MORGANTOWN, W.Va. —
A huge taxidermy collection donated to West Virginia University is being auctioned off this week as part of a continuing fund-raising campaign.
Cordie O. Hudkins Jr. died last fall at 74 after a long career with the state Division of Natural Resources. He was superintendent of three different state parks. The avid outdoorsman left his collection to WVU's Natural History Museum.
Money raised from the sale (http://bit.ly/16KclPA) will support wildlife and fisheries students, and help the museum build and expand displays.
Registration begins 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Ruby Community Center at Mylan Park in Morgantown. Auctioneers will start the bidding at 5 p.m.
Professor Jim Anderson calls the condition of many of the animals "exquisite" and says they're worthy of museums.
Some will remain on display at WVU.
