Time to start a small business?
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
With the rise in layoffs and the prospect of long-term unemployment in tough economic times, more and more people are deciding this is the perfect time to start a small business. And experts say it can be, if you plan wisely and are open to being flexible. While funding may be harder to obtain, it will force potential entrepreneurs to develop a stronger business model that will ultimately give them a better chance of success.
If you are looking for inspiration, Georgia is home to many small business success stories. From The Varsity to Home Depot to Spanx, what started out as a small concept grew into a successful enterprise.
So are you thinking about starting your own business? Do you think it’s wise to start a company during a recession?

I have just started my own small independent publishing house and I’m thrilled and scrared at the same time. I don’t think I would have had the courage to do this if I hadn’t lost my job. Now I’m ready to take the bull by both horns!!

how can you develop a small business, but you know you have a good idea, marketing, sales potential, and location, but no funds to start.Banks will not loan to people with challenged credit. You try to make it sound simple.A lot of people with lay-offs cannot diversify due to credit, that nobody is giving out??SO HOW CAN YOU BEAT THIS??

billy, why do you need a lot of cash to start. Depending on your idea you can start small (and without a lot of money) and grow it into a full time gig as the revenue comes in. This will keep your risk to a min also.
