Are you a job interview pro?

These days, with a growing number of job seekers competing for a dwindling amount of open positions, landing an interview can seem like quite an accomplishment. But that’s when the real work begins.

Most of us have read interview tips from the experts, and know about the importance of properly preparing for the interview, dressing appropriately, being a good listener, etc. For those of you that have had successful interview experiences, what worked best for you?

But let’s face it, despite all of our preparation, sometimes interviews don’t go as planned. Did you arrive embarrassingly late? Did you freeze on a question from the interviewer? Share your worst interview experiences, as they might help other job seekers out there.

At the top right hand corner of Page 17 of the New York Post of January 24th, 2009, was a short column entitled “Replacing Michelle” in the National Review “The Week” column. My friend found this interesting and forwarded it to me. So here it is, word for word, as it appeared two days ago……

‘Some employees are simply irreplaceable. Take Michelle Obama: The University of Chicago Medical center hired her in 2002 to run “programs for community relations, neighborhood outreach, volunteer recruitment, staff diversity and minority contracting.”

In 2005 the hospital raised her salary from $120,000 to $317,000 - nearly twice what her husband made as a Senator.

Oh did we mention that her husband had just become a US Senator? He sure had. Requested a $1 Million earmark for the UC Medical Center, in fact. Way to network Michelle!

But now that Mrs Obama has resigned, the hospital says her position will remain unfilled. How can that be, if the work she did was vital enough to be worth $317,000?

We can think of only one explanation: Senator Roland Burris’s wife wasn’t interested.

Those thousands of people standing in double lines around a city block were dressed for interviews and talking with specific agency personnel, not dropping by to get a website address.

Look you people need to get a life, how about let’s all start worrying about ourselves and leave other peoples business alone. People are so miserable they have nothing good to say about anyone like “Chris”. Instead of supporting our new presidents, family, as well as his staff we look for a rock to throw, which never can amount to anything good!

I was at an intersection on Ponce and was approached by a young woman about a job. I consulted with the head knob about a job. The knob conferred that we needed someone with skills. She told me she had the skills. She got the job. She works hard for the money. She’s a real pro.
