Deaths of animals raise concern?
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
The Georgia Aquarium and other major aquariums throughout the country have experienced the loss of major attractions.
In Atlanta, it was whale sharks Ralph and Norton and beluga whale Gasper. In Chicago it was a beluga whale that had recently given birth. And in Monterey, Calif., the problem was blue sharks and, later, a suddenly aggressive —- and very popular —- Great White.
The death of the second whale shark in six months at the Georgia Aquarium unleashed a wave of negative publicity and stinging criticism. It rekindled the debate over whether aquariums should attempt to exhibit oceangoing creatures.
Have these deaths shaped your views in any way about aquariums? Please explain.
