Hermann Tourism Director Position Discussed

The Hermann board of aldermen agreed Monday night to seek candidates for the position of tourism director for the city. It came after some discussion during the regular city council meeting.

A few weeks ago the city terminated Jim Grebing, who had been the city's tourism director for eight years. On the agenda Monday night was an item to discuss that position.

Some board members of the Hermann Area Chamber of Commerce have pushed for hiring a new tourism director since Grebing was fired. Members of the board of aldermen Monday night wanted to discuss who would pay for that position.

Up until now, the tourism director's salary has been paid for out of the city's general fund. It is covered for the rest of the year in the new budget, and that's why the aldermen unanimously agreed to open up the hiring process now.
