Gift becomes a daughter’s dilemma

I’ve got a small dilemma and could use some advice.

In the last year of my father’s life, he had a wonderful, extraordinary caretaker. He was truly a gift to humanity and my father.

They were more like brothers, and I’ll be forever grateful for all he did for my dad. After my pop passed away (a little more than five years ago), his caretaker sent my brother and me two beautifully framed, very large sketches of my dad.

I guarantee you he spent a lot of money on the frames and sending them here from California. I think he had a friend draw the pictures from old photos and hopefully didn’t pay for that service.

Problem is neither my brother nor I like them, or have any intention of putting them on display. There is also no chance David, the caretaker, will ever know what we did with them. But of course, my guilty conscious is working my brain. I’ll probably give the frames away as they’re not my style, but the act of throwing away a sketch of my dad is just killing me.

Have you ever been in this predicament? What did you do and what do you suggest?
