Fido goes to college too!
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
I’m an animal lover from way back, especially dogs.
I grew up with dogs and have a couple of nutty mutts now. I also know dogs are a lot of work. They need attention, walking, feeding, medical care, and who knows what else. But lately, I’ve been hearing about college-age kids having dogs and cats in their apartments.
And while I understand the love of animals…that just seems so…umm (you fill in the word) at that time in someone’s life. That last thing I wanted while attending college was an animal of any kind.
Even fish would have been an annoyance. Yes, dogs are adorable and can be wonderful company after hours of classwork, but it just seems like a big inconvenience. But like so many things I don’t understand, I’m hoping one of you readers can help me see the light on this one. Do you know any college kids with animals? Has the animal helped them in any way?
