Connie Dodgen bio
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Connie Dodgen was born and raised in Hampton, across from the city park. She moved once in her life — 30 years ago when she married — but only went three miles outside the Hampton city limits. So she is a true Hampton resident!
Connie started volunteering when she was 15 and loved it. Connie has always had a big heart for people with special needs and in 1978 God placed a mentally challenged daughter in her family’s life. She continued to volunteer with her daughter’s activities through preschool, elementary school, church, 4-H, Girl Scouts and Camp Fortson Youth Camp. In 1985 another daughter was born and Connie continued to volunteer with her activities.
Connie volunteers for people with special needs as one of the directors of the annual Mr. and Miss Special Henry County Pageant and also serves as public relations chairman for the Henry County Parks and Recreation Special Olympics Management Team. In her spare time, Connie enjoys reading, scrapbooking, attending Lonestar concerts with family and friends, buying and selling on eBay and bargain shopping.
