A man serving a life prison sentence with no chance of parole will get a new sentence in an east Georgia case.
In a ruling released Monday, the Supreme Court of Georgia threw out the life sentence for Marcus Rolando Moore.
In 2001, when he was 17, Moore pleaded guilty to shooting two people to death in the Richmond County case.
Moore's attorney later challenged the sentence as illegal due to his age, but the trial court denied his motion to correct the sentence. Georgia's highest court reversed the lower court's ruling and ordered the new sentence.
The case now goes back to the Richmond County court, which has been directed to enter another sentence for Moore.
