Competition for pizza lover heats up in Fayette
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
I want to talk about pizza - a food I absolutely love.
If you’re feeling a little down, it’s one of those things that can pick up your spirits, kind of like ice cream.
It’s not one of those items you usually eat by yourself. There’s just something about a pizza that makes for a gathering.
And here in Fayetteville, we have the usual pizza chains, including Papa Johns and Pizza Hut. But there’s a new pizza joint in town and if you’re hankering for a real New York/New Jersey style kind of pizza, I think this is as close as it gets.
The place is called Mangarelli’s and is owned by two guys from (ofcourse) New Jersey. And while I’m not from the Northeast, my husband is, and agrees if you’re looking for the East coast pizza pie, thin-crust-style, this is the place to get it.
I love the Margherita pizza, which is topped with fresh tomatoes and chunks of melted mozzarella. The Greek salad is also wonderful. It is located on Ga. 54 about a mile west of Ga. 85 next to a gym (I think the gym is called Maximum Output).
It’s open Monday through Saturdays for lunch and dinner and you owe it to yourself to check it out.
No doubt when you’re there you’ll hear some New York-eese sounding people. It kind of adds to the atmosphere. So, in conclusion, I have to say Mangarelli’s is my new favorite pizza joint in Fayetteville.
Where do you go when you want pizza in Fayetteville or Fayette County? And what’s your favorite type of pizza? Thin-crust? Thick crust? Veggie? Meat lovers?

I am excited to see Upscale Pizza coming soon in the old McAlisters building. I understand that is being operated by Truitt Cathy. So it has to be good.

The National Chains aren’t worthy of business. I still prefer a golf cart ride to Partners Pizza here in PTC.
I will say, the place on 54 in Fayetteville, across from the Southern Federal Credit Union has good pie, but my golf cart doesn’t have quite that much range. :)

I tried Mangarelli’s on Saturday night and it was FABULOUS! It’s a MUST TRY. Of course, poor guys are just starting out and need to get more seating (darn Fayette County tax laws - can anyone say “FAIR-TAX”), but it’s worth the drive over there to pick up and take home for a delicious movie and pizza Friday night at home!
Pies on Pizza (Hwy 54 across from Southern Fed CU) is also DELICIOUS and FABULOUS. They too need more room, but it’s wonderful to sit outside in Spring, early Summer and Fall and enjoy their pizza.
Man, all this pizza talk makes me want to rethink “Friday” Night Pizza and make it “Monday” Night Pizza! Mangarelli’s - here I come!

Apparently those who have posted other than the gentleman(woman) that mentioned the place across from the credit union haven’t been to Pies on Pizza. It’s been in operation just east of Jordan Sales for several years and has outstanding pizza. Abby you need to check it out before announcing Fayetteville’s best pizza. The only recommendation I have gotten conerning Mangarelli’s is NOT to eat there.

Mangarelli’s beats Pies On, hands down, for north-east neopolitan pizza. I’m not saying Pies On isn’t great, because it is. But up north, Pies On would be more of a specialty pie, that one would only order 2-3 times a year and pay almost $20 to get it. Mangarelli’s is the real deal.
And, I cannot agree with anyone who thinks Partners is actually pizza (you can get that in a school cafeteria).
