Hmm … my son is only 6 now. I look forward to the days when his summer plans have a lot to do with the lawn mower. And mine don’t. :)

My 14 year old will be running his lawn care business to earn extra money since there are no programs for teenagers any more unless you are of extremely low income. He also will be babysitting his 4 1/2 year old sister during the day while we are working. My daughter will atend gymnastics classes on Saturday mornings for $52 a month. My son I will be training together to prepare him for 9th grade football tryouts and basketball tryouts in the Fall.

Ajamu:
My younger brother started mowing lawns when he was 14. He’s 20 now, and is running his own company. He actually hires friends and school kids to help during busy season, so it’s definitely a good way to go (if you can handle the heat). I think he probably makes more than I did as a teacher in DeKalb!

Mowing lawns is too dangerous for kids. Every year hundreds of kids are injured.
Pool cleaning for teenage males is the best job there is. Get good tan, flexible hours, tax-free cash and “fringe benefits”, especially the days after “Desperate Housewives” episodes.
