Can Clayton lure new businesses?
A few new businesses are trickling into Clayton County. At a time when much of the attention is focusing on problems in the school system, it’s refreshing to learn new jobs are being created. Read my latest blog entry on Wordpress

Save Southern Regional Hospital
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Since moving to Clayton we thankfully had little need to patronize any hospital. But when an elderly relative lived with us for a while this year, we saw firsthand how convenient and wonderful the hospital and several Southern Regional affiliated doctors we dealt with, are.
Our relative had health insurance, but the majority of their patients do not. Recently, our board of commissioners voted against bailing out the hospital, which has been a part of Clayton’s landscape since 1971. Although SRH has $48 million in reserves, they currently owe $40 million to creditors. It costs $20 million per month to run SRH. The hospital says it only needs use of the county’s bond rating, not cash, to help them get back on track. However, if they miss a payment guess who picks up that tab? And as we all know the county is currently trying to decipher its own financial problems.
From a business perspective this situation appears similar to the “Big 3” deal in that even if SRH gets what they need, there is no guarantee they will survive. Albeit surprising, Ed Bonn’s resignation was a good move if for no other reason than to reorganize and show that the hospital is serious about making any and all changes necessary to save itself.
But this also seems like a risk the county has to take so as not to lose one of Clayton’s largest employers, as well as all of the parallel businesses in that surrounding area. According to an AJC article, SRH received an extension to pay their debt and the BOC may vote on this again come January 6, 2009. Should Clayton’s taxpayers bail out Southern Regional? What is your experience(s) with the hospital?
Enjoy a blessed, safe and Merry Christmas, Clayton!

If Clayton County supported its hospital as Henry County does theirs, they wouldn’t be having this problem. Who should take care of the indigents in a county?

In 35 years I have been to the emergency room a handful of times for myself or my family. It is always filled with users and their snot nosed kids who do not have a life threatening illness, however think everything is owed to them, including free care. This takes more employees, money and time, all of which the hospital cannot or should not have to endure. The whole thing about loosing the hospital sickens me and all of you who think 2009 is going to be your year, you are in for a rough landing!

Save Southern Regional Now! Any Commissioner who votes against our hospital votes against us, the people of Clayton County. SR needs to be saved. Any Commissioner who votes against SR needs to be recalled!

The situation is sad. families are only using it to get free healthcare and drugs. They are abusing narcotics and this is what is wrong with the healthcare system. Good, clean christian white folks don’t need free socialized healthcare only those too lazy to work and pay their premiums. I’m so sick of us having to support those people. Look at all the young black kids now who don’t want to learn anything or are in the thug lifestyle. Where are they going to be in 15 years? I tell you where we will be, those students that are preparing for their future and who will pay their taxes will end up supporting Shameekia and L’Eandriana and Tyrone & Willey! Kids, prepare now to support those lazy africam americans who feel everything should be handed to them.

It will suck that our taxes will probably have to be raised to help save the hospital, but I don’t want to see the hospital go either. We’ve lost more than enough in Clayton, if we lose this hospital it’s only a short matter of time before the rest of the county shuts down and is a barren wasteland. And no, we aren’t there yet! We can still turn this around but only if we keep business here.

Any and everything that the southern white man tough goes down. That CEO at SR is like the rest of the white CEO’s nationwide. They’ve gotten these jobs “Only” because they’re white and “Inherited it”,,no skills or talent for the jobs at all.
And like the “Swine CEO’s nationwide, they act like the “Pigs” they are, they eat, drink, and suck the life and “Money out of everything, then ask for a “Bail Out”. They should be given “JAIL TIME! SR spent too much money taking care of the white trailer trash “METH HEADS”.
Every time you pick up the Newspaper you see where the white man has been “STEALING”, to include Bush and Cheney!!!

I truly hope the county commissioners do the right thing, and help save Southern Regional. I can remember when it was a hospital you didn’t want to go to. They changed their name and then changed the way they operated. I have seen the progress they have made and commend them for it.
If I have to pay more in taxes, then so be it. When an emergency comes up, I don’t want to be driven all around Atlanta.
Regarding the “white man” comments, grow up. You are in charge of your own destiny, no one else. You are the only one who has power to change yourself.

The Creation of a “Subclass” joblessness, poverty, drugs, racism, bigotry, discrimination, destitution, Institutionalization, corrupt criminal justice system, Indian reservations. Wars, the Vietnam War created a drug culture; heroin drug abuse, racism, the 1964 Voting rights Act; Poll Tax, Poll test, segregation.
To date over 200 innocent blacks have been exonerated by DNA. The intention removal/ discrimination of blacks from Baseball, less than 1% black head coaches in the NCAA, less than 1% black head coaches in the NFL, less than 1% black head coaches in the NBA, blacks can play the games the best, however can’t coach.
Most of the white coaches “Never” played the games they coach but now make millions. Less than 1% black CEO’s nationwide. Most whites “Inherited Wealth and Jobs” from their forefathers—whom wealth was earned on backs and blood, sweat and tears of the black man. In the 2000 Presidential Elections, whites in Jeb Bush government, $hit canned all the black and other vote in Dade and Broward Counties, FL; in the 2004 Presidential Elections the Republicans $hit canned the black vote in Toledo, Cleveland and Cincinnati, OH.
8 years of Republican Regime in Georgia and the Nation have driven the country in a “Ditch”. In South Carolina a white girl drove her children in the lake and blame it on black boys, in 2008 a white girl “Carved” the name Obama in her forehead “backward” and blamed black boys. OJ was prosecuted, convicted and sentenced to 33 years for a 1994 acquittal by a mostly black jury.
Even Michelle Obama’s white Georgia’s roommate in Princeton back in the day was to “Prejudice to remain her roommate for more than a day. The Book the Mis- education of the Black man. Unjustice justice system.
Then some will say I have a racial problem; I would say “Not” just “Racial Awareness” in this society we call “America”. Yeah, besides that and other than that.
I’m cool! Have a “Merry So-called Christmas and a Happy New Year.

The CEO of Southern Regional paid himself a “Huge Salary”, then proceed to “Bankrupt” the hospital; he ask for a “Bail Out” then resigned. Total mismanagement by the “County’s Rich Elite”, what business as usual for the swine.
The white BOE in Gwinnett is about to “Sidestep and Disregard” State and Federal Law with Sonny’s Blessing. While Clayton County BOE can’t even hire and appoint a “Superintendent” without all the whites here and at the State “Getting in an Uproar”. Now after that if you still don’t think you live in a “REDNECK BACKWARD STATE, you’re really hurting.
This REDNECK BACKWARD STATE can’t even keep up with majority of the Nation. The Nation picked a “Winner” Georgia REDNECK BACKWARD swine folk picked a “Loser”. The Nation picked “Obama”, Georgia’s swine picked a “Loser”.
The REDNECK BACKWARD STATE was satisfied paying $5.00 a gal. of gas. However, they say they are not “Prejudice”. The word is “Stamped on your forehead!!!
That why the county’s majority know you swine took the black children accreditation for political and money reasons. Enjoy your Holiday!!!!

You think:
“I can never be what I ought to be until you are what you ought to be.”
I think:
You will never be what you ought to be until you doing to things out oughta do.
The difference is, my philosophy does not have a build in excuse for failure.
You will get accredition back when you do the things you oughta do.

Isn’t this a blog about the issues with the hospital? Every time Kim asks for comments it ends up being all about race vs. race. This county is about to lose everything it has - ALL CHILDREN, NO MATTER WHAT THEIR COLOR, have lost their accreditation - now the county is on the verge of possibly losing a hospital and most of you are too sorry to give a rip!

Clayton County will be broke. The schools are not accredited, the hospital is closing, we lead in forclousures and unemployment, we have the most corrupt govenment in metro area and our county is divided along racial lines.
I’m outta here!
Clayton County is the Anus of the universe! If you think it got like this in the last four years your mistaken. Thank you commissioners for a job well done? Thank you school board, County deligation and all the moronic voters who elected this class of clowns! Thank you Democratic party for promoting the clowns! Thank you all the people behind the scenes making millions in this cesspool!

Well ,,,=^..^=,,,, heres a fact, prior to the demographic change there were no gang shootings, there were no ongoing controversies within the school system of the magnatude we now have, we didn’t have nearly the murder rate we now have, not even close. How do you explain that? Look sure we had problems everybody does. The key is sitting down and hashing them out not throwing the race bomb. You cry about inequity, and injustice yet you don’t offer up solutions, you only throw out the same old drivel of division, blame the white man, we are his victims. The county’s problems exist because too many people of color fell for the “it’s our time” mantra of the 2000 & 2004 elections and voted in inexperianced incompetant candidates rather than doing the research. It was toss out everything white and thats what we did. Now we are paying the price, and will continue to do so until we find qualified, competant people of all colors to fill the county’s needs, and I think this last election finally got us on the right foot.
On January 20 we are going to have a president of color, damn a black man through staying in school, applying himself, working hard, has achieved the most powerful position on the planet, POTUS. How did he do that with all the cards stacked against him?
Rather than wallowing in your own self pity or worse yet playing the race card for your own personal gain why don’t you work for change by having meaningful conversations, dialog that tears down the fears and prejudices that allow racism to continue? We are all in this together, I’m not a religious man but it’s not hard to see that if we would all swallow a bit of pride and humbly seek out compromise we would go much farther towards understanding and respect for one another than if we follow the path of blame and victimization.

Dear ,,,=^..^=,,,
You say that it was stolen - by whom was it stolen? The school board? What percentage of the school board that caused this mess is black and what percentage of it is white? If you’re calling in your race card on this, and apparently you are, with the majority of the school board being black, your own people stole it from the 95% black children. There’s your FACT! And rickman, I do agree with a lot of what you said, people in this county are so quick to blame everything on race - and I mean everything. You can’t have intelligent, meaningful, responses on these blogs because of that problem.
