Can Clayton lure new businesses?
A few new businesses are trickling into Clayton County. At a time when much of the attention is focusing on problems in the school system, it’s refreshing to learn new jobs are being created. Read my latest blog entry on Wordpress

How long have you waited to vote?
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
I have voted in every election since 1985. If I tallied up all of the time spent voting since then, it would be less than the five plus hours I recently spent in line. I tried to vote before work, but the lines were monstrous.
I ended up leaving work early, using the two hours provided by law along with some vacation time, to vote.
Is it worth the wait? Only time will tell. But it does feel good to be a “Georgia Voter”. Although Clayton County Board of Elections employees had to be overwhelmed, they didn’t show it and made the experience as painless as possible given the crowds. So, thanks to the board of elections for a job well done and a here’s a shout out to the poll workers at the Lovejoy Library!
Since moving here, I have heard Clayton’s woes blamed on everything from the 1996 Olympics’ “redistribution” of Atlanta residents into Clayton County, to those voted into office during the 2004 election.
Hopefully we will get it right this time, and our elected officials (old and new) along with the help of residents can begin to turn things around.
It will be interesting to see if things improve for the better given some of the changes made in Clayton government and to the entire Board of Education, or if the status quo will remain only with different faces.
Did you vote early? If so, how long did you wait on line? Or do you prefer to vote on Election Day? What kind of changes are you hoping to see happen in Clayton County via our elected officials?
General Election voting is on Tuesday, November 4 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

3 hours but now on to the important issues
How can Obama claim to follow christianity and still think abortion is Ok and even support partial birth abortion. Even more important how can anyone that claims to be a Christian stand behind this man.

I was in line for 2 1/2 hours and it was worth every minute of it. It is wonderful to know that I am a part of history.
I did not vote color, I voted for character. Taylor, you are entitled to your opinion about Obama and I respect that.
I am a Christian and voted for him, I am proud of my choice. Can you say that you honestly agree with every decision of your candidate of choice?
I made my decision based on who I thought would do the better job for my children, my family, and my country.

One an a half hours to vote - not too bad.
Actually - even though I did not vote for Obama - I am far more scared of the Pelosi, Reed and Barney Frank faction of te Democratic party having free reign over our country with the most liberal member of this past Senate as their supreme leader, Obama.

So if GOD is to judge you, Don’t you think you should read his Word, understand it and make your decisions accordingly?
Or are you OK to vote only for history and be condesinding to others and just take your chances on Judgement Day? Remember - Heaven and Hell are for Eternity.

I waited exactly an hour from the time I got on line to the time I walked out the back door of the courthouse, but that was the 2nd week of October.
I hope crime will go down and we can get off the news (although Clayton isn’t on the news as much as it used to be these days, thankfully). I hope criminals will be afraid to even drive through Clayton much less take up residence here. I also hope these politicians can put their personal crap aside and work for the betterment of Clayton and not for their own bank accounts.

I voted a week ago today and it took nearly four hours.
taylor - While I don’t necessarily disagree with you, the only thing that you can really do about it is pray more. The problem is that most people in this day and age are NOT Christian or they are hypocrites. So, Obama’s stance on abortion will not be an issue for them. Others, sadly, are deluded about what an Obama presidency will really mean for this country and the world. In the end, all that you can really do is pray.

Mr Taylor, aren’t you the same person who complains when the government has to take care of another unwanted child.
and therein lies the rub! I can only assume the person Taylor voted for is the same one that believes government should stay out of people’s lives. But the reality is there are too many people having children that they aren’t taking care of, financially, mentally or otherwise, and there are millions of unwanted children in the system already. Your candidate(s) wants to stop abortion but doesn’t support government intervention to care for them once they’re born. Can’t have it both ways.

This Tuesday is election day. For over a month I have been encouraging citizens to cast their votes early. I cast my vote September 26th and it only took 30 minutes.
The long lines at the polls this past week are an indication of the importance people have placed on this election. For many this election represents a clear demarcation point in the history of the United States. The struggles of the 50s and 60s have come to fruition and are evidenced in the 2008 Presidential election. As I perceived voters are turning out in record numbers to cast their votes and be a part of this years election. As important and historic as the Presidential race is I wish to remind everyone that all of the choices on the ballot are equally important. If you have not yet voted please take some time before Tuesday to consider your choice regarding the various races and constitutional amendments listed on the ballot. Our country now faces what may be some of the most serious challenges in its history. These challenges exist at the local, State, National and International level. The ladies and gentlemen we elect Tuesday will represent you! As your representatives they will be tasked with finding solutions to these challenges. We are asking ordinary men and women to exhibit extraordinary character and abilities. We must choose wisely.
Finally I ask all of you that do vote this Tuesday to be calm and patient. So far there have not been any major incidents and I don’t expect any on Tuesday. The lines will be long and some may be concerned that they will not get to vote. Just wait it out if you are in line when the polls close you will be allowed to vote.
There are tricks being played by groups and individules that want to keep you from voting. Don’t fall for them.
If there is a problem when you go to vote and it cannot be resolved, don’t just give up and leave, ask to cast a provisional ballot. If you see something that concerns you and you think it may be a violation of your rights or some one else’s make note of it recording the time, place, persons involved and details, report it to the proper authorities. SEE LIST BELOW There will be police at the polls remember they are there to keep order not officiate the election. Below is an extensive list of contacts if you experience or see problems that may be a violation of voters rights.
Please pass this information on.

Those of us who profess to be believers should know that God values life over riches. It doesn’t matter if a child would possibly have to grow up in lesser conditions than others. We have no right to kill that child in the womb, half-way out of the womb, or otherwise. Our Lord can bring glory to Himself through any life or condition that He chooses. He does not teach us to love the things of the world. On the contrary, He says “…do not love the things of the world” and to “…take up your cross DAILY and follow me”. If you think that us - as believers - will be able to stand before Him in judgment and explain away our supporting abortion and homosexual marriage by voting for those that approve of those abominations, than your pastors are not teaching you Truth. Examine your hearts as to your view of God. He must be a just judge. He cannot waver. For those of you who believe that you evolved from mud or apes - I guess anything goes. For us who profess to believe that we are “…fearfully and wonderfully made”, please meditate on His Word. His Word is Truth. There is no alternative.

I voted last Tuesday and it was only a 2 hour wait - that is, after I left 2 other polling locations because they were too crowded.
Citizens should always vote in every election like this. Sadly, I heard some Blacks say they will not vote again if Obama loses. SAD! Africa has many Black Presidents male and female. Blacks make up only 12% of Americans, so if Obama wins, it will be because white Americans voted for him.
If Obama wins, I hope Black men will arise and be deignified like Obama - a good role model. I hope they start acting like Obama - not seek jail, get an education, no drugs, married prior to having children, learn about other cultures, and be dignifed and strong in the face of adversity like Obama.
If Obama wins, there will be NO MORE EXCUSES….

PJ, I agree with you. A woman is free to choose what she does with her own body. She is free to plan and is free to do. But once an action has been taken, we are never free from its consequences. Those who choose to begin a journey that leads to parenthood have freedom of choice — to begin or not to begin that course.
The rights of any one individual do not allow the rights of another individual to be abused. It is no different than what slaves or Jews had to endure. A woman’s choice for her own body does not include the right to deprive her baby of life nor a lifetime of choices that her child would make. Why destroy a life that could bring great joy to others?

‘Tis the season for tricking voters By DEBORAH HASTINGS, AP National Writer Sun Nov 2, 8:53 pm ET
In the hours before Election Day, as inevitable as winter, comes an onslaught of dirty tricks — confusing e-mails, disturbing phone calls and insinuating fliers left on doorsteps during the night. The intent, almost always, is to keep folks from voting or to confuse them, usually through intimidation or misinformation. But in this presidential race, in which a black man leads most polls, some of the deceit has a decidedly racist bent. Complaints have surfaced in predominantly African-American neighborhoods of Philadelphia where fliers have circulated, warning voters they could be arrested at the polls if they had unpaid parking tickets or if they had criminal convictions. Over the weekend in Virginia, bogus fliers with an authentic-looking commonwealth seal said fears of high voter turnout had prompted election officials to hold two elections — one on Tuesday for Republicans and another on Wednesday for Democrats. In New Mexico, two Hispanic women filed a lawsuit last week claiming they were harassed by a private investigator working for a Republican lawyer who came to their homes and threatened to call immigration authorities, even though they are U.S. citizens. “He was questioning her status, saying that he needed to see her papers and documents to show that she was a U.S. citizen and was a legitimate voter,” said Guadalupe Bojorquez, speaking on behalf of her mother, Dora Escobedo, a 67-year-old Albuquerque resident who speaks only Spanish. “He totally, totally scared the heck out of her.” In Pennsylvania, e-mails appeared linking Democrat Barack Obama to the Holocaust. “Jewish Americans cannot afford to make the wrong decision on Tuesday, Nov. 4,” said the electronic message, paid for by an entity calling itself the Republican Federal Committee. “Many of our ancestors ignored the warning signs in the 1930s and 1940s and made a tragic mistake.” Laughlin McDonald, who leads the ACLU’s Voting Rights Project, said he has never seen “an election where there was more interest and more voter turnout, and more efforts to suppress registration and turnout. And that has a real impact on minorities.” The Obama campaign and civil rights advocacy groups have signed up millions of new voters for this presidential race. In Ohio alone, some 600,000 have submitted new voter registration cards. Across the country, many of these first-time voters are young and strong Obama supporters. Many are also black and Hispanic. Activist groups say it is this fresh crop of ballot-minded citizens that makes some Republicans very nervous. And they say they expect the dirty tricks to get dirtier in final hours before Tuesday. “Oh, there’s plenty of time for things to get ugly,” said Zachary Stalberg, president of The Committee of Seventy, a Philadelphia-based government watchdog group that is nonpartisan. Other reports of intimidation efforts in the hotly contested state of Pennsylvania include leaflets taped to picnic benches at Drexel University, warning students that police would be at the polls on Tuesday to arrest would-be voters with prior criminal offenses. In his Jewish neighborhood, Stalberg said, fliers were recently left claiming Obama was more sympathetic to Palestinians than to Israel, and showed a photograph of him speaking in Germany. “It shows up between the screen door and the front door in the middle of the night,” Stalberg said. “Why couldn’t someone knock on the door and hand that to me in the middle of the day? In a sense, it’s very smartly done. The message gets through. It’s done carefully enough that people might read it.” Such tactics are common, and are often impossible to trace. Robo-calls, in which automated, bogus phone messages are sent over and over, are very hard to trace to their source, say voting advocates. E-mails fall into the same category. In Nevada, for example, Latino voters said they had received calls from people describing themselves as Obama volunteers, urging them to cast their ballot over the phone. The calls were reported to Election Protection, a nonprofit advocacy group that runs a hot line for election troubles. The organization does not know who orchestrated them. “The Voting Rights Act makes it a crime to misled and intimidate voters,” said McDonald. “If you can find out who’s doing it, those people should be prosecuted. But sometimes it’s just difficult to know who’s doing what. Some of it’s just anonymous.” Trying to mislead voters is nothing new. “We see this every year,” said Jonah Goldman of the advocacy group Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law. “It all happens around this time when there’s too much other stuff going on in the campaigns, and it doesn’t get investigated.” In 2006, automated phone calls in the final days leading to the federal election wrongly warned voters they would not be allowed to vote without a photo ID. In Colorado and Virginia, people reported receiving calls that told them their registrations had expired and they would be arrested if they showed up to vote. The White House contest of 2004 was marked by similar deceptions. In Milwaukee, fliers went up advising people “if you’ve already voted in any election this year, you can’t vote in the presidential election.” In Pennsylvania, a letter bearing what appeared to be the McCandless Township seal falsely proclaimed that in order to cut long voting lines, Republicans would cast ballots on Nov. 2 and Democrats would vote on Nov. 3. E-mail assaults have become increasingly popular this year, keeping pace with the proliferation of blogging and Obama’s massive online campaign efforts, according to voting activists. “It is newer and more furious than it ever has been before,” Goldman said. And Republicans are not exempt. “Part of it is that election campaigns are more online than ever before,” said Goldman. “During the primaries, a lot of Web sites went up that seemed to be for (GOP candidate Rudy) Giuliani, but actually were attack sites.” New York City’s former mayor and his high-profile colleagues Fred Thompson and Mitt Romney were also targeted in fake Internet sites that featured “quotes” from the candidates espousing support for extreme positions they never endorsed.

Obama will elected, nothing much is going to change for uneducated, lower class blacks.
As a matter of fact, as the world goes into a recession, things will probably be worse for everyone, especially people who live on that bottom rung.
When this all becomes apparent and sinks in, they will blame it on the fact Obama is half white.

I live up in the mtns. Walked in, voted, walked out. My daughter went 3 weeks later. Walked in, voted, walked out. I heard there were 15-20 minute lines last week. So far 35% of the electorate has voted here.
Now, don’t try to get an absentee ballot sent in time to sendit back for it to be counted! They are NOT at all good at that! 3 bad experiences with trying to vote absentee with 3 weeks lead in time. Should have been adequate.
I have been a poll worker once in Athens. I hope I am never hungry enough to have to do that again. It was a thankless job with rude, rude people.

Nice Mandingo. Nothing in your post imparts any grace to the hearer. “…idiot…warmonger…think you’re God…” I didnt’ see where Taylor said that he was voting for McCain. You seem to assign motives to people. Absolutely not a Christian act. Those who send troops to war out of selfish motives will stand in judgment just as those who destroy children. If their motives were true and honoring in their heart, they will have to answer to the Lord for that also. And to say that we are not to judge each other. How can you uphold the purity of a brother or the purity of Christ’s church without confronting your brother in sin? We are to judge each other if we profess to be believers. Check out Matthew 18. We are to hold each other accountable. I would hope that if you saw me in sin and an affront to Christ’s bride you would come “judge” what I was doing to be sin and lock arms with me and assist me in repentance. What is your pastor teaching you? Is what you are being taught in worship true? Again, examine the Word, examine your heart.

Got in line at the Old Courthouse in Jonesboro for last day of early voting on Friday evening around six. there had to be at least 300 or 400 people ahead of me. got out of there at approximately 11:00. 8 polling stations just wasn’t enough and there should have been more poll workers checking to see who was registered. it was worth the wait though. Clayton proves that the color of your politicians skin won’t change much of anything.
ps. I think GW Bush is and idiot, and I thought it in 2000, he has spent the past 8 years proving me right. I think Obama has a chance, but the expectations are impossible to meet, and that is his own fault. He made promises that are impossible to meet.

Don’t assume that all african americans expect personal treatment and attention from Barak Obama when he is elected President. Those of us with sense know that we didn’t elect him alone and that he will serve ALL Americans, not just those who look like him (Unlike other candidates and past presidents who shall remain nameless) and know that the US has a lot of issues that need to be addressed immediately. Of course there will be those who feel slighted, just like with ANY other president elect.

I have a relative who works for the district and this individual told me she came in demanding pay for the last week of September because she wasn’t working for free and she was sworn in during the last week of September. Turns out, their paychecks run mid-month to mid-month so Miss Goree owes the school system for a week of work she didn’t do from Sept. 15 - Sept. 22! You’d think she would’ve known that since she is always talking about how she worked for the district!!!
Now we now why Goree is doing this - for the money and attention.

Uncle, Please tell me that you are not comparing the murder of defenseless babies and collateral damage in a war. If you do not remember, the UN, our Congress and our President all were in favor of the action against Saddam. Following the authority put in place by the Lord is not -as I have read - a sin against Him. Willful murder of His children is absolutely sin. I don’t know what you put your faith and hope in, but I pray that it isn’t man. Wars have happened throughout history (right or wrong). Surely you don’t think that the fight for ending slavery or WWII was unjust. The killing of babies/infants is murder. Hundreds of millions of babies butchered across the world by abortion. Hardly a comparison. Oh, by the way. How many of those 50,000-100,000 were killed by Coalition Forces and how many were killed by Islamic Extremists? That may be a number of interest in forming an opinion of America and the - on the whole - good that we try and accomplish in this world.

Oh, so if the UN, Congress and president, say it is OK to kill, it is.
Can you please show me where it says that in the Bible? I missed that one.
“The authority put in place by the Lord”. Are you saying the Lord authorized the war?
Where do I put my faith? not in men like you, thats for sure.
Finally, my point is, if you have blood of innocents on your hands, you cannot judge the blood on anothers. Sorry, you are no better.

Yea taylor, when challenged, run. I see you changed your tune, so now you admit that not all that die in war are “consenting adults” as you put it.
Somehow now ones view on abortion shows a propensity of waging war.
However, W proved that regardless of ones view on abortion, there is no “guarantee” as you put it, that they won’t start a war.

Uncle, God used Pharaoh for His purposes, He used Chedolaemer for His purposes, He used Nebuchanezzar for His purposes, all of the kings, rulers, powers and principalities, UN, Congress, the President. I am saddened by your lack of knowledge to His sovereignty. The earth is the Lord’s and all it contains - that means ALL of His creation - men too. Our soldiers never seek to kill innocents. They are ordered to complete missions. If they purposely kill innocents, we take measures against them. America has always been a force for good in this world. We have never invaded/conquered any country, we always leave. Also, I would never expect you to put your faith in me. I am a sinner in need of a Savior just like you and the rest of humanity because of the Fall. Christ gave me life, I pray the same for you and that you would have a more honoring, glorifying view of your King. Again, we as brothers are commanded to “judge” each other, hold each other accountable and protect the purity of the church. If you are a believer, I would hope that you would welcome - with humility - the judgment of another brother in the Lord. It’s what grows us towards Christlikeness. I’m not battling with you bro, you are really sharpening me.

By your logic, God created unwanted pregnancy and abortion doctors, so it to is part of his plan too. Again, who are you to judge what is and is not part of his plan?
However, logic blows your mind because it all leads to your own hypocracy, so you have to convolute your thinking to fade between logic, and hide behind your “faith” in order to justify your stance and hide your true motives.
Finally, I agreed about America, but that was before 2003.
Lets look at this quote: “We have never invaded/conquered any country, we always leave”
We did not just invade Iraq, it was sold on a false premise, but when it was exposed, Bush used the same fuzzy logic you use to justify it. So the real reason we invaded did not even exist. I guess this too was all part of Gods plan.
Finally, we are still in Iraq, so your reference that we always leave remains technically incorrect at this point and time.

Iraq is and always will be about gaining strategic leverage over Iran, the true threat in the middle East! Everyone everywhere in this country has allowed the most irresponsible media in history to mold and shape their views on every subject. America is going nowhere until Americans learn to think for themselves and extend their research of political candidates beyond the crap they hear and see on television and internet!

God did not create those sins. They are products of the Fall. He allows them to be used for His glory. I can’t explain all of it. It is called faith. “His thoughts are not our thoughts.” I don’t judge what is or isn’t in His plan - it’s all His plan, it is in His Word. All things work together for good. He uses them for His ultimate glory. Your explanation of what is good and God’s explanation are going to be two different things sometimes. Your pride seems pretty strong in your being able to assign me motives. My mind is never blown, I trust in the Lord with all of my heart and lean not on my own understanding. “It was sold on false premises” is a false statement. All of the world believed the evidence at the time - even Saddam himself. You seem to have been the one who has been sold a false pretense. You have the comfort of hindsight and seem very prideful in your “I told you so.” Remember the mood of the world after 9/11. Terrorism was our focus. Yes, all of this is God’s plan. Why do you doubt His wisdom? Can a paraplegic bring Him glory? Of course, by honoring Him through trials and by those around loving and taking care. The things of the Lord are foolishness to natural men. Seek Him bro. Hi is our comfort. We win in the end. That’s our hope, treasures that moth and rust cannot destroy, fellowship with Him in heaven - no fear, pain, grief, hatred, etc. Jews, Greeks, Gentiles, all tribes, nations. What an awesome hope. We are still in Iraq - that’s true, but it does not make my point incorrect. Where have we conquered and stayed to rule? Your other points are cogent but, come on man, you can do better than that one.

Govts. and their leaders are in place because God allows it - either through his grace or his disgust at the people of a country or region. Time after time - the Hebrews were rewarded or left to there own desires as they turned either toward the Lord or turned away from the Lord. Lessons not learned are doomed to repeat for no other reason but the sin nature of humankind.
I only hope God is not having a wordplay with our new Obama-nation - seeing as how we as a nation have fallen farther into the pit of self-indulgence and the “where is mine” attitude of the masses.
A distinguished author once asid that when the majority figures out that they can vote themselves money - a nation is doomed to fail. Sounds about what we have here in this election. Income redistribution - spread the wealth around.
The 50k to 100k deaths in Iraq pales in comparison to the the many millions that Saddam and his govt. brutally murdered. No comparison. Also no comparison to the million plus totally innocent lives lost to abortion each and every year in these United States. Nuff said.

Uncle Charlie,
War is always a result of sin and iniquity. It has always occured that way and will continue to be so. A life lost during war or conflict is never a good thing. Leaders who have been given the sacred responsibility of governing their countries and citizens will be held accountable for their decisions and actions. Taking the life of an innocent living but unborn child is equally as iniquitous. The doctrine of preemptiveness is the key element that exists in both situations. For Bush, it was striking and killing before they do. The rationale is to save human lives as a result of potential terroristic attacks. For a mother, the rationale is aborting her child before her life changes and becomes inconvenient. There’s a stark difference here and both will be judged accordingly.
We all have the free agency to make choices in life. That does not mean those choices come without consequences.

How about the “swine” that are committed improving living conditions in Africa today?
How about the “Greedy Swine (Bill Gates, Warren Buffett) that have committed their fortunes to fight disease and hunger in poverty ridden countries?
How about the “swine” with less resources who take their vacations with their churches and go on mission trips build hospitals and other infrastructure improvements in poor African countries.
or about when a natural diseaster such as a earthquake, Tsunami, or Hurrican hits? Who is always the first in line to help? That’s right, the “swine”.
Bottom line, you can choose to see things as you wish, there are realities both good and bad.
Finally, how about the man from African blood that is about the be elected president to day. He could not do that without support of “the swine”, or the system he created.

Mandingo,
Chill…Max Ehrmann wrote this in the 1920’s.
Go placidly amid the noise and the haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible, without surrender, be on good terms with all persons. Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even to the dull and the ignorant; they too have their story. Avoid loud and aggressive persons; they are vexatious to the spirit.
If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain or bitter, for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself. Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans. Keep interested in your own career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.
Exercise caution in your business affairs, for the world is full of trickery. But let this not blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals, and everywhere life is full of heroism. Be yourself. Especially do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love, for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment, it is as perennial as the grass.
Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth. Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.
Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.
Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be. And whatever your labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life, keep peace in your soul.
With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be cheerful. Strive to be happy.

Unless of course you happen to be black and think electing a half white who was raised by white grandparents, went to white schools, and elected by 62% of white voters somehow makes you feel like he’s one of you and that “we” did something. Why should the Feds look at Clayton County? They will only find the stupid people who thought it was ok to vote yes to have school funds used for redevelopment. Let’s talk about the school funds, are these the same school funds that they claimed to not have in Sept when the school lost it’s accredidation? See the parents were told that there was no money to pay to transport the children to other accredited schools. So my question is where did all of this magical money appear from?? No one has even thought to ask this question. Shouldnt the extra money be used to increase the teacher’s salaries, build new schools, but no we allow them to put trailers outside of schools, deny teachers pay raises, cut para professional jobs, cut library budgets, etc. All so that crooks can use the money to redevelop the community and make a biggggg profit for themselves. What ever happened to using your own money for redevelopment, and if they use the taxpayers money shouldn’t the proceeds go to the taxpayers or a least go back to the schools were they stole it from any way? Just my thoughts.

In 4 years, Obama says he can create equal healthcare for everyone, stop the forclosures, fix the banking system, turn our economy around, end our wars, change our foreign relations, and for good measure, eliminate our dependence on oil.
But, according to Dr. Thompson, it will take 2 year for Clayton to have a functional board.
Hmm, I think Obama has a better chance.
On a side note, the Dow is down 1000 points within 48 hours of the Obama Presidency, apparently, business owners are not as optimistic as you are.
Finally, Clayton lead Ga. in Obama votes, not a very good omen considering Claytons record in picking leaders.

W-Jonesboro,
I totally agree with you. Do we really know how our tax dollars are being spent or even questioning it? no we do not. We just pay, pay, pay and never ask why?
We need to question the person who is responsible for managing this county’s money!!!!!!

By ??????????- I’ve asked the question and started on our county level and took it all the way to David Scott. Have no answer, except that the county is doing all it can do and have no extra funds to transport the children of Clayton County to accredited schools, which is what they are required to do by Federal Law. However, I spoke with an attorney and was told that they have the money they want to hold as many children in this school system because they are not allowed to receive funding from the Federal or State level if they children go to other county schools! They have a quota to meet and although I do not have children in CC schools I am very concerned at the lack of leadership that is shown in the county. I tried to discuss it with people who have children in the schools and they told me that i was making a big deal out of nothing. They said it would be over with in a year and the school would be accredited again. I asked these idiots what happens to the whole year that these children waste in an unaccredited school system and they couldn’t give me an answer. They have no idea that that year doesn’t count! Coming from viriginia I am shocked at the disinterest the parents show in their children and the taxpayers show in how their dollars are spent. Virigina is number 11 in education in the US and they dont even have an outrageous school tax added to their property tax bill. It seems as though the Clayton County has too much money to play with and the residents are too complacent and content to continue giving the money. They will fall for anything that someone tells them just at the hope of seeming intelligent.

Well, I haven’t been able to get on the computer until now…see you didn’t like my comment Mandingo…my daughter is well over the age of 16 and free to date whomever she chooses, unless it’s your sorry a*. I happen to like Obama, but no I didn’t vote for him. I pray that he can lead this country into a much better place than we are now and I pray that he will bring my Marine Son home from Iraq! So Mr. Mandingo - you can go to hell. And while you were throwing those bricks, you must have had one hit you upside the head.

I recall how the Rerpublicans laughed and booed obama because he was a community organizer at their convention. Funny how he “organized” the nation to elect him president of the united States. The GOP is in serious trouble! 2010 will be the year the Democrats take back Georgia as well.

Clayton County white folks are backward like the rest of the back-wood thing white folk in Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Arkansas and Louisiana.
The rest of the Nation and the World wanted President Obama to WIN!!! The only difference Obama and his coalition and Clayton County Black elected officials is that Obama’s and his folks didn’t let “Pink Heads” like Sean Hannity and the other white talking heads derail him.
Clayton’s Black officials allowed “Uncle Toms” paid by the swine to sale them out and ran Mass Media Smear campaigns. However, the tricks are catching up with the swine—the FEDS took Chick-fil-A hands out of the School System’s pockets and stopped a lot of the Chamber of Commerce shenanigans.
LISTEN TO THIS SWINE: Obama REALLY win the race in Georgia—Sonny and with Sec. of State throw alot of Obama’s vote in the $hit can. Lousy pink head swine.

White folk jump on this forum and say Obama won’t do any thing for blacks. He don’t need to, he only need to try to establish a level playing field in America. Don’t listen to the swine, Obama is President number 44.
The 43 previous white presidents don’t do a hell of a lot for all these back-wood white trailer trash and mountain country coal mining white folk and all the white ones that’s losing their homes.
Even, Sonny and his white construction biddies are ready to steal the Black School System’s Money.

A fuss should be made for our children. Unless we all are on the same accord, our children will suffer. I know they have hidden money that they will pocket as usual. I now see Clayton in a different light. We don;’t fight for anything, we just settle for what we are told. We will never get out of this mess unless we fight to get the crooks out of this government. We can do it but, the people here is the problem!!! I too am from up north and think that this county is a disgrace with race issues and all.

I give up on Clayton County, if I didn’t own property here I would’ve been gone already. I’m just praying that we come into some money so we can get the hell outta Clayton AND Georgia. Our new elected officials (along with those reelected) aren’t much better than the past group.
My only hope/saving grace at this point is that those rumors about Clayton going bankrupt are true, and the county is split up and auctioned off to other counties with elected officials who may be dirty but at least make sure their constituents and basic county business are taken care of instead of lining their own pockets.

Clayton County is not going broke! However, the county needs to spend it’s resources better. Last year we had over 100 million dollars in wasteful spending. And, The fact of the matter is, Taxes in this county will have to be raised. We can’t cut spending when we are already to a bare bone budget. We must raise revenues. I will be voting to raise taxes at the first of the year so that we can meet basic services.
P.S. Jesse Goree Can’t you see what you are doing? The entire community is starting to rally against you and your diatribes. Cool down, shut up and work WITH the other board members instead of playing your tired game of one oneupmanship. It’s old and tired and frankly, you are coming off looking as an idiot,

I agree Shadow. Goree should calm it down. She is looking as bad as the old regiem. Goree, you are looking bad and that is not good seeing you been on the board less than six months! PLEASE do us all a favor and just shut up and work with the board members. I applaud Ms. Anderson and her leadership on the board. She is doing a good job keeping the idiots King and Goree in check.

I am so fed up with this county, state, and country!! I used to be proud of where I am from. Very few in politics have the character and drive needed to make real change. I just hope that you all are as satisfied with your president in four years as you are today.

Clayton’s County Black Officials like Elgin Bell, Ericka Davis, Rod Johnson, Mike Glanton and Eddie White are Negroes suffering with Post Traumatic Slave Syndrome (PTSS). These Negroes sold over 50,000 Black children accreditation to the white man for a Dollar.
I hope these Negroes have learned something by President Obama’s heart and will, every black don’t have to knell to the white man. This is 2008 the Negro is FREE.. Now everybody is looking at Clayton County and that old prejudice Georgia.
People around the world are looking at how these people stripped this many black children of their dream, with the help of a bunch of “Spineless Negroes”. The world can tell how Georgia is run by their vote for the Presidency.
Sonny’s Sec. of State threw away over 500,000 black vote in the State.
