Do we need more teen hangouts?
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
With very few options in Fayetteville, local teenagers don’t have many places to go for entertainment.
There’s the bowling alley, the movie theater, Dixieland (an amusement park) and the usual selection of restaurants. Consequently, when I’ve driving around the environs I usually see them congregating at places, such as outside Arby’s, the parking lot in front of Michael’s and of course, at both movie theaters, Tinseltown and the dollar theater.
Personally, it doesn’t bother me at all. If they like to just “hang out” whether it’s to talk, skateboard or drool over someone’s car, then that’s fine with me. Obviously, if they are being destructive to property or causing harm to someone that’s another story. But since the days of malt shops and sock hops are long gone and we have no teen center in Fayetteville…what’s a teen to do?
Does it bother you when you seen teenagers hanging out somewhere? And do you think the city should provide some sort of activity center for teenagers? Did you grow up in Fayette County? If so, where were your favorite teen hangouts? Or, if you grew up elsewhere, was there a town hangout for teens?
