Four airlines are offering one of the season’s best values to Europe — one that’s good on departures now through early September.
Get to Zurich with your choice of British Airways (via London), Continental (via Newark), United (via Washington DC-Dulles) or USAirways (via Philadelphia) at base round-trip rates of $293. Rates including all taxes, fees are $618.78 with United; $635.96 British Airways; $640.78 Continental and $640.98 on USAirways.
All participating airlines require a one-week or more advance notice of travel.
To land the lowest rate, travel Monday-Wednesday each way on British Airways or add $30 more one-way for other days.
Pay a $20 one-way premium to travel Friday-Sunday on United.
The $20 weekend supplement applies on Continental when departing Friday or Saturday; Friday-Sunday returns.
Plan to depart for Zurich on or before Sept. 2 on British Airways; by Sept. 12 with the other carriers.
Only USAirways permits travel at this low rate seven days a week, providing sale space is available.
British Airways offers an exclusive stopover option at no additional cost. Stopover in London either to or from Zurich and double your fun with a two-city vacation. The stopover must be determined at the time of ticket purchase. Additional land/hotel costs are not included, but British Airways vacation web site offers excellent package deals at http://www.britishairways.com/travel/british-airways-holidays/public/en_us?link=main_nav
Buy Zurich sale tickets through June 24.
If you haven’t been to Zurich lately, the city has found its hipper side — making it well worth laying your head here for the entire vacation. But do squeeze out time for a full day excursion into the Jungfrau Region and the ski town of Grindelwald for that Heidi experience. By mid-day you’ll be hiking along wildflower-lined trails and paths with the sounds of cow bells for an idyllic serenade. Tours can easily be arranged at your hotel or tourist offices.
