Georgia State-Alabama Preview Capsule

By The Associated Press

The Associated Press

Georgia State (0-4) at No. 1 Alabama (4-0), 12:21 p.m. (SEC TV)

Line: Alabama by 55 1/2.

Series record: Alabama leads 1-0.

WHAT'S AT STAKE

Alabama should get ample opportunities to play some backups before facing five consecutive Southeastern Conference opponents. Georgia State has never defeated a No. 1 team in any sport.

KEY MATCHUP

Alabama's offensive line vs. Georgia State's defensive front. This is notable mainly because the Crimson Tide blockers have taken some heat with three new starters this season. This game could be a chance to work out some kinks and build confidence.

KEY PLAYERS

Georgia State: WR Albert Wilson. Wilson might be the Panthers' best chance for a big play. His 19.6-yard average per catch leads all active FBS players, and he has 2,470 receiving yards and 19 touchdowns. Wilson had a 97-yard kickoff return for a touchdown in the previous meeting, a 63-7 Alabama win.

Alabama: C Chad Lindsay. He's subbing for injured starter Ryan Kelly after playing much of the game against No. 24 Mississippi. This is a chance to get him more experience.

FACTS & FIGURES

Alabama starts a string of four consecutive games against teams with first-year head coaches and a combined record of 7-11. ... The Tide's AJ McCarron is seeking his 30th win, which would match Harry Gilmer as No. 3 on Alabama's winningest quarterbacks. ... The highest ranked team Georgia State has beaten in any sport was Alabama's second-ranked softball team on April 17, 2012 ... Panthers coach Trent Miles' wife, Bridget, is a 2001 graduate of Alabama.
