Jermaine Dupri’s GREATEST hits?!

Atlanta’s Grammy-winning music mogul Jermaine Dupri is producing more than his usual new hits these days.
Last week it was an autobiography, “Young, Rich and Dangerous: The Making of a Music Mogul.” And tomorrow the 15-year veteran of the business releases his first greatest hits CD, “Y’all Know What This Is…The Hits”; obviously named after the catch phrase he’s known for yelling at the start of songs he’s produced.
The track listing is as follows: “Welcome to Atlanta,” Dupri and Ludacris; “Jump,” Kris Kross; “Sleepin’ In My Bed” (So So Def remix), Dru Hill featuring Da Brat and Dupri; “We Belong Together,” Mariah Carey; “Money Ain’t A Thang,” Dupri and Jay-Z; “Confessions Part II,” Usher; “Like You,” Bow Wow featuring Ciara; “The First Night,” Monica; “Pullin’ Me Back,” Chingy featuring Tyrese; and “Keep On, Keepin’ On,” MC Lyte featuring Xscape.
Which leaves one wondering, why no Jagged Edge — arguably the only male R&B group really out now? Why is the one track from Xscape— another R&B quartet from Dupri’s early So So Def days — one where they are just singing background basically? Instead of “Just Kickin’ It”, or maybe “Understanding”?
What do you think is missing from this collection - if anything? What inclusion in this Top 10 is surprising? (Track no. 10, perhaps?) And what personal favorites do you have that you feel are underappreciated Jermaine Dupri productions?

Would only buy it bootleg, for the low ($$). These artists are sickening………flashing their money and bling, but not really doing anything to benefit the less fortunate. Look at this very little man (Dupri), for example, right here in the “A”, and has he done anything to really benefit the city?! NO!!! Donate some of that money to help save Grady, or to the shelters, or do something positive and beneficial for our kids (other than the junk music). But NOOOOOOOOO, they’re not interested in that, which is why I will never spend my hard earned money on anything they do. Bootleg all the way baby!!!!!

His music is mediocre at best. But I agree with One. He has done absolutely nothing to help out this city. He’s too busy trying to party. Take some of that money that you spend at Magic City and start a non-profit foundation, you ignorant ego-maniac.

While I like her old music, she’s nothing to write home about, after all she comes from a disturbingly dysfunctional family, has serious self esteem issues, and the only reason she still looks like she does is due to cosmetic surgery! Wow, seems like some posters here really have issues with Dupri. I won’t dump on the man personally. I respect him as a business man. In that regard, he should be commended. However, I have never liked his music. From a Hip Hop production standpoint I would take a greatest hits record by Dr. Dre or the Rza before JD.
While I respect the business of the music producers today you can’t compare any of them to a guy like Quincy Jones, or even LA and Babyface when they were together. You just do not hear records like Off The Wall and Thriller anymore.

Do you realize that this cat was the a major force in getting records from the south played outside of the south!
Do you even remember when this cat was knocking on the door of V-103, trying to get south music played!
Do you know this cat is the one, that when he got in a power position, made sure that the south was heard!
Do you realize this cat was in his teens, when he first broke the group Silk Times Leather, then that “jump, jump” joint!
Mann,I could go on and on, but most folks live their whole lives and never achieve what this cat has done in his mid thirties!

I don’t have anything against Dupri or Janet. Haven’t seen his biography so I don’t no what his contributions r. Sad that many people, especially poor, spend their hard earned $$ supporting celebrities who don’t give back. Instead they buy bigger houses/cars, more clothes/bling, etc. Was sadder when Katrina hit & the black artists were downing the politicians. But in order 2 raise money 2 help the victims, these artists had a fundraising concert! OMG, it’s not enuff that fans already had 2 pay 4 ur music/movie, but now they got 2 pay 4 u 2 “voluntarily” raise $$? Y didn’t u take the $$ directly out of ur pocket? So u gave NOTHING 2 Katrina victims…ur fans did the giving! I haven’t supported any of them since. I’ll take my $$ & give directly 2 charity.
