. IF SHE CARED ABOUT THEM SO MUCH SO WILL AT LEAST FIX THEM UP BEFORE SHE LET THEM GO ON TV. I DON’T LIKE HER OR MUSIC AND SHE CAN’T SING. SHE TALK ABOUT FANTASIA BEING THE GIRL FROM AMERICAN IDOL, BUT SHE NEED TO TAKE SINGING LESSONS FROM HER. SHE SHOULD BE HAPPY KELLY AND NEYO ALLOWED HER TO BE ON TOUR WITH THEM

R.KELLY IS THE GREATEST. I have been to a lot of concerts this year, and have to say this was the best by far. I am sorry to see such hate on Keyshia but I really enjoyed her show. As far as her going before Ne-Yo. Kells did it right she should go before Ne-Yo. Take a look at all the hits Ne-Yo has written before he became a solo artist. And besides the fact that Ne-Yo can dance his ass off and is a true performer also. I think J.Holiday was a little nervous, hopefully he’ll improve on stage presence as the tour goes on. My $100 was well spent. I stood up the entire two hours the Kells was up. And I left while he was singing Christmas Carols so can any one tell me how the concert ended?

Wow, it’s amazing how some artist really get to a point of worrying more about their dressing room than their fans. I was at the show last night and I already knew that Keyshia would be before Ne-yo, which was definitely appropriate. Her skills and songs in the music business definitely don’t compare to Ne-yo and he’s definitely paid his due. I’ve seen both of these artist many times and Ne-yo is always consistent with his performance and unfortunately Keyshia is too. She needs to work on the dancing because she always seems stiff to me. Her song choice should be better too. She concentracted on some of the weaker songs from the first album instead of the great hits from the 2nd. I saw R. Kelly on last year’s tour and I must say that a lot of the performance was the same, but the opening and closing was off the chain! He is truly a talented man and I would go see him again! J. Holiday did a great job as well!

Was any of these people at Phillips Arena because I thought Ne-yo sucked! Kellz was and still is the greatest, but Keyshia was good, also. J. Holiday seemed scared or as if he was holding back.

Kells is the best performer in this day and time. I attend his concert everytime he comes to Atlanta. My money was well spent. I also enjoyed the other acts. I thought Keisha Cole and Ne-yo did a good job. Ne-you shld have went after Keisha. J. Holiday is just getting started so I can understand that he may not have the money yet to put on the best show he could; but he is a good singer. Overall, it is the best concert that I have seen all year. Kells you are a bad boy…thanks for the show and come back soon

The R Kelly concert was great. Was glad to see that Keshia Cole decided to perform in the ATL and she did a great job. She has came a long way from her first album. Ne-yo did his thing and definitly should have went after Ms. Cole’s. He is a much better performer than her. Loved how R. Kelly started the show, and kept great energy and the crowd going for 3 hours. He always gives us our money’s worth:-)

I went to the Philips Arena concert and stayed in one of the suites, so my view wasn’t as good as some other people. However, Keyshia, was amazing, she knows how to sing without mechanics and I appreciate that, but come on, to go on before Ne-Yo? He has more hits and that is why he was last before R. Kelly. I didn’t see J.Holiday, but from what I hear, I didn’t miss anything. As for R.Kelly, he made a girl lose her mind. I have never seen him before in concert or on TV peforming, so this was a first. but I was trully happy with seeing him, he put on a show, that was worth the money and I was happy that the concert was sold-out. So, I think it was good, no, excellant. The way Kelly came out, was the best I have seen since Justin Timberlake’s concert in February and August. I hope he comes back to Atlanta, and this time lets people know you need to be 18 or older to get in, because that man is a freak.

The concert was great. Nice line up, although I could have done without J. Holliday, but it is a good look for him to be opening for Kells. Keyshia is my girl! Her show was good, she has come a long way since opening for Kanye West a while back. But YES, she should have gone before Ne-Yo. I am not a huge Ne-Yo fan but he was good, he did all his hits. As for Kells!!! Awesome. I loved the way he came out, lots of energy through the whole show. I wish he would have sang a couple of my faves by him such as a Woman’s Threat, but his catalog is so vast, he would have kept us there until 6 am trying to sing everything :-)All in all, $$ for $$, I got my money’s worth. Oh, and for the person who asked how he ended the show…with TV sitcom songs…GOOD TIMES was the last one.

I attended the concert and wasnt too impressed. I didnt see the purpose of R.Kellys dancers or his hype man. I wish Kells could have focused more on his old material (by himself), but oh well. I enjoyed Neyo, but missed K Cole because I was in the liquor line (haha)

I was at the Atlanta concert and I must say that R. Kelly shut down Philips. It was well worth the price of floor seats. Keyshia Cole should have been in the spot that she was in. The people that are knocking J. Holiday need to realize that this is his first concert tour. Of course he’s not going to be that good. Give him time to work on stage presence and get some addtional songs and he’ll probably be better. Keyshia Cole was good. She did her songs and it was ok. I think the she got her biggest reaction when Missy Elliot came out. Ne-Yo had a pretty good set. He really got the crowd hyped for R. Kelly. He’s going to be a good entertainer. You can see that in him now. R. Kelly is the man! I was surprised by the way he came on the stage. To come through the crowd like it was a championship boxing match was great! All he needed was to have Michael Buffer introduce him. Kelly’s show was well over two hours long and it was filled with hits. People were singing along with him and sometimes singing louder than him. It was great. For those of you that weren’t fortunate enough to have floor seats in section 9, you happened to miss the biggest surprise of the show. I was sitting about to feet away from Ciara, Jermaine Dupri, and Janet Jackson!! Everybody in that section was trying to get looks and pictures at Ms. Jackson. It was a great show!

Drove to Columbus to see the opening show. J Holiday was o.k. Neyo was excellent. Kells….enuff said. I had floor seats, which only cost me $60 and I could see the sweat running down Kells face. But had to stand on the chair all night because everyone in front of me was standing on the chair. But I just boogied on the chair. R. Kelly had me screaming like a damn teeny bopper. He sang for 2-2 1/2 hrs straight. I was exhausted when he was done. Well worth the tix money and the drive.

The show was off tha chain. Keyshia Cole was cool but she should not go on before Ne-Yo. Before the show I thought she should of went after Ne-Yo but after watching him perform it was confirmed that the order was correct. Ne-Yo had some fine ass dancers and Keyshia Cole looked good too. And Kells??? What did you think the R in R&B stood for? I spent $700 for two front row seats and I would do it again in a heartbeat!!!! “Ya’ll tell me whats R&B without the R-ahhhh”?!!!!

You would think someone dubbed a “musical genius” by so many black people would have more than one (I repeat one) Grammy award for all the “hits” he’s put out there.
Go figure. But then again, we fall for anything.
Must be the ghetto-fabulous content that he injects into his music that wins us over..

The concert was unorganized. We waited anywhere between 30-45 min between artists. And yes Keisha didnt perform..Rkelly of course put on a production which was good but a bit long..It was if he wanted to sing every song he ever wrote..Overall it was okay…

Is this the same R. Kelly who faces a dozen or so charges for soliciting a minor for child pornography? Did all of you get to take your kids back stage for some photo-ops?

Keyshia, hun, you are out of the ghetto so act like it! Ne-Yo is excellent but I’m going to need you to be more masculine. J Holiday - boring. “Kellz” is a horrible human being and should not be celebrated or admired in any form or fashion.

I was truly disappointd by the concert. It was unorganized and I got tired of the lights coming on. Kelly’s performance was very long and I was over it by the finale. The sound was horrible from the 300 section. I struggled to hear most of the time. I heard more of the crowd singing than I could the artists. This complaint came from several people sitting around me. And it can’t be blamed on the locale because I’ve heard several, very clear and crisp concerts in the Philips Arena. Whoever was responsible for sound did a poor job. At a concert, you should be able to hear what is being said no matter what seats you have. As for the openers, Ne-Yo definitely earned his spot in the lineup. He had the best performance out of the openers by far.

kiesha coles you have really spit in your columbus fans face. if a dressing room is the real reason you didnt sing that terrible. if we dont buy your records then guess what you dont get paid, and you do want to get paid dont you. word of mouth is a strong advertisement instead of billboards, unless you want to sing overseas then you might want to apoligize to your columbus fans, because before you made it big, you didnt have the huge dressing room like beyonce or janet jackson. those women are icons and you just got your feet wet, so some advice for you is to apologize to them now, because trust me when i say this, you dont want any of your fans later on not supporting your work. it will come back to haunt you. your fans put you where you are today and dont ever forget that, and dont let them start bootlegging your records then you will feel there wrath. so words of advice apologize before it is too late.
