Can Clayton lure new businesses?
A few new businesses are trickling into Clayton County. At a time when much of the attention is focusing on problems in the school system, it’s refreshing to learn new jobs are being created. Read my latest blog entry on Wordpress

A new day in Clayton?
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
“It’s like Christmas in August,” says 14-year resident Lee Duncan. “These elections gave me new hope for this county that we can get back to what we used to be and how we used to be. Maybe I won’t have to move after all and won’t be embarrassed to tell people where I live anymore.”
That is the sentiment of many residents I’ve spoken with since Clayton County voters dismissed Victor Hill, Jewel Scott and potentially Lee Scott’s brand of leadership. It was also great to see voters reject the racial rhetoric/scare tactics spewed throughout campaign literature of some of the losers and even on this blog.
However, just because we have new people in office does not mean we can lose interest. We still have to hold our elected officials (past, present and future) accountable for their actions or lack thereof, or we’ll be right back in this position again.
We have more research to do as well, as there are still important elections to be decided for our county in November.
Most importantly, school board members up for election are: Wanda Smith v. Della Ashley (District 2); Ophelia Burroughs v. Diana Nicholson (District 5); and Mary Baker v. Marcela Bodkin (District 6) in a September 16 special election to finish out the remainder of Eddie White’s term (through December 31).
Kem Kimbrough and Jack Rainwater will compete for your vote for Sheriff.
Jim Martin v. incumbent Senator Saxby Chambliss.
Deborah Honeycutt v. incumbent Congressman David Scott.
Are you happy with the election’s outcome so far? Has this regime change given you hope for the future Clayton County? What changes do you want to see in Clayton, by whom and where? Got any suggestions for our new leaders?

I did not realize how stressed I was about the state of our county until after the runoff election last week. I feel lighter and brighter, and I have hope that our quality of life will begin to improve.
I saw Rainwater for the first time on TV this morning. UGH! Someone said he was native american. He looks (and sounds)like a white, redneck, good ole boy to me. He’s already criticizing Kem Kimbrough for accepting extra security. He says he wasn’t offered extra security, and would refuse if it was offered. Someone’s lying there since news reports were that he was offered security.
Strap up fellow bloggers. I think we’re in for a bitter battle for sheriff.

Rainwater may be white, but I don’t think you can call him a good ole boy or redneck. His wife is African-American. I will be supporting Kem in November because I just think he is the better man for what we need to keep going forward, but I have nothing against Rainwater. He is a good man.

The ousting of Scott and “Walking Small” has inspired me to not sell my home in Clayton County. I realize that although only 20-30% of our citizens care vote even in such a critical election, I think that we can still become a respectable area again. It’s obvious that Clayton County citizenship is made up of primarily followers and not concerned citizens, so with honest, respectable and intelligent leadership we’ll not be the embarrassment of the entire State of Georgia anymore
I once read that there are three types of people in the world: Those that make things happen - Those that watch things happen - And those that wonder what the hell happened. We’ve got the two latter ones, so all we need are leaders and that can make things happen and CC is on it’s way again. :)

I was very happy about the election. Clayton County was taking off life support but no way are we in the clear. I also saw Rainwater on channel 2 last night, which was my first time hearing him speak. I thought why go negative your first time in front of the camera. Being very negative and starting friction with the Police Department won’t get it done. CC seen enough of that.

raja, I agree with you on the “negative” part. However, IMO Kembrough is the better man for the job and I doubt a Repbulican has much of a chance in what is probably the most democratic County in all of Ga., anyhow.

Well, well, well, I see we are already starting with the name calling for the November elections.
I voted for Kimbrough in the runoff in order to make sure Hill was out. Now we have another choice coming up in November. It is my firm belief that whether Rainwater is Native American, White, Black, or Purple with Pink polka dots is completely irrelevant to his qualifications to be Sheriff. Nor, do I feel that whether or not he is a redneck (someone who has worked long days outside in the sun) is necessarily a disqualification, in fact, that might be exactly the work ethic we need to straighten out the Sheriff’s office. If one defines a good ole boy, as “someone who is one of the common folks who works hard, plays hard, and is true to God, Mother, and Country”, then maybe those are qualifications we should be seeking out as well.
Beyond, what I’ve read on this blog, and in a few newspaper articles I know little about Rainwater’s qualifications. I would like to know much more about him, his attitudes about running the Sheriff’s office, and his thoughts about what the future of this county may hold, and how we get there. I would like to know the same about Kimbrough as well.
It seems that the primary and runoff politics were mostly about Victor Hill and all that he did wrong, i.e. the past. Now I want to hear about the future and the visions of each candidate.
Can we elevate the level of the discussions on this blog so as to eliminate personal attacks? Name calling doesn’t do much to help educate the voters.

I did not take Rainwater as being negative. I saw as him as questioning why does Kembrough need police protection? Kembrough is not the Sheriff elect. He has only won the primary democratic race. He still faces another campaign. If I or you can’t get special police protection, why should he? Are our lives any less important to his? I also saw Jack with his African American wife on TV. I don’t know too many good old boys married to black women. I see some eerily similarities between victor hill and Kembrough. You rarely saw Victor without his bodyguards and now Kembrough has them and is not even elected to ANYTHING! I see the same youthful arrogance that I saw in Victor Hill when he was elected. Jack was pointing out the obvious, Why should our tax dollars be spent on an young, unexperienced Sheriff candidate?
By WTF?
August 11, 2008 9:26 AM | Link to this
I don’t believe Rainwater was trying to start friction - he is NOT Victor Hill in any way, shape form or fashion. I believe he just wanted the record set straight that he was not offered police protection. But will he be a media w******* like Hill was? Absolutely not.
All I ask is that folks do not dismiss Rainwater based on the color of his skin or the perception that he is a redneck because he is not. If you talk to him for 5 minutes, you’ll see that he is not. And yes his wife is black so that pretty much eliminates that theory anyway. I doubt any black person would knowingly marry a racist & stay married for years.
I’m taking a wait and see approach because I like both Kem and Jack, either one will be a great choice. I believe this sheriff’s race is a “win-win” for residents, either way we get a better sheriff than Hill could ever hope to be.
Am I happy with the election outcomes? HELL YES!! I did not elect Victor Hill nor Jewel Scott in 2004 and was happy to see them sent packing in 2008. I was ecstatic that the race card didn’t win this eleciton as it had in 2004. I’m a black person myself before you assume I’m being racist with my response here.
Believe it or not I think we were blessed that the apathetic didn’t show up to vote last Tuesday. If they had, this could be an entirely different blog this week and I’d be trying to devise a plan to get my family outta here.

First let me say that Rainwater was offered protection but turned it down. Who needs security anyone the defeated Lee or Victor. Do you remember DeKalb county Sheriff being killed by Dorsey’s people after he lost the election. Let say that Dorsey was nuts but Victor and Lee worse and they have thugs with guns that don’t want to loose their county paying jobs. I would have security on me to if I won. Clayton County soon to be over the Hill and Lee and Jewel Scott free.

I agree with WTF’s statement above it’s a “win-win”. However, I do feel that Kembrough’s law enforcement experience along with his law degree makes him the most capable candidate for the Sheriff’s position. Right now I could care less about a candidate being a Rep., or Demo.
I’m looking forward to the day of not feeling a little intimidated when I see one of those Sheriff’s dept. Chargers with dark-dark tinted glass driving along. If I get behind one, or in front of one of those cars I get off the road at the first opportunity because I know that there’s likely a crazy thug with a gun and a badge behind the wheel.

Dist 5- Rainwater himself stated that he was offered police protection if he requested it, and he stated that he would not do so. That in his opinion it was a waste of tax-payers dollars. I know Victor Hill- I see a lot of him in Kem… I hate the idea that he’s already utilizing the resources of our county for his own good. Serving this county is about SELFLESS sacrifice, and for him to be wearing and being covered is ridiculous. It’s nothing like Dorsey/ Brown- I’m a card carrying Democrat involved in our county party and I’m not at all pleased with this issue.
Clayton County needs change- and seriously soon… I just don’t know how it’ll happen. Perhaps a lot of civic involvement and lots of prayer.

I work in the SO with Kem. I have worked there for over 14 years. I started my career under Tuggle. When It came down to Victor Hill and Kembrough, The choice was clear. I voted for Kembrough. The public has no idea how much good Deputies are working under so much stress and duress. I will tell you first hand that Kem Kembrough is showing many of the qualities that Victor Hill displayed during his election. Unfortunately, We had to wait until his first day in office to confirm the guy was a nut case. Don’t make the same mistake twice. I have voted Democrat my entire life but I will vote for Rainwater because he is the better candidate for the position. Kem needs more grooming before he is ready to lead the largest department in Clayton County. Now is not the time to “train” someone on the job for Clayton County Sheriff. I urge you all to throw party affiliation out the window and vote qualifications and the ability to not only run the Sheriffs Dept but to repair the damage that Victor Hill has caused as well. And as far as Rainwater being a redneck, I think most people think rednecks are racist hillbilly’s, But if you saw Jack on TV last night sitting next to that beautiful and graceful African American woman, she is his wife.

I also had seen the Rainwater interview and saw it as a legitimate question. How can a CANDIDATE have special treatment? So let’s get this straight. Based upon that one request and approval, all future candidates can request to have police protection if they feel at all uneasy about their opponent? Boy oh boy could that be so easily taken advantage of by the political manipulators like the Trotters and Scotts. It would be so easy to paint your opponent as being unstable, and or crazy. All you have to do is just say that you are feeling uneasy about your opponent and you will get your own personal security detail provided courteously of the CCPD.
And another thought. What if the next candidate does not get a security detail by the police dept., does that set the CCPD up for a law suite based upon equal protection?
I think Rainwater made a great point. Looks to me like Kimbrough has the same mentality and character as Hill. Looks like another publicity stunt at the expense of tax payer’s dollars.

I did hear that he was offered the same protection as Mr. Kimbrough then, I heard the news media change that to say he hasn’t asked for protection yet.
Yes, Rainwater does have a southern accent but, in my heart I do not believe that he is a good ole boy.

I found this on the Givem The Boot Forum so I had to crosspost it here:
Here are the reasons why I believe he (Rainwater) has no chance in Nov. Election:
1: This is a Democratic County.
2: In Nov. is the Presidental Election so many people in Clayton could be voting for Obama on the Democratic Ticket and can not vote for Rainwater.
3: Most Voters here in Clayton County does not vote color blind like most of us on this forum does it is just true hard facts, but it is ashame too.

WSB reported that Jack Rainwater is complaining about Kimbrough’s protection. WHY? He also said none was offered to him, BIG LIE. Not that I was going to vote for Tearwater, but show some class brother, don’t lie. Since you want to lie Mr. Rainwater, how about telling the voters of Clayton County about your past friendship with Victor??? Oh yeah buddy, you lie, the gloves come off. What is wrong with Kimbrough getting protection?? Heck, presidential candidates are given Secret Service protection. I know that these are no presidential candidates, but look at who your dealing with, VICTOR HILL, aka Dorsey. Unless of course you have no reason to fear Hill, but oh yeah , you two are pals right? I’m gonna expose you for who you really are now sonny. Just wait and see what comes out of me now, I was silent before, but no more. Why are you trying to get the protection taken away, did Victor put you up to this?? For those that support Rainwater, look deeper than what he portrays. Im telling you, he’s a Victor pawn.
Rainwater for the record YOU are WHITE. I know a source that you told you weren’t white. You look white on tv to me. “PUNK”. I wanted to expose Rainwater but wanted to also know who was paying attention. I am glad Hill is gone first of all but with rainwater well…we can see kem is again more qualified between the two. Anyway, RAINWATER STATED HE WAS NOT GOING TO RUN TO SEVERAL OFFICALS AND CITIZENS IF KEM WON. HE WAS TO BE A SAFETY MEASURE IF KEM OR WATKINS DIDN’T GET IN AND THAT HE SUPPORTED KEM 100%. THIS IS WHY TEAM KEMBROUGH ASSUMED THEIR CAMP HAD WON. FOR THE RECORD PD DID OFFER HIM PROTECTION ALSO BUT ONLY ASSUME KEM NEEDED IT BECAUSE RAINWATER SAID HE WASN’T RUNNING. ALSO, IN KEM’S DEFENSE HILL HAS SEVERAL EMPLOYEES/CROOKS WITH CRIMINAL RECORDS THAT ARE ABOUT TO LOSE THEIR JOBS. NO BACK GROUND CHECKS WERE DONE ON THESE CROOKS. SO THEY ARE PRONED TO DO ANYTHING. NOW THAT HE IS MEETING WITH THE SCOTT’S AND VICTOR BEHIND THE SCENE RAINWATER WANTS TO RUN. IT APPEARS TO ME EVERYONE KNEW KEM HAD THE ONLY CHANCE OF BEATING VICTOR AND WAS USED TO GET VICTOR OUT THE WAY NOW THAT HE IS GONE IT’S FLIP FLOP TIME.
*RAINWATER STOP LYING, YOU ARE A SECURITY GUARD YOU DON’T OWN A SECURITY COMPANY. I SEEN YOU AT THE GROCERY STORE WITH YOUR FAKE BADGE. DIDN’T YOU RUN FOR SHERIFF BEFORE…. WE SURE DON’T WANT APD ATTITUDES IN CLAYCO, YOUR INTERNAL AFFAIRS FILES FROM APD WILL BE POSTED SOON GOOD LUCK AND EXPOSE YOU AS A LIAR!!! YOUR 2OO VOTES ALWAYS COME FROM YOUR FAMILY MEMBER. I’m sure Rainwater will explain this himself at some point, but he ran as a republican to get on the ticket and give voters another option for sheriff. There were already 5 people running on the democratic ticket.
I am a registered democrat and have never ever considered voting for a republican. I am considering this now. AS someone said earlier, we need to stop classifying candidates based on race and political party and pick the best person for the job.
Will it matter that Kembrough’s a democrat if he’s as bad as Victor was? And I’m not saying that he is but I’m just saying we need to think thoroughly. We’ve got about 2.5 months to get this right folks and we need to get this right to keep our county moving forward. Let’s not go backwards.
Also for the record, in November (i.e. general election) you can vote for ANYONE YOU WANT - be it republican, democrat, indepenent, whatever.
You just have to go in that booth with some KNOWLEDGE about the candidates and not just vote down the party line, be it the republican line or the democratic line.
Get educated on these candidates, it’s our only hope.

There was no disagreement with the police dept. in that interview. There was disagreement with whomever made the decision to ptovide protection to a single citizen that they can not provide to the rest of the citizens of Clayton County. By this I mean by have police officers sit in their driveway. And yes, I am voting for Rainwater, he is my choice. This protection can not only be provided for 1 person. Hey Everyone- Here’s an interesting meeting that is being held tomorrow.
I don’t have everyone’s e-mail address who helped with the recent run-off campaigns, but wanted you guys to know that tomorrow morning at 8:30 a.m. there will be a hearing concerning 5 of the Clayton County school board members. This is the result of Senator Terrell Starr, Atty’s Albert Wallace, Robert Oliver, George Glaze, George Brown and retired teacher Dyane Simmons bringing a complaint before the Governor and then the Governor forwarding the complaint on to the Office of State Administrative Hearings. If Judge Michael Malihi finds these 5 members to be guilty of malfeasance, the Governor then has the option of removing them from office.
Keep your fingers crossed and say your prayers!

BOE faces critical, back-to-back probes this week
By Curt Yeomans
Five members of the Clayton County Board of Education will be fighting for their political lives, and the school system’s accreditation this week.
Board members Michelle Strong, Sandra Scott, Lois Baines-Hunter, Yolanda Everett and Rod Johnson face possible removal from their posts.
The five board members are the subject of an administrative hearing before Judge Michael Malihi on Tuesday, at 8:30 a.m., at the Office of State Administrative Hearings (OSAH), 230 Peachtree St., Suite 850, in Atlanta. It will continue on Wednesday. If Judge Malihi finds the members are guilty of malfeasance, Gov. Sonny Perdue has the option of removing them from office.
Regardless of that decision, on Thursday and Friday, those board members, along with new board members, Alieka Anderson and Trinia Garrett, will face questions from a review team of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS).
SACS officials are sending a nine-member team to the district to see if the system has met its mandates for improvement, or if Clayton County Schools will lose its accreditation on Sept. 1.
“Next week is a very big week for CCPS,” said Julie Lewis, the school system’s legal counsel. “Our Board and CCPS Staff have been working very hard to prepare for both events.”
The administrative hearing stems from a complaint filed with the governor’s office on June 23, by Dyane Simmons, a retired educator, and Jonesboro attorneys, Albert Wallace, Robert Oliver, George Glaze and George Brown. On July 3, the governor sent the complaint to OSAH, requesting a hearing.
Rodney Moore, who works for the law firm of Greenberg Traurig, LLP, was added on July 14 as an attorney to help represent school board members during the administrative hearing. Moore also led an investigation of a controversial land deal for the board in 2007.
Jennifer Jones, a staff attorney who will work with Malihi on the case, said school board attorneys, who also will represent the five board members, filed a motion to dismiss the case on Aug. 7. Malihi had not ruled on the motion before the weekend, Jones said. The school board attorneys based their motion on the argument that OSAH lacks “subject matter jurisdiction.”
“The fact that the Clayton County School Board is not subject to O.C.G.A. 45-10-1, et seq. is buttressed by the existence of a separate statutory process for the removal of [the] board,” Moore said in the motion. “Specifically, the removal of school board members may only be accomplished by recall.”
Judge Malihi could make a decision in the case as soon as a couple of days after the hearing ends, said Jennifer Martin, Malihi’s calendar clerk.
Wallace, the spokesman for the group trying to get the board members removed from office, said Friday he was confident in his group’s chances of successfully proving their case. Since attorneys make up four-fifths of the group, they will represent themselves at the hearing.
“Have you ever shot fish in a barrel?” asked Wallace. “We’ve got all the evidence we could possibly need, and then some. The only thing we have to worry about is over-trying the case.”
Legal counsel, Lewis, and special attorney, Richard Schwartz, sent the district’s 2,300-page response to SACS’ concerns to the organization on July 31.
The accreditation response contained evidence, such as board minutes, audits, residency affidavits, press releases, meeting agendas, and proof of board training sessions. It also contained letters of support from several community members.
Later in the week, on Thursday, a review team will look at the district’s response, and conduct interviews with board members, school board candidates, board members-elect, district officials, school administrators, staff members and community members.
The team will consult with SACS officials, and a decision will be made about the district’s accreditation. The school system could lose its accreditation; be put on probation, or it could retain its full accreditation.
District officials are aiming for the third option, and have said they are confident in their chances for success.

13 Agencies rush to cut budgets at last minute
As state revenues worsen, schools and others asked to pick up slack
By Brandon Larrabee
ATLANTA - The state’s darkening financial situation has state agencies scrambling to come up with deep cuts to their budgets less than a month before they are supposed to send their spending plans to Gov. Sonny Perdue.
Perdue recently issued a last-minute change in instructions for the budget blueprints after a slump in state revenues that could open up a $1.6 billion or larger hole in the spending plan lawmakers passed back in April. The governor ordered a cut of 6 percent for most state agencies and plans to deal with reductions of up to 10 percent. Medicaid will face a 5 percent reduction and state aid to local school districts will be sliced by 2 percent.
Those cuts are much larger than the 3.5 and 4 percent cuts agencies were originally told to expect in this spending year, which began July 1, and the next fiscal year, respectively. And plans for dealing with the reductions have to be finished by Sept. 2.
Advocates worry that the answers to the budget riddle will come in the form of fewer needed social services and in state job cuts. And it will likely influence tuition rates being discussed for students who will enter college in fall 2009.
About the only thing state lawmakers have tried to take off the table is any discussion of a tax increase - even though some say that raising state revenues might be the wisest course.
Deeper cuts alter plans
When Chancellor Erroll Davis asked colleges and universities across the state to send him plans for a 5 percent budget cut, even before Perdue’s announcement, it was seen as a way to provide flexibility for officials with the University System of Georgia. Executives could accept the cuts they liked and try to avoid the worst measures.
Last week, Davis and other officials huddled several times to figure out how to cut even more than the 5 percent. Diane Payne, a spokeswoman for the university system, said the agency hoped to avoid asking schools to cut even more, at least under the 6 percent scenario.
At least one school, Georgia Tech, was already floating the idea of steeper tuition increases to try to balance out shrinking state funds under the 5 percent cut, even as it acknowledged the idea’s shortcomings.
“Since tuition appears to be a likely place to generate revenue, the cost of attendance may become out of reach for both nonresidents and residents of Georgia, which directly impacts the affordability goal outlined by the [University System of Georgia],” the institute said in a plan submitted to state officials.
The Department of Community Health, the state agency that oversees Medicaid, will now wait until Aug. 28 to consider its budget instead of trying to approve the spending plan at its scheduled Aug. 14 meeting, spokeswoman Matia Edwards said in an e-mail.
The late word of the cut is particularly devastating for local schools, said Joe Martin, head of the Consortium for Adequate School Funding in Georgia, an organization of 50 school systems suing the state to force lawmakers to spend more on education.
“The obvious reality is that school’s already begun and budgets have been set and people have been hired and salaries have been committed, so where does a school system turn?” Martin asked. “And I don’t know that anybody has an answer.”
‘Other places to get money’
The cuts have prompted some observers to call for state lawmakers to return to Atlanta for a special legislative session and, at the very least, repeal tax breaks they approved earlier this year for everything from wood residuals used to manufacture ethanol to tax incentives for high-deductible health insurance plans.
That could spare the kind of Medicaid reductions that could lead to new eligibility restrictions and fewer services being provided to patients, said Linda Lowe, a consumer health advocate.
“It’s outrageous that anybody’s thinking about doing any cut at all,” she said. “There are other places to get the money. We ought to be going back and having a special session and rescinding those special-interest tax cuts that were done this past year with no thought of where it was going to come from.”
Besides, cuts to government spending takes money out of the economy, said Alan Essig, head of the Georgia Budget and Policy Institute, a think tank that pushes for more spending on social programs.
Lawmakers, though, have all but ruled out an increase in taxes. In fact, legislative leaders have met to try to spare a state property-tax credit from the budget knife.
“I think that a tax increase should be the very, very last thing that’s ever considered, and I think that’s why we’re looking at doing what we’re doing right now,” said House Appropriations Chairman Ben Harbin.
Jared Thomas, head of the Georgia chapter for the anti-tax group Americans for Prosperity, said an economic downturn was no time for a tax hike.
“Everybody knows you don’t tax yourself back into prosperity,” he said.

I met Mr. Rainwater and , I think you need to stop using a fake name because he is a good man. This is not your race this is Mr. Kimbrough and Mr. Rainwater. You are lying about Victor and Mr. Rainwater. You are trying to throw off the voters but, this won’t work. Why don’t you just pick your candidate like I did.

And I agree about that other idiot who is trying to throw voters off by saying Rainwater and Hill are friends or whatever. Totally untrue because Victor Hill HAS NO FRIENDS!!! LOL!
Plus hasn’t Victor made it abundantly clear during his term that he doesn’t like white people? Rainwater may not be white, but he looks white and I’d think that would be enough for Victor to dismiss him entirely.

I think Rainwater can not compare his security needs to Kem’s because he did not compete with Victor in the primary or a runoff… The general election will be very different because Victor should now be out of the picture. And for those of you who are concerned about a “threat”. The fact that Victor is MIA—doesn’t send any red flags up to you? Victor has not conceded and NO ONE knows where he is. He has shown on many occassions that he has no respect for the law and quite frankly I think he’s a little crazy. I am glad to know that Clayton PD would protect Kem and his family for now until Victor concedes or at least shows his face. It’s true the race for sheriff is not over, but with everyone being so happy about a the choices that we made on Aug 5th, was it not fair to assume that the same 51% of the voters would return and vote for Kem on Nov 4th? Kem has put a lot on the line for the citizens of Clayton, but should he leave himself and his family out there for Victor to prey upon? I think the only mistake Kem made was telling the media about his security detail. Hopefully, he’s learned a lesson about what he shares with the media. Clayton County is trying to heal. Don’t let Rainwater distract you from what you know to be true. He just wanted to be on TV. He could care less about tax payer dollars. If something happens to Kem or his family, I want you all to remember this post. Victor please concede—-you lost. Now it’s time to be a man about it.

I do not hide behind nicks on any blog or any website, this is my first time on this blog an from what I seen most bloggers have used nothing but Racist and very Hateful comments in their post, maybe because they are many bloggers has a special interest or stake to what is said or maybe closed to many Crooked Elected Officials that Lee/Jewel Scott put into office or their friends that has being trying to take over our wonderful county we all live in. These people do not care about us or children since they are all self serving idiots that only spews this type of Hate and Racist comments of garbage.
There are Racist and Bigots that’s in all cultures not just one or the other, we as people have to live and work together to make our communities more safer, and vibrant, with good smart growth, as we are all human.
To BB and Phaedra Graham, I am a one half Native American and everyone knows that I was born with both sexes (Hermphaite) by which I could not help that fact, just like what ever physical deformity you may have. If you read your old history my medical problem came from my Native American Heritage as every tribe called this by a different name.
But of course this was used against me on the day right before the Election in Nov. 2007 by Lee/Jewel Scott cronies an their Attorney Michael B. King (Elected to our School Board District 4 in 2008) that filed a frivolous lawsuit saying I committed Gender Fraud which by Georgia Law there is no such law, and the case was thrown out.
As it is ashamed that they did not attack me on anything I did for the citizens of Riverdale as to my job performance but only on gender, which has nothing to do with ones job. I really care about people and my county and the city that I live in. I am proud of what I done for the citizens and my city I served for 4 years as a public servant doing them bad times of the Ex-Phantom Mayor Phaedra Graham (By the AJC Editorial Board) with her campaign contributors of Lee/Jewel Scott, Attorney Michael B. King and many other of the Scotts that it appeared she offered them jobs within the City as they it appeared that they all was trying to overthrow the Riverdale City Government at that time and then they fund it their plan would work so they made the same more to get Elected in to our County as District Attorney, Solicitor General and Sheriff, and then that did not stop them as they wanted more power over our county as they put their close friends to the commissioners seat and evolved in other Elections in our Cities and School Board here in our wonderful County we all live in.
With that being said as I am a citizen of this County an not a Elected Official no more, so if someone attacks me by using slander and racists epithets or uses my name, I will file to the courts to get everyone’s ISP’s from the AJC as it does not matter what nick you use then I will file a lawsuit against the person that made Racist epithets or slandered me in any form or fashion.

I think Jack Rainwater is a hypocrite because he said that he ran on the reublican ticket to give Clayton an alternative in case Victor won in the primary. Now, that Kem has beat Vitor, he’s acting like he really wants to be sheriff. I think Victor is paying him to sabatage Kem. Jack started out trying to run as an independent and was unable to get enough signatures to do that. Then, he decided to run Republican because the “democratic race was to crowded”. Voters, Jack has never worked in a Sheriff’s office. So what does he know about serving warrants, securing the court and running a jail? Please do me a favor and ask him when you have the oppurtunity. Jack do Clayton a favor and go somewhere and sit down. You are already bringing negative media here and we thought we were on the road to recovery.

Charlie, Jan, Terry and whoever else. Answer the question….has Jack Rainwater ever worked in a sheriffs office or department? All “law enforcement experience” is not created equal. PD and SO serve different purposes and have different roles as it relates to law enforcement. A podiatrist and cardiologist are both doctors, but which one would you want doing your heart surgery? I have met him and he is nice, but he is not who I want to represent the county moving forward. We do not have time for him to learn how to be the Sheriff. Jack needs to stick to being a rent a cop.

I liked this comment here. I still have not made up my mind, but this is something to pause and think about.
An early poster stated:
“I also had seen the Rainwater interview and saw it as a legitimate question.
Looks like another publicity stunt at the expense of tax payer’s dollars.”

Looks like we are stuck with Jessie Goree and John Trotter. Be advised. Even though we will have a brand new school board when the dust settles, there will still be board members in bed with special interest groups, like John Trotter, and others. We will have to be dilligent in policing them. Parents have to be present at school board meetings and demand to be involved with their decisions.

I think she will not be good for the board because I feel that if a policy she approves of doesn’t pass, she will not let the issue die. I see her as being someone who always believes they are always right and those who disagree with her are wrong. I hope for the children’s sake that I am wrong. Can’t wait to see who wins the District 5 seat in November.

I really Doubt that Attorney Michael B. And this was the same Attorney that filed all them frivolous lawsuits against the City of Riverdale and Michelle Bruce that had more courage to stand up and fight against these crooked Elected Officials an cronies of the Scotts with the deck stacked against them.

And now like those idiots on the school board he has decided that he really wants to be Sheriff. So if he will lie about that he will lie about anything. He does not even own, I said own, property in the county. He lives in a apartment, so where is his “real” home? We keep elected these guys that have no idea what the Sheriffs job is. Kimberly and OTHERS I moved to CC 17 yrs ago, to one of the better HOA communities. Somehow it went from a prosperous, one of the lower crime areas in the metro area, good shopping and food, to high crime, foreclosures, section 8, busing and people not paing or working to keep up their communities. Do you remember when we made fun of Atlanta, Fulton and Dekalb counties!? What happened is that we elected those who have NO expierence or idea how to run a business let alone a county (which is what it is). I work extra to put my son in private school, because I care! I vote for those who have the expierence and know how to get everything back on track. NOT THE COLOR OF THEIR SKIN! How can I raise my son where he is in the majority (METRO AREA), to be open minded and fair, if he should move to where he is a minority like most other areas of the country!? the overall quality of the comments on this blog is breathtakingly, jaw-droppingly awful. To start with, the apparent familiarity of some bloggers with written English varies between “slim” and “none.”
Second, too many bloggers think that name-calling is an effective substitute for logical thinking. Third, fact and opinion are two very different things.
One blogger actually had the nerve to impersonate Phaedra Graham, yet does not know how to spell her name.

I attended every forum that Rainwater was involved in. He said he was running to give the people a choice in November, and as a last line of defense, not just to get victor out but, to keep the wrong person from getting in. I was also at the debate at the CCPD, along with Tasha Mosley, Eldrin Bell, Tracie Graham Lawson, Jonesboro Concilman Roger Grider, Commissioner Edmonson, Chuck Ware and a room full of Clayton County Citizens-This was the Thursday before the run-off. Kimbrough closing statements was that he did not need body guards and unlike Victor, he would not be a media hog and bring bad publicity to Clayton County. Well, Thursday 08/07/08, After he won his parties nomination, He has had one WSBTVs appearance to show off the body guards afforded at tax payers expense, as well as his bullet proof vest. Hey Rod Johnson how’s that SACS complaint you filed working out for ya? Oh that’s right, it blew up in your face as now you’ve had to resign in total disgrace, as even the board’s own attorneys won’t defend you.
You see Rod that’s the thing about KNOWINGLY hiring an accused child sexual predator to work for the board; there is no defense. No Rod, “I wanted to bully Gloria Duncan into accepting a new organizational chart that gave my wife a major promotion.” is not a legitimate defense for KNOWINGLY hiring an accused, (now indicted) child sexual predator as Duncan’s “bodyguard.”
And no Rod “My wife needs a promotion because we had to give back the money she got from illegally double dipping.” is NOT a legitimate reason to give your wife a major promotion.
Are you surprised no one wants to defend you? You shouldn’t be, as most people find it morally reprehensible to KNOWINGLY hire an accused child sexual predator to work for a board of ed. Most people find it extremely unethical to engage in illegal double dipping. Seems like you Rod are the only person in ClayCo who doesn’t get that.
Oh well, you can always fall back on that clerk job you won in the last election.
Oh that’s right, you didn’t run; seems that finally, even you figured out what complete, total, disdain your fellow citizens feel for you, when neither your detractors or supporters will go to bat for you.
Yep, it must be great being you as you make your way around the community knowing the contempt your fellow citizens have for you.
Yep, Rod Johnson the man who threw the ENTIRE system under the bus by lodging the SACS complaint. Turned out real well for you didn’t it Rod?
Are you happy yet?

It is amazing - Dead Poet - you give soo much credit and power to Rod Johnson in this SACS case. He was only one of many who contacted the SACS organization to report the dreadful antics of several of the BOE members.
And your, accused - and indicted wrong-doer - the case had been dropped by Jewel Scott - only to be brought forth from Trotter to Lee Scott to Jewel. But again that case has been dropped. No evidence.
Rod has gotten his just rewards - and we can hope the few left will get the same treatment. Especially Sandra Scott - what a poor excuse for flesh. Getting coaches fired, micro-managing school affairs, regularly cursing coaching staff, attacking a fellow booster club member with a tire iron, spreading vicious rumours and harassing people with whom she doesn’t agree. Add to that her lock-step with the deposed Noreese Haynes in BOE matters deems her ignorant, incompetent, unworthy and a total a$$.
Even is the remaining BOE members are removed - you will have someone to advocate - there are 2 new Trotter people and 1 Lee Scott person coming on the Board.
Heaven help those who will make up the new BOE - TO THEM - Please make the welfare and education of our children the reason you are there.

Federal Judge Asked to Seize Control of Clayton Co. Jail
Last Edited: Thursday, 14 Aug 2008, 6:57 PM EDT

CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. (MyFOX Atlanta) – A federal judge was asked Thursday to seize control of the Clayton County jail until a new sheriff can take office in January. Among the concerns is a recent health inspection inside the jail’s kitchen.
Attorneys for the Clayton County commission filed a motion in federal court to put the jail and the Sheriff’s department in receivership until Sheriff Victor Hill leaves office. The attorneys cited all the lawsuits that are costing the county money to defend and the low scores recently given to the jail by the health department.
Clayton County Chairman Eldrin Bell said that he had serious concerns about the health of the inmates in the jail.
Bell said it is important for the federal government to turn over control of the jail in light of the recent election results.
