Cheers on new measure allowing alcohol by the glass
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Hooray for Fayetteville!
We finally approved a measure in this last election that will allow Sunday sales of alcoholic beverages by the drink. Whether you imbibe or not, it’s simply nice to have the choice…finally.
I very rarely drink, but on the few occasions when I’d like a little something on a Sunday, now I can. What about you? Are you disappointed by this recently passed measure or are you celebrating with a hot toddy?

I moved here 16 years ago and never understood the difference between buying a glass of wine on Sunday at a restuarant or going to a home improvement store and buying a lawn mower on Sunday. Since I am considerably older than 21, no one has the right to tell me if I can or cannot have a cocktail; regardless of the day of the week.

I am a Christian and I drink. There, I said it. As a Christian, I know that God turned water into wine. If wine was around during Jesus’ time, why do we get so uptight about it being around now and on Sunday? If I want to drink on Sunday, I will do like most people and buy it on Saturday from my local adult beverage salesman. I think that the recent vote should have been passed long ago. If you don’t like it then don’t order a cocktail on Sunday…PERIOD. That’s why God gave us all free will a.k.a. freedom of choice.

I too am a Christian and I don’t drink. I don’t need to buy alcohol any day of the week but to me, as a Christian, it’s sad that Sunday is being treated as any other day of week. I can remember when Sunday was a day of worship and rest. Not many worship or rest anymore..on any day of the week and as a society, we will pay the price.

“Liquor by the drink” is term you’re looking for. Hope it doesn’t drive what local places remain in FC out of business. Licences can be expensive, and FC has too many franchised frozen food servers as it is. Bring back JW Cauley’s!
