Spring break — What’s on your agenda?
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
With spring break just around the corner, I’m certain many Peachtree City families will pack their cars and SUVs for the beautiful beaches of Florida. That’s one annual rite of spring that never seems to change.
However, for those whose budgets or work schedules don’t include a week at the beach, spring break also can be a time to enjoy a few other rites of spring that are more economical and closer to home.
Since it doesn’t look like I’ll be burying my toes in the sand any time soon, the top five things I would like to do next week include:
1) Go strawberry picking at Adams Farm on Ga. 54. According to the farm’s answering machine, they expect to open for their annual berry-picking season next week. Check their website: www.adamsfarmfayettevillega.com for updates.
2) Take a bike ride on some of Peachtree City’s newly repaved cartpaths and go on a family picnic in the park. My husband and I enjoy the ride; the picnic is our boys’ incentive to join us. It’s a win-win.
3) Go canoeing on Lake Peachtree in the early morning or late afternoon. Need I say more.
4) Go to a Braves game. The home opener is Friday, April 6, at Turner Field. Baseball, peanuts and hotdogs in nice weather. Nothing better.
5) Check out the newly renovated Fountain of Rings at Centennial Olympic Park. Sunscreen is a must; ice cream cones are optional.
What will you do next week? What would you suggest for folks not traveling out of town?
