What next after Hallmark store closing?

I know I must sound like the bearer of bad news when it comes to business closings, but I’m just trying to keep my Fayetteville community aware of what’s coming and going to save you an unnecessary trip.

So here goes: The Hallmark Store on Ga. 85 next to Kroger in Fayetteville is closing.

So now you’ll either have to take your business to the one in the Pavilion or in Peachtree City. It’s really frustrating because as one new business comes in (Latitude 33 Steak & Seafood) another leaves.

So what does it take to keep a fairly small shopping center intact? Yes, Kroger is clearly the anchor store, but I certainly thought the Hallmark Store could hold it’s own based on the name.

And since I receive Hallmark coupons it was very convenient to stop in that location. I’m not sure what the space will be used for or if Kroger plans to expand, but either way, it’s another loss. I know if I had my choice, I’d love to see a bakery or some kind of Whole Foods Market of Trader Joes in the space. What about you? What kind of business would you like to see?

You mentioned Latitude 33 Steak and Seafood in the story about the Hallmark store closing. If Latitude 33 doesn’t do something, they’ll be closing next. We ate there two weeks ago and the food was terrible. We had the grouper and the salmon and they were both so overcooked and dry, they were barely edible. Maybe this will work as a wake-up call to them, so they’ll improve and not end up another sad statistic in Fayette County commerce.

They are closing because The Center did not renew their lease . Kroger is expanding to their space. They had a good business and did not want to move,

If the Hallmark store had a good business, hopefully they will move across the street to Summitt Point and continue to serve this community. I also would like to see a Trader’s Joe or a vegan restaurant.

We need a Whole Foods south of Atlanta! I’ve been e-mailing the company weekly for two years - they need to hear from the rest of you.
