Jordan’s Salvage: One man’s trash is another’s treasure
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Many of us who live in Fayetteville are familiar with Jordan’s Salvage.
His array of …umm… “stuff” takes up nearly the entire block at Jeff Davis Blvd. and Ga. 54. There are used rusty bicycles, dilapidated chairs missing legs, old worn out doors and cabinets. There are grimy golf clubs. There is a very old structure that appears to be on the brink of falling down.
You know the place. Like if you move one item out of place, the whole building just might collapse.
If you’ve driven by and saw it for the first time, you just might wonder why such an eyesore exists. But if you take a closer look, you might be surprised. With the push to “go green” and recycle, don’t you think this a perfect place to pick up a second hand item?
Wouldn’t it be a worthy investment to purchase something that needed a little extra cleaning and scraping for the sake of the environment and your wallet?
I know some of you think the whole business should be shut down simply because you just can’t stand the way it looks. But really, in this day and age, don’t you think he’s just like everybody else…trying to make a buck in an honest way?

Why are you even bringing this place up? Are you just trying to stir up conflict? It seems that every few years or so, his place comes into debate. I say leave him alone and let him run his business. For his sake, I just hate to see this argument brought up again.

I don’t consider his place an eyesore. I just have a hard time bringing myself to stop by and look around unlike my husband. I have been there twice and carefully surveyed his merchandise. For the reasons you stated I was hesitant about actually going into the “building”. But you are absolutely right. Recycling is very important and for that lesson alone I may just stop by with my kids on the next pretty day we have. Lots of other folks do.

I consider Jordon’s to be Fayette county’s Big Chicken, and I have heard from a number of sources that Mr. Jordon is a wealthy man. I imagine that prime piece of real estate is worth a good deal even in this economy. Considering the price of scrap metal these days that place is a GOLD mine!
Yes, We should all recycle every thing we can. I often shop at thrift stores. There is something about finding a hidden treasure. Not long ago I found four, like new, gas stove grates for my stove at the Goodwill in Jonesboro. My old ones were chipped. I’d priced them through GE and rejected the $88 each price. I paid five dollars for all four!!!I
I have ramble through Jordon’s from time to time and have made a purchase or two. It is an artist’s paradise!!!
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder! Jordon’s is a work of art!
