Not only can you stay in a five-star all-inclusive resort from rates of $79 per person, per night (Barcelo La Jolla De Mismaloya), but I’ve dug up a gem of an airfare deal to make this DIY vacation package extra sweet.

The place to book your resort stay (many of the best deals expire at midnight, July 4) is at Bookit.com.

Samples of the bargains include the all-inclusive Hotel Riu Vallarta, a top family-friendly resort with a Kids Club, day to night activities, all meals, drinks and more at per person, per night rates from $69.

If you like the newest in resorts, try the 4.5-star Dreams Puerto Vallarta Resort and Spa on PVR’s South Shore. This all-inclusive resort offers a $109 per person, per night rate, plus $200 in bonuses and kids stay and play free.

One room-only offer stands out. The Fiesta Americana Puerto Vallarta, an AAA 4-Diamond resort for seven years, offers stays as low as $40 each night, per person with 25 percent discounts for dining, drinks and spa services.

Here’s a link that will take you to the many specials that can include free nights, kids stay and eat free, comp golf, spa treatments, room upgrades and more. Some of the deals are valid on stays through late December.

As to getting to PVR, Frontier offers a sale round-trip rate of $387.38 — inclusive of every tax, fee, surcharge. This rate saves a minimum of $200 per round-trip ticket compared to other carriers (Delta’s best rate during high season is $790!).

Frontier serves PVR via flight connections in Denver. Service is valid only on Saturdays (to and from) on trips through Oct. 31. Then starting Nov. 1, Frontier starts to zipper-in other days of service to and from PVR. Sunday service begins Nov. 1; Tuesdays-Sundays from Nov. 3 and Mondays from Nov. 23. Sale rates are valid on trips finished on or before April 30.

There are several blackout dates to avoid: Nov. 19-21; Dec. 18-27; Feb. 12, 13; March 5, 6, 12-14, 19-21, 26, 27 to Mexico and Nov. 27-30; Dec. 26, 27; Jan. 2, 3; Feb. 15, 20, 21; March 13, 14, 20-22, 27-29; April 3, 4.

A nice plus-feature of this sale is that an advance notice of travel isn’t required. Go this weekend (based on sale seat availability).

Don’t delay to buy Frontier’s deal to Mexico. It could expire at anytime. www.frontierairlines.com.
