More traffic lights may be worth the cost

We all know that Fayetteville has plenty of traffic lights, buut I think most of us would agree that there are a few locations that are still in need of a signal to help keep traffic flowing.

The first place that comes to my mind is where Beauregard Blvd. and Ga. 85 intersect. If you’ve ever been on Beauregard (it’s called Redwine further down) trying to turn left onto Ga. 85, then you know you’re taking your life in your hands.

Usually, you have to time it so that you wind up in the suicide lane and hope that nobody else needs to use that lane. I know it might be irritating since a signal already exists at Ga. 85 and 54, which is a very short distance from where I’m talking about.

But really, if adding the inconvenience of an extra light to save a life or deter an accident, wouldn’t it be worth it? Where do you think a traffic light should be installed? Or is there an existing light that you think is unnecessary?

If you need to get onto 85 from Beauregard, why not just reverse and get to the light at Grady and 85. It’s not that much farther.

I agree with you Daniel. Why take a risk when there’s an alternative nearby. I would however like to see a light where South Jeff David intersects into Jeff Davis. If you are driving up S. Jeff Davis and want to take a left at Jeff Davis (down from Jordans Salvage) you are definitely taking a risk. If anyone is nice enough to let you out the way that Jeff Davis is right there will just make drivers behind them think they are stopping to make a right turn and they go around. The cars on s.jeff davis has to basically sit there forever and really punch the gas to get out or just go right and try to turn around somewhere.

red, you can use an alternate route also and cut down through the newer road (i think it is helens sams road) that comes out at the intersection where hwy 92S breaks off towards publix, there is a light so i am sure you can get where you need to safely from there.

Thanks le I don’t really know which road you are referring to but for me its worth investigating. It’s funny you would mention Publix because that’s exactly where I’m trying to go. There or Kroger or Blockbuster. I would rather make the left out of my subdivision onto s jeff davis and the right on Inman and drive all the way around sometimes rather than try to get on jeff davis from s. jeff davis.

Another location is Hwy 54 and Corinth Road. During rush times, the traffic on Corinth Road can back up for a half-mile and take forever to be able to turn left.
