In favor of PATH trails through neighborhoods?
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Are PATH trails through neighborhoods good idea?
Some people love the trails that provide access through neighborhoods for running, walking and biking. Others oppose trails running along their property, citing safety concerns and the loss of green space.
Recent trails built along Tanyard Creek in Buckhead were both praised and panned.
What do you think? Are trails through intown neighborhoods a good idea? Bad idea? Please explain.

It all depends on what part of DeKalb County you are considering these trails. I think North DeKalb would provide some good and safe locations for such trails, but I’ll be darn if I ever get on a trail in South DeKalb. I would be setting myself up to be a statistic in that part town. Also, I don’t think the residents in South DeKalb would KEEP the trails nice…they would end up being locations for drug deals and other crimes.

jacob is an idiot.
Plus PATH trails have been shown not to increase crime, but increase property values.
This is typical dumb AJC questions.

Jacob is from WAY out in left field, but why should Joe’s answer be published three times and call it four comments.
We should have bike trails on collector streets that go somewhere - sidewalks ONLY inside neighborhoods.
I see nothing about PATH that should give them a monopoly on design or construction of these trails.
