Norfolk St hangs on for 26-24 win over Savannah St

The Associated Press

NORFOLK, Va. —

Norfolk State blocked a 49-yard field goal attempt with two seconds left to hold on for a 26-24 win over Savannah State on Saturday.

Trailing 24-23 with just over five minutes to play, Norfolk State (2-3, 2-0 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) drove down the field and set up what turned out to be the game-winning field goal, a 33-yarder by Cameron Marouf with 1:10 left. A personal foul penalty on the ensuing kickoff and a pair of first-down runs by Antonio Bostick helped set up the late field goal attempt for Savannah State (1-5, 0-2) that was blocked.

Norfolk State trailed 9-0 in the second quarter but proceeded to score 17 unanswered points, including a 3-yard touchdown pass from Tyler Clark to Lynden Trail with 1 second remaining in the first half.

Bostick threw for 337 yards and three touchdowns for Savannah State, but also tossed two interceptions.
