Can Clayton lure new businesses?
A few new businesses are trickling into Clayton County. At a time when much of the attention is focusing on problems in the school system, it’s refreshing to learn new jobs are being created. Read my latest blog entry on Wordpress

Will you watch history unfold?
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Whether or not you voted for President-elect Barack Obama , you can’t ignore the history being made this week, and the Martin Luther King holiday is an ideal preface to his swearing in.
I wanted to attend the inauguration so badly that I requested the day off back in October and arranged to stay with friends in Maryland. I planned to meet more friends in D.C. for a long weekend of fun and creating our own memories and history in the process.
As January 20 drew closer, we discovered many Americans had the same idea that we did. Friends warned of all the precautions put in place due to the number of people flocking to DC and how difficult it would be getting around, among other things. Begrudgingly, we opted not to deal with the crowds but instead watch from the comfort of our homes while chatting via conference call. Not the history any of us imagined experiencing, but a nice memory nonetheless.
Arrangements are being made all over to allow folks to witness history. Many places of business are setting up televisions to air the day’s events. There are also several “watch parties” going on in and around the metro Atlanta area.
Will you be attending the Inauguration in Washington D.C.? If not, where will you watch (at home or a watch party)? DVR/taping it to watch later? Or will you skip it all together?
If you plan to witness history live and in person, please come back and share your experience with us!
Happy Martin Luther King Day Clayton!

I am hoping the kids at my school will be allowed to watch the ceremony. With the single (simple) minded emphasis on direct instruction and no “fluff”, I am concerned that we will not be able to see it.

You can buy 1 million Barack pins and t-shirts, and play Young Jeezy’s song all day long….it doesn’t cahnge your environment.
Barack is in washington and making Federal policy…people need to be concerned withtheir cities turning into shooting ranges…..declining home values and an unaccredited school system…..Barack has not addressed those things for Clay Co and probably never will.
Congrats to him for this historic moment but lets not lose sight of the dream that is before us..teh dream that we can have a safe and prosperous community with a high black population…Clayton has shown that this is damn near impossible…..FIX that and quit watching Washington DC…in 4 years when his term ends or in 8 yrs…..what will your county look like?

If you want to celebrate Barack…..fix your behavior…you act like savages then want to blame Bush and the white man for all your problems.
The fact that EVERY street in the USA name after MLK is a ghetto and a hot bed for crime….make all MLK blvds a ritzy area….thats celebrating a legacy!

It is my sincere hope that our new President of the United States Of America, President Barack Hussein Obama can inspire the sorry, lazy, worthless, ghetto minded, crime and gang mentality, low pants wearing and sagging, gangster looking and acting, ignorant, dumb, and stupid acting Section 8 youths, young adults, and teen-agers that now overpopulate Clayton County that only listen to negative violent rap music that glorifies violence and demeans our black women.
While I am very happy and pleased that the majority of White America voted for President Obama in such large and overwhelming numbers, thereby assuring his victory over John McCain and have such high hopes that he will make this country great again in the eyes of the entire world, I am concerned that he will not be able to reach or inspire the negative ghetto minded, criminally minded, violent prone, drug dealing, low pants wearing and sagging, negative rap playing black youths, young adults, and teen-agers that have overtaken Clayton County and have made Clayton County the haven, home, and headquarters of criminal, gang, and drug dealing, distribution, and a meeting place for all of these thugs, lowlifes, and degenerates from the Metropolitian Atlanta, Georgia area.

I am so glad and happy that our new African (Black) American President Of The United States Of America President Barack Hussein Obama represents and is a great reflection on all that is good and right with African (Black) Americans with him being married to one strong, positive, intelligent, smart, and beautiful African (Black) American woman Michelle Obama and raising two beautiful, smart, intelligent, and well mannered daughters Malia and Sasha Obama.
It is a positive reflection on the black race in that there are many others who believed that this type of family unity, structure, and togetherness does not exist in great numbers in the black family community and that positive black television shows that showed a strong, stable, and together black family like The Cosby Show that aired on television for eight years from 1984-1992 and is now in reruns are in the extreme minority.
Even though White America is already inspired by President Obama and are excited about the great things he will do for us all in these great United States Of America, I hope that he will influence and change the destructive, negative, and thuggish ways of a great many of the youths, young adults, and teen-agers who are a negative and bad reflection on President Obama and the positive things he is doing for race relations not only in the United States Of America but in the entire world.
Unfortunately in Clayton County, we have more of the negative, destructive, ghetto, noncaring, apathetic, don’t care and do not want to care, tolerate anything, nonmotivated, and lazy black youths, young adults, teen-agers, and families than the positive, upstanding, right, caring, professional, intelligent, smart, and intact families that President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle, and his two daugthers Malia and Sasha represent.
It is my hope that Clayton County will have more positive African (Black) American families like President Obama and his family who will move to Clayton County than the negative, noncaring, apathetic, lazy, and mediocre families that are presently moving here in large and overwhelming numbers.

I can’t believe the board did what they did to Thompson, when we so blessed to have our very own Barack Obama, the living embodiment of Martin Luther King’s dream right here in Clayton in Dr. Thompson.
Ever since Thompson arrived, there’s been no more negative talk about behavior problems and thugs and gang members in the schools, and that’s a testiment to Dr. Thompson’s leadership.
Dr. Thompson commands such respect, and is so positive about the system, and the students responded, as they always do, to respectful leaders. Teachers have noticed it as well, as many of them now model their teaching presence after the example set by Dr. Thompson.
Why isn’t this being talked about more? Why not interview some of the many students who dropped out of gangs, because they had such a positive role model in Dr. Thompson to finally look up to?

I see John Thompson is posting here on Kimberly’s site. Ask the Seniors from last year how much they respect and look up to him. Ask this years Seniors the same question. I could tell you their answers but I don’t use that much profanity. Is he totally responsible. No. Does He share a LARGE share of the blame. ABSOLUTELY. Do I respect him? ABSOLUTLY NOT. He is just an egotistical bag of Poo filled with lots and lots of hot air. He got treated better than he deserved to. Shame on the current BOE for that.

Clayton would be better off with a white superintendent.
If white people are involved, their interests will be protected…..Let me break down for these bufoons in Clay Co.
Katrina….if it were a white tow, they wou;d have been evacuated more quickly
Neal St Shootings…if black officers shot a 92yr old white lady and lied about..no body would walk free
Loss of accreditation..If this was Fayette or Alpharetta…it never would have been allowed to happen
White people are your protection….As long as they are around or involved..you will be protected. You think if we had more white people living in Clayton, going to Clayton schools the county would have gone down like it has? NO!!!!!
So the moral of the story is..white people are GOOD for Clayton CO.

Why do blacks flcok to buy Churche’s McDonalds..Popeyes etc…How come a WHOLE FOODS store isn’t in any black areas? Because they eat fatening NASY food by choice
Why do black woman spend millions on weave and wigs that are sold by Koreans? The don’t use that horse hair, but they sell it to you and get rich, send theor kids to good schools, while you remain poor but feel good because you hae FAKE long hair?
You get a black Sheriff..he acts very unprofessional and embarasses the county
You electa black DA…who was a real estate attonrney with no experience….so she lets gang members who shot a child at a park get off
You have lound angry black woman on the BOE whose behavior eventually costs the county accreditiation
Your kids graduate highschool yet can’t make a sentence…”Is I’m the Winner?” Is that the language of someone who gos to school 7hrs a day?

Say no one had ever been elected to the board and talked about the land deal, the dirty dealings of some board members, and the low teacher morale and the actual problems that face teachers in Clayton.
Let’s just imagine no controversy at all, everybody getting along for the greater good.
Do you think you would have a world class school system? Do you think teachers would feel supported? To you think all the gangs in the school, and all the other behavior problems, would have just magically disappeared?
Do you think you’d have test scores you could be proud of?
What happens when everybody goes into full go along to get along mode, to make sure that SACS doesn’t have an excuse not to restore accreditation? Do you really think that by ignoring those issues, for the sake of getting along, you’re going to have a public school system that is fully functional?
No, what you’re going to have is a school system that is no longer in the news; and a school system that will be much more prone in the future to sweeping things under the rug, out of fear of drawing attention to itself. It’ll be a good front, and after all, isn’t that’s what’s really important to Clayton?
One more thing. Do you think if the board had always spoke in the most civil of tones, with no raising of voices do you really, really, think they would have still kept accreditation? If so, I’d like to negoiate your next land deal for you.

Charter is strong with Bush, not with Hill and the Scotts. Look at the way Bush has welcomed the Obama family into the Whitehouse and helped with the transition. Now look at how Victor Hill and Jewell Scott handled their transistion. It is all about one’s true character. You may bash Bush for all that he did wrong, but don’t forget that he was more of a man than Hill and the Scotts could ever be.
By Just remember how foolish you sound before you post again
January 20, 2009 11:19 AM | Link to this
If you have to stoop all the way down, no pun intended, to the level of Victor Hill to find someone to compare Bush favorably to, you aren’t doing him any favors in defining his legacy.
Saying Bush is more of a man than Hill will ever be is about as powerful as saying a stem cell is more of a human than a rock will ever be. Not exactly the stuff legends are made of.

I think the above poster was comparing how to work together from one administration to another, and not necessarily the persons. But your post definitely showed your character. You could have easily discussed the difference and not criticized the poster. Isn’t that what President Obama just talked about? “Put aside the petty differences.” Its obvious that you have a ways to go, but then again that may be your character.

Answer: Too many Section-8, ghetto trashy people who moved here, weither they be from the ATL or elsewhere. These people are like locusts which move into an area, destroy it, and then moved out and onward to better pastures. Things won’t get better until all the trash leaves. FACE IT!

Thus far I have been able to avoid watching any of the inauguration except on the radio.
I disagree that this was an historic event to the extent that many others do. When, and only when, we can elect and inaugurate a president without any reference to the color of his/her skin, will we have a truly historic inauguration.
Going forward, I pray that we can judge the Obama presidency based on his deeds and accomplishments. He has a very tough row to hoe to turn this ship of state, especially with the nutcases he has to deal with in the congress and senate.
If he can restore the beliefs that made this country strong and instill those beliefs in the people of the country we will come out even stronger than before. Beliefs in Individual Responsibility, Capitalism, Freedom, Liberty, and Limited Government, are what has made the country great. If President Obama can restore these he will be thought a great president. If he can’t, I fear the very existence of this republic may be in jeopardy.

Michael here is a reality check. The republic is already threatened! Your republican ex president socialized the banking industry thus the very pillar of capitalisim. While his cronies received millions of dollars while the regulators looked the other way. The socialized banking industry even refuses to tell us what they did with the first half of the bailout money. Well the story is starting to unfold that they bought their own stock thus increasig their net worth. They did not losen up credit lending to “stimulate the economy”. Remember blacks only make up 12% of the population of the United States so Obama WAS elected without regard to race! He was elected because Bush was an idiot who was clueless when it came to domestic policy. Obame spoke on individual responsibilty. It will take all of us to roll up our sleves and volunteer to help the less fortunate, donate time, energy and money to causes that made America strong. Are you old enough to remmber how everyone contributed to the war effort during WW2? It will take that type of effort. Obama was clear on that. Limited government is a pipe dream! It has never happened and it will never happen. Why< because as the population grows so will the demands and responsibility of Government. Obama spoke on that as well. It’s not wheter government is too big or small but whether it works! As far as liberty is concerned I hope one of his first executive orders will be to repeal the Patriot Act which stripped Americans of their Bill of Rights. In case you have been on Mars for the last 8 years, the country is in jeorpardy now. This why he was elected in the first place. A good place to start would be right here in Clayton County. Can we roll up our sleeves and get busy rebuilding Clayton County or just sit on the side line and sling mud at those who are trying to do something?

Why can we not rid ourselves of power by proxy - first with John Trotter and the long continuing saga of his messing with the BOE and even his dabble into commissioners - Miss Virginia Gray - and then Lee Scott in the justice system - sherriff and DA and the commissioners - and now the Wade Starr’s trio on the BOC. They want to make the work sessions not open to the public. Anyone heard of sunshine laws. We demanded that all meetings of the BOE be public - meetings, work sessions and even training sessions. We should expect no less from the people who manage the monies for the running of our county. Shame on you Wole Raiph and Wade Starr. Everyone get ready for a new round of news stories showing Clayton to be full of fools and crooks - this time on the BOC, Board of Commissioners.

TO- razor sharp - to bad you are not.
George Bush got an America so lax on security and lax in keeping American safe - that even tho we knew - Bin Laden was the mastermind of attacks on our military in places around the world and on other nations - President Clinton - the first black president - refused to take him into custody - even when offered up on a silver platter by our allies in Africa. He said that he did not know of any law he broke, so how could we arrest him. Maybe if he and the Democrats had not gutted the military and the forbidden the working relationship between the CIA and the FBI - Clinton would have had a better idea of how the world really is. But no, he was too busy hound-dogging trying to stack up another roll in the hay.
Bush inherited a recession - admittedly not as deep as the one we have now. Tax cuts were put in place - investments bloomed and the inflation rate through all 8 years remained remarably low and for 98 percent of his Presidency unemployment was below that of Clintons 8 years. Wait till OBAMA raises taxes - investments in US tank even further - the DOW goes below 4000 and then see what a good time we will be having then. No investments - no jobs. Only the government jobs programs promised by the Democrats - by soaking the so-called rich. Guess what when you scare all the rich our of our country and make the rest not-rich, then where will the Democrats find money. I know - just print more - inflation in the 100% or 500% range - then in short order our country will look like Mexico- Venezuela - Angola - Zimbabwe.
Gas will go up again - with India and China online it is inevitable. Unless you can think of a way to drink beer and malt liquor and as a by-product - fill up your tank - then that is the way it is.
The present economoic situation can be laid at both the feet of the Democrats and Republicans. First the Democrats pushing banks to give a home loan to anyone who can breath, and then the Republicans for thinking oversite was not needed.
Grow up - or at least grow a brain and try to use it correctly.

Obama was elected because the mass consortium of voters in this nation swallow the biased, opinion-filled puke that the television media spews hourly. I would like to see someone do a poll of Obama’s voters and find out how many actually took the time to research his history and platforms before they chose to vote for him. How many voters’ research extended beyond CNN, ABC, CBS, and NBC? I am willing to bet that most voters don’t even watch C-SPAN.
By And?

And I guess Bush was elected twice because the mass consortium of voters in this nation suddenly decided to become policy wonks, read and reread every paper Bush put out, and compare his philosophy on government to those who came before him, all the way back to the Founding Fathers.
I guess that explains why, during the 2000 campaign, the Federalist Papers suddenly reappeared on the New York Times best seller list and the number one selling T-shirt was one with a picture of Alexander Hamilton on it.
Ironically those Bush supporters didn’t watch C-SPAN either. Turns out they preferred to go to the original source documents.

No chance the BOC will be removed like the BOE. Sonny doesn’t have a dog in that fight, and Elgart doesn’t have a shock collar like accreditation that he can use on the BOC.
There were very specific reasons for Elgart and Sonny to want to remake the board. The board’s totally foolish behavior was the excuse, not the reason, to remove them.
Doesn’t mean this board is doing any better. Obviously, they’re not. It’s just that it’s laughable that people are using Eldrin’s lawsuit as an excuse to portray him as a knight in shining armor whose only concern is what’s best for the citizens of Clayton.
By BOC must stand for Board of Children

This BOC is acting like a bunch of six year olds. So now there’s a new majority. You would think that before dragging Clayton’s name in the mud any more, they might work on some things that the majority of the people, since that’s who they claim to represent, would actually approve of.
Instead they come across as a group of kids who got the coolest toys for Christmas, and now they are using them to freeze out the class bully.
And the bully, who doesn’t like the fact that he got knocked off this throne, has now become the class tattletale.

I doubt the BOC has the citizens best interest in mind. Wade Starr is just trying to climb back in the driver’s seat. Eldrin just trying to hang on to power and the commissioners are just the puppetts Starr needs to do his bidding. In the mean time, We the people suffer. This song is getting old in Clayton County! How long will the citizens remain quite on this one?

Is it time to start the BOC recalls yet? I would say we give them another month to straighten out, or we put them out of office. They want to play, we can play too!

Naw, Gunny, everyone has your number…you’re the one who constantly talks back to yourself in your myriad of phoney names (Clayton Taxpayer, et al.). How can you be “Clayton Taxpayer” when you live in Henry and work in DeKalb? Go on. Keep spewing the most vile diatribes against Clayton County and its citizens. Have you ever lived in Clayton or worked in Clayton? I believe that you hail from the very cosmopolitan area of South Georgia (not far, I think, from Reidsville). Perhaps this is where you developed your sensitive, compassionate, and erudite ways. I must admit that blogging To Anonymously Attack is cheap entertainment, I suppose. When you see him, tell ole Crawford that I said “hello,” OK? Don too. Are those Sweet Onions that I am smelling? I need to run. I’m going to drink me some Açai Juice so that I can be strong enough to return to this blog every two or three months and so that Oprah can make some more money. This week, I just have too much time on my hand. Tchau.

Yeah, it~s ole Earl agin. My home computer and my condo computer were banned from the AJC blogs. Still are. The Mrs. is happy cause she~´s had me learning bridge here in the condo. I actually snuck down the street to use one of these internet coffee houses on Las Olas Blvd. I love Ft. Liquordale, but I miss being able to talk to the regular folk in Clayton County — not that imposter Gunny. I think perhaps he got me banned cause I was getting all of the attention. Cousin Elvin is now in the Bahamas doing his evangelistic work and making money galore. He keeps tellin~’ me that I missed my calling. He says, “Cousin, there~s money in preaching!” He says that I just have too much Cabbagetown and Clayco in my blood. I told him that I am a prophets, and prophets don~’t make money. Why is everyone [really the Gunny monikers] so upset that there are some political moves taking place on the Board of Commissioners? Heck, it~’ politics. Pure and simiple. You think Griz, Bray, Bell, and all have never tried to count to three? Quit getting your panties in a wad. Wade, step carefully, though, cause I hear that this Gunny fellow can be very nasty on the net. Oops, the Mrs. is calling.

After reading the comments about the Board of Commissioners on this blog it is evident that the negative bloggers do not or even have not attended a Board of Commissioner meetings.

I attend all BOC meetings! What is your point? They are acting like children again. ALL O THEM! I would support a recall anyway. Look at this county and the shape it’s in. Two questions for you. Is Clayton County and better place or a worse place after 1,2,3,4,5, years? Take your pick!

Eldrin should thank his lucky stars every morning he wakes up that the majority of voters don’t attend the commission meetings, and the majority of voters who go to the meetings should thank their lucky stars there’s not a shooting range in the Commissioners Board Room.

EARL - or for truthful purposes - John Trotter. This is one of your oldest blog names - remember News-Daily - or just another long suppressed entity from your multiple-personality disorder that you obviously suffer from. On the other hand - we, the public, suffer most from your delicately balanced situation. It is nice but also sad at the same instance that you have this imaginary world you escape into from time to time. God help you.

PEOPLE OF CLAYTON CO. LOOK AT HOW EVIL ELDRIN BELL LOOKED YESTERDAY IN COURT, HE HAS NO INTENTION OF LOOKING OUT FOR THE people of clayton co. PLEASE YOU GAVE HIM A CHANCE AND HE MESSED IT UP,SO DO WHATS RIGHT NEXT TIME AROUND AND VOTE HIM OUT OF THERE,REMEMBER THE DAYS OF UNCLE TOM ARE GONE IN 2009 WITH OBAMA BEING IN THE WHITE HOUSE!

Yes it is inspiring that president Obama was Inaugurated. But I do not expect him to “FIX” the problems here in Clayton County. You might not like Bell but i it is a choice between Lee Scott and Eldin Bell. Bell will get my vote every time. To you Bell might look evil. But to me the Scott’s ARE evil. Having said that IF a candidate who is not in the pockets of the Scotts, real estate developers, or other special interests ever runs against him. He will lose my vote. If the BOC do not grow up and start working together and do not quit making sweetheart deals that are lining their pockets they should not be surprised if a recall movement gets started around the first of June. We the voters have just about reached the ends of our ropes and patience with the drama going on with the elected officials in OUR county. They were elected to work FOR us not them selves.

Good to see ole Earl back. That Gunny (Clayton Tax Payer, Oh Please, Rev Billy Bob Whiskey, and others) has had this thread, GetSchooled, and others to himself, and, quite frankly, he’s boring. Keep it up, Earl! By the way, is that the same Gunny who sued the administrators in DeKalb County Schools and also took two of his administrators to court for assault and … or simple battery& I thought that he was essentially laughed out of the courtrooms. I was just wondering.

Well, I see folk are frettin’ over ole Earl again. Abe and Eli down here in the condo are getting a kick out of it. They’re encouraging me to get back to prophesizing. But, the Mrs. has had me on a short leash after she caught me down at the Las Olas Beach checking out the honies. She banned me for six months from using ANY com computer. I see ole Eldrin is chomping to bit to get back at Wade Starr. I know the Starr. Good folk. Been in Clayco longer than the Mrs. and I. We first bought our little abode near Rex Mill in 1968, the year after the Summer of Love. Now, 68 was a hot year! Ole Wade is too slick for Eldrin. You might think that he is involved in something, but he doesnt leave many fingerprints. He learned a lot growing up on Whiteline and has done quite well. You see, ole Wade had to learn to survive when Clayco was quite racist. He was born in a clinic in Forest Park. Eldrin is just an Atlanta Interloper. He was Maynard’s boy. Hey, you think ole JohnBoy Thompson wished now that he didn’t hook his little Red Supe Wagon to Eldrin. Eldrin’s look weak and petty now. I remember when Alex ran for State Rep as a Republican in 1986 against Ed Holcomb or Johnson or someone. Yep, Eldrin had it done to him Clayco Style. Hey, Eldrin, this ain’t Atlanta, but you keep going up there and partying and celebrating with your Hotlanta Friends. And, what about Michael Hightower…is he going to keep getting county contracts…I don`t think so. John B. Stephens might be a little anxious too. I think it was Eldrin’s concern for John D. that he started beating the drums to remove Norreese from the school board.
The Mrs. wants me to go to a Brazilian restaurant with her tonight. I think that she like flirting with the Brazilian waiters (garcons). Trying to get me back for checking out the bellas on the Lauderdale beach. I hate driving to Pompano.
I remember when Clayco could never beat LaGrange (with Vince Hutton, John Johnson), Newnam (with Drew Hill), Griffin (with Willie Gault and Freddie Gilbert). But, now…why not…with the likes of Harry Douglas and T. Choice. More on this later. The Mrs. is calling. Hey, that Alerka Andrews is doing OK on the school board. More on the betting pool down here tomorrow.

Elgrin Bell and Ericka Davis has been the Worst Black politicians that ever got voted into office in Clayton County. These two Greedy (Aunt&Uncle) Toms got in office to line their pockets with the Rich White Folk money from Kickbacks received for giving the countys rich white folk all the BOE and Countys contracts.
Then when the voters put people in office to threaten their authority/power, they run to the white people crying. Ericka Davis and Rod Johnson throw 50,000 Black kids under the bus with accreditation loss and Elgrin Bell throw theTaxpayers under the bus with HS land deals, the graveyard, the SPLOST, the accreditation also and this Current Embarrassment.
Now who will pay for this LAWSUIT against his colleagues. You got it! The Black Taxpayers since we out number the whites. RECALL this old 1/3 white boy Elgrin.

just another clue - ? Earl? JT you mention a Brazillian in your blog since all the rumours about after your wife and kids left you - that you started up a romance via internet with a lady from Brazil. You need to be a bit more imaginative.
