Can Clayton lure new businesses?
A few new businesses are trickling into Clayton County. At a time when much of the attention is focusing on problems in the school system, it’s refreshing to learn new jobs are being created. Read my latest blog entry on Wordpress

Time to rally around Clayton teachers
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
I had a different blog written for this week, but instead I decided to give a shout out to those teachers who decided to stick with us.
The last time Clayton County Public Schools went on probation, we lost several experienced teachers. But according to Fox 5 News, nearly 91 percent of our teachers have signed on for another year.
Most who left CCPS were newer teachers. Thankfully, our children will have some continuity and recognize that everyone has not given up on them. One less thing for our kids to think about regarding the accreditation mess, as many worried about losing their favorite teacher(s).
What’s most important is having educators in place that care about and know our children, and that our kids who value their education get to work with teachers they are familiar with.
It is also crucial that parents and the community as a whole get involved (and stay involved) in CCPS, the PTA and the Board of Education so that we are never again shut out of decisions regarding our school system.
While many are trying to flee Clayton and those who have already fled (or never lived here in the first place) twist the knife and enjoy the show, it is a blessing that these teachers are staying to give our children some stability, especially if we do lose accreditation.
But educators can not accomplish this alone. We must do our part on July 15 by voting in five new school board members who will put the students first.
Clayton, let’s rally around our teachers! Whether accreditation is lost or not, CCPS needs all the parental and community support they can get to help rebuild the system from the inside out.

I agree. These teachers are doing their best in a difficult situation.
It is not their fault the board is a dysfunctional nightmare..
May God bless them and the students and residents of the county.
Clayton county will get back on track, too many have sacrficed for our freedoms to let our opportunities slip away - let’s elect the right people this time around…
Clayton County has so many advantages and should be model community…

One way that we can support our teachers is by not letting them be victimized by disrespectful students. I patrol the hall at one on the high schools in Clayton County, and the language that you hear so many students hurling at teachers is appalling! A student will not hesitate to insult and dowmright threaten a teacher. Our community needs to let students know that this type of behavior will not be tolerated at all! There teachers are not there to be the students ‘Whipping Boys’ they are there to teach. An environment must be fostered that will allow for that to happen. Parents, start teaching your kids that teachers are to be respected!

Yes, THANK YOU Teachers! I wish to help make Clayton County Schools an example to others that with support and community involvement, the system can become one of the best. And I wish the system to be so good that teachers will want to teach in Clayton County. I am encouraged by the number of people who qualified for the school board and I am eager to see change. This is a start.
Having said that, I too am concerned about our teachers and the disrespect they receive from students (and some administrators). Given that not all parents have the same views of respect most of us do, what steps can we take as a community to assist our teachers and administrators in ensuring that the respect and discipline is in our schools - as well as safety. Now, I know there are things such as the Teacher’s Bill of Rights, etc. but those are only as good as the paper they are written upon. They are great ideas but it’s the enforcement of them that is the problem. More needs to happen and putting it back on the parents isn’t the answer because the fact remains some just don’t care enough what their child does. What is it that you teachers need from us and your administration, your supporters?

As a fellow educator, I applaud the teachers that are sticking it out. I can honestly say that if I were in their positions I would be gone.
I spent the first 10 yrs of my career teaching in Dekalb county and have recently made the switch to Gwinnett. I have read all the stories..followed all the news and continuously PRAY for the best for the people of Clayton county. It is very unfortunate, but what concerns me the most is the fact that the voices of the most important people..the STUDENTS..are not being listened to by the board.
Best wishes to you all!

Thank you all teachers who re-upped for another year.
We will get a new school board before fall. If we can do away with the teachers unions and let the teachers teach without having to put up with unnecessary restrictions on disciplining students who misbehave and disrupt the classrooms we can truly have the best schools in the country.
Let’s start by cleaning ALL of the illicit drugs out of the schools and locking up any student, teacher, or administrative employee who brings them into the schools. Then let’s allow the teachers to provide a little corporal discipline to the children without fear of lawsuits or parental interference.
Schools are places where teachers should be able to teach, and students should be able to learn. Anyone who wants to disrupt that should be removed quickly and publicly so that those who want to interfere with the learning process can learn that that type of behaviour will only bring pain and disgrace upon themselves and their families.
Some kids won’t learn from this type of program, but, someones got to cook the french fries and/or dig the ditches.

First of all, thanks to those who pray for Clayton Schools and support us as teachers.
What parents can do to support schools:
1) VOLUNTEER! Ask to walk the halls, be a room parent, help supervise at lunch, etc. If daytimes are not good then make sure you attend Open House, Conference Night, etc. (ESPECIALLY as they get older…high school students need this sometimes more than younger students).
I strongly encourage every parent to take a day off of work (just one day) and shadow your kids. No matter how old they are. I did this with my niece who is in middle school and it works wonders for building relationships with the school/teachers. Make sure you coordinate your visit with the school ahead of time. Don’t tell your child you are coming! Just pop up. 2) JOIN PTSA and attend meetings. If your school does not have a PTSA start one! 3)Remember that teachers and parents are allies in our students’ education.
I grew up in a community that had much less diversity and less resources than Clayton County. We had a great school because the parents were INVOLVED. PTA meetings would be packed wall to wall with TEACHERS and PARENTS (and it was high school!). Parent involvment makes the difference (research supports this) NOT race or how much money you have/don’t have.
I work with some GREAT parents who are very supportive and involved in their child’s education. Most of them work during the day BUT they communicate with me frequently.
We have great kids and it is an honor for me to teach you children. They deserve our very best so let’s give it to them!

When are people going to learn there aren’t any teacher unions in Georgia? There are only organzations and associations, and these do not have collective bargaining powers. Teachers can’t strike like they might with a real union, because our right-to-work status would mean that a lot of people would be out of a job. MACE might be a different situation in Clayton, due to the rampant nepotism and cronyism, but getting rid of groups like PAGE and GAE won’t make teachers’ jobs any better or easier.

What can parents do about the bad language directed at teachers (and other students)? DEMAND that the school administration enforce behavior standards! Go visit the school (you can do this, but sign in) and take a tape recorder! Play the recording for the AJC reporter, for the TV news media, for the school board! Put it on youtube! Keep on pushing until students are required to speak in a respectful manner! Make a stink! Parents have a great deal more power to stop this obscene behavior, but sometimes you have to make serious waves!
By catlady
May 5, 2008 2:32 PM | Link to this
One other suggestion: file a sexual harrassment lawsuit. Many of the obscenities you hear are sexually or racially based. Your child does not have to be in a harrassing environment, and the school is responsible for ending it—even if it means suspending half the student body until the point is made: when you walk in the door of the school, these are the things that will NOT be tolerated.

JDR well I am not nasty but oh I can be but I am not putting myself down on your level, that’s what been going on for an long time now, as I just report what is out there on what other people in Clayton County has been saying as I can care less because I heard that every time I go a get my nails or hair done, as my husband even heard it, so if you do not like it then I am sorry. So please if you want to talk about terrorize I can say that any Organizations like Mace and people that belongs to them does that because they care not about no one but themselves and surely not the kids. As for my kids go they do not do what you claim as my kids are discipline when they are do things wrong, as me and my husband are very close to our kids then you must be JDR as we know where our kids are and what they do.
As you speak of the boot, well there are many different party affiliations and by the way me an my husband are not no liberal Democratic Party member and I can care less about your statement about me or the people on the boot that we losing our credibility which we are not, as we blog just like you do here and we can say the same about you and this blog with the issues you seem to have here.
I am just one of the normal Clayton County Citizen that speaks out on all these Crooks we have here in Clayton County that is Elected into Office that is self serving and organizations that does the same thing, I am fighting and well always do so because I am most of the boot people are normal citizens tired of our County going down the crapper and Tax Money being wasted. We the Citizens are tired of all it all and we do not care as the old saying is ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. As I know this might tick you off but who cares I am going to do everything I can as in talking and writing to the State and all the legislative delegation to make laws against any type of Organizations trying to influence any Elected Official on any School Board as I do not care whom they are. As it will be very easy now to try to get something passed because of what our school system is in now.
So now please come back and Attack me more please JDR.

I see where the Big Guy at the school office is trying to shake things up. Everytime shake ups occur, money changes hands. More consultants. >>> Shame on YOU, Lawyer Boy! Shame on YOU, thou holy one who likes to waggle your finger in the face of others, hollering, “Shame on you!” I know that the county has changed, but we have to embrace change, not fight it. Quit looking for convenient scapegoats. Pray for your “enemies.” You are actually on my prayer list. I am praying for the judges too. They probably think that they are in desparate straights. Things are not as bad as they look. And, Jer, I apologize to you for responding back to you in the similar spirit that you attacked me. I am a Daddy too. My children look up to me too. And, I simply do not stand by idly when someone calls any one of my friends a “buffoon.” Just my thoughts. Have a good day. >>> Hillary by 9 to 13 in Indiana. Obama by 3 to 5 in North Carolina. Hillary continues her push into the proverbial smoke-filled room of the Democratic Converntion. Obamba finally eeks out the nomination, but at a great price, perhaps too damaged to win in 2008. But, hey, this is probably what Bill has in mind. Then, he runs Hillary again in 2012! >>> Michelle/Virus Data/Boot/Paparazzi, why get so upset that people know who you are? “Don’t go the way of Soren” is still a saying in Denmark today. He refused the last rites from the State Church of which his own brother was a priest. “On Fear and Trembling,” baby, “On Fear and Trembling.” Just a thought for you, Virus Data. “Don’t go the way of Soren.” Look up Will Campbell. I don’t even know if he is still living, but he is/was a cheerful “b*******,” as he calls/called himself. His Brother To A Dragonfly is a nice tome on which to start. Lembra, Meu amigos e minha amigas: “We’re all b******* but God loves us anyway.” >>> By the way, Mississippi Home Boy, you are just too petty and too personally amibitious to be a good superintendent (although you are a snappy dresser like the Big Guy), but you’d be pretty much like all of them. Oh [sigh], for the days of Earnest Stroud — well, at least for the white folks. White folks had it made back then. Gone With The Wind. White folks have about as much chance of getting an administrative job with the Big Guy’s school system as Black folks had in the Bulldog’s days. Remember Henry G. Only Eddie White had an administrative job for many years, but Mr. White was considered “Chick fil A” safe — just the opposite of Dr. Glenn Dowell and Lee Scott, of course. Dr. John Trotter was always considererd “a dangerous white boy.” Not because of violence or illegal activities, but because of the power of the printed word. (Perhaps ole Jer thinks that Trotter is “Nat Turner Trotter.” Yeah, he’d be a good scapegoat.) Now, we are going through the Days of Reconstruction, and there is plenty of stress to go around for all. One of these days, the developers will lust after our northern neighborhoods (anything above Hwy 138 and near the Airport) and will dump a lot of money into campaigns. The areas will be zoned for high rise condos, and rich white people will move back into Clayco. But for now: “Hmph…D’ay ack like d’ay won the war.” >>> “Oi” a uma mulher linda e doce em Estella Maris. Beijos.

My children are grown and out of school however, I am still a part of the school system. My grands are in Clayton County Schools. You guys truly have one of the most difficult jobs. Just a point of clarification:
I am not DJR or whoever you think I am from a previous blog. Those are my actual initials and I’m new to this blogosphere.
In fact, I have no horse in this race and I am not affiliated with any group or party. (Vehemently non-democrat and non-republican…I have contempt for both parties and am disgusted with what they’ve done to our country.)
It’s just fascinating to me what people write under the cloak of anonymity. People’s writing tells SO MUCH. Like JT is very educated and enjoys taunting the masses. Quite humorous to me, actually. On the other hand, VirusData is not very intelligent in the “book sense” as the writing is poor and the haphazard accusations border on libel. (I’d watch out for a lawsuit if I was you, honey.)
Other than paying for the internet connection, this is pretty cheap entertainment.

I’m curious about this business of requiring everyone to reapply for her/his job. Legality questions aside, this cannot be good for central office morale. Sure, they’re a few steps removed from the students, but I’m sure bad morale will trickle down.
More importantly, the accreditation problem is focused not on the administrative staff of the school system but on the board. What is Thompson hoping to accomplish with this?
Oh, and I prefer Schleiermacher to Barth (probably because I grew up fundamentalist, which is Barth taken to excess). I’m very fond of our melancholy Kierkegaard, though—I would have liked to have known him. I did some SK study at Candler/Emory under Tim Jackson, barely scratching the surface. I still go back through and puzzle over Either/Or.
I’m going to miss Clayton State. This has been a poignant year for me, teaching Critical Thinking in the school where I actually took the class (back in 91 as a joint enrollment student, yikes). I enjoyed the students—I’m interested to see how the campus changes now that dorms are part of the equation.
More posts are needed like those from “Clayton and Community Member,” which gave concrete, specific ways that parents can support the schools and teachers. I remember when I worked at the Clayton Neighbor and used to read to kids at Fountain Elementary once a week—a small thing, but every student should be exposed to Bunnicula. More mentors are needed, and they don’t have to be parents. Community members who don’t have children or whose children are grown can also be helpful catalysts in students’ lives. Is there still a mentoring program in the school? I know the Chamber of Commerce was working on implementing one back in 96-97—is it still there? If not, it needs to be brought back!

Shannon,
I am not aware of a mentoring program currently in place, but I feel it is sorely needed. I especially would like to see a mentoring program implemented for high school seniors to be mentored by college freshman and sophomores. Anonymously Anonymous—I agree that this would be a great program, with one change—I’d make it high school juniors instead of seniors! The summer between the junior and senior year of high school is when the college process needs to officially start, and the year prior is when I’d have mentors talking about their experiences.

Ericka Davis was the first to meet the demands of the citizens, in spite of the fact that she did not want to leave the district in a mess. Ms. Davis has bowed out gracefully and I think is deserving of some respect. If you want to point fingers and discredit people, point them at Noreese Haynes who seems bound and determined to force voters to swallow his methodologies and practices in spite of what is best for Clayton students.

For anyone who believes that Mr. haynes got a raw deal, here is an exerpt from the Marrietta Police Department offense report on December 5, 2007:
ON 12-2-07 AT 0414 HRS WHILE ASSIGNED TO MORNING WATCH ZONE 1 I RESPONDED TO THE AUTUM VIEW APARTMENTS #H-5 LOCATED AT 1035 FRANKLIN RD REFERENCE A DOMESTIC DISPUTE. UPON ARRIVAL I MET WITH JUAN GREEN WHO ADVISED THAT HE HAD BEEN ASSAULTED BY HIS LIVE IN BOYFRIEND OF 5 YEARS. MR GREEN ADVISED THAT HIS BOYFRIEND, NORRESSE HAYNES HAD COME HOME AROUND 0300 ON THE INCIDENT DATE AND CONFRONTED MR GREEN WHO WAS ASLEEP IN THE BEDROOM. MR GREEN SAID THAT MR. HAYNES WAS YELLING ABOUT CONDOMS MISSING FROM THE BEDROOM. MR GREEN STATED THAT HE FELT MR. HAYNES HID THE CONDOMS PRIOR TO STARTING THE ARGUMENT.
MR. GREEN STATED THAT MR. HAYNES SLAPPED HIM WITH AN OPEN HAND TO THE RIGHT SIDE OF HIS FACE CAUSING REDNESS AND BLEEDING WHICH I OBSERVED AND PHOTOGRAPHED. MR, GREEN SAID THAT ONCE ON THE GROUND, MR. HAYNES BEGAN STRANGLING HIM AND MAKING THREATS.
John Trotter, if Mr. Haynes had been living with this guy for 5 years and they were living in Marrietta, how in the world could he represent clayton county? Last time i checked, the counties are about 35 mile away from each other. John Trotter, I will not pass judgment on Mr. haynes’ alternative lifestive or sexual orientation. John Trotter, what Eldrin Bell and this community take exception to is how this guy defrauded the voters and paid him a salary for over a year when he was living in Cobb County with Juan.
i hope that this community does not let you destroy us again by electing other trotter puppets like alieka (MACE MEMBER) Glen Dowell and some of these other clowns you are running. FYI people, Trotter’s strategy is to disassociate himself from his candidates, hoping that we will not see through his plan. Lets scrutinize these candidates.

Thank you EC for that post.
For the record (and for those who have asked me directly in person and online) I spoke with my AJC editor about this problem, and hopefully someone will be monitoring this blog more often and carefully.
May I suggest that those who really want to talk about Clayton’s issues intelligently, and not use this blog to further their own personal agenda(s) (whatever they may be), to completely IGNORE these rambling rants that say the same thing over and over again, week after week. They accomplish nothing more than taking away from the blog and turning readers off.
For the record, I’d much rather have a boring blog than what it has turned into lately, people arguing about stuff that can’t be changed and probably doesn’t matter, and spewing hateful rhetoric that will not change anything.
I want to thank those who contribute positively to this blog and hope that you will continue to post here. I do appreciate you.
I would also like to suggest using the “Comment Removal Request” area above if someone posts something offensive, and emailing/writing/contacting the AJC editors to let them know how you feel about the negative and at times, ridiculous posts on here. Maybe if the powers that be at AJC hear it directly from you as readers, they will take more action.
One last thing and sorry this post is so long - I am sure the purpose of the person(s) who keeps posting this “stuff” is to keep us all distracted and confused about real issues going on in Clayton County. Don’t take the bait.

After attending the annual “Retirement Banquet” for Clayton County Staff members in some beautiful surroundings last evening, my feelings were bittersweet. We all wish that we could be ending a career under somewhat better circumstances. Each presenter seemed genuine in his or her thanks for a “job well done” and many employees felt that sense of closure, as I did. At this time my hopes and prayers are for the many employees of this system who are capable and diligent and care about making changes in children’s lives and are not concerned about their own agendas and how things “look”! To some wonderful teachers in Clayton County, those that have taught my children and those that I have worked with: —-thank you very much!

We need to make it easier to get rid of those students that are labeled ’ Special Ed’, but are not. We have a lot of students that do what they want to do because they are labeled ‘Special Ed’. They do not go to class. They do not follow instructions. They are nothing but a whole lot of problems. It takes tons of paper work to get them into the proper school setting. It is a nightmare to get rid of those kids!

Ray:
Those students are labeled “Special Ed” because no one really wants to work with them. My five-year old is having some behavioral problems, and teachers have tried to say that she has everything from ADHD to autism. I took her to a psychologist and he diagnosed her with post-traumatic stress disorder. Many of these kids are going through the same thing, but post-traumatic stress is not recognized or considered necessary to treat. These kids are acting out as a means of coping with pain, grief, anxiety, and loss. It’s great that you point out the problem, but your post did not offer a solution. These kids can’t just be thrown to the side. I would like to see a program developed toward behavior-modification activities for children with post-traumatic stress.

Hate to break it to you, but just because a teacher re-signs, that doesn’t necessarily mean that the teacher will be here come fall. Some might well be looking elsewhere—and if they find a job, they may gladly exit from the contract. Many counties require teachers to re-up in order to guarantee themselves a fall job (if they don’t, they’ll find themselves without a position).
I don’t mean to be “gloom and doom,” but I do want to see how many of the 91 percent are here in August.
So my next question is back to the specifics. What can be done to support the teachers? I’m sure they want more than an attagirl or attaboy and a thumbs up. “Yay, teachers!” doesn’t really do much for anyone. What do they need?

Also, please, please, citizens of Clayton County, do not vote on candidates based on race or party affiliation. That’s why the county is in a mess, because of that very reason. I voted for David Barton, (school board candidate 2006) who is white and a republican (I’m black and a democrat). If the majority of the citizens had voted for him, we wouldn’t have that idiot Sandra Scott representing district 9. Also, after doing my research, I think that Diana Nicholson, candidate for district 5 school board and Edward Rigdon, candidate for district 8 school board, are the best qualified candidates so far. Do your research people before voting. Also, visit the website www.give-em-the-boot.com Very informative

Is this the same lovejoy that pays $10,000 a month rental on a “community building”? The Master Mole was underground gathering information as The Master Mole found this out below.
PD & FD were on the scene of the Ellenwood tornado strike at 4:50’ish this morning and never left (from when the first call went out). Around 1:30 in the afternoon, victor and his grey Expedition load of goobers shows up and wants to venture into the stricken area to comfort the victims.
Now picture this, these poor people are either picking up their belongings from the yard or helping their neighbors pick stuff up. In prances victor and starts shaking hands and *HANDING OUT RE-ELECTION CARDS*. That is about as low as humanity can ever get.
Now don’t get me wrong here, the help from the front line S/O guys and gals was appreciated and served a purpose. But, that was so far out of line with any sense of decency I’m almost speechless (and that does not happen very often as you all well know). I wanted to get a photograph of this atrocity but was unable to do so as I had “real duties” to attend and could not get back to where he was in the subdivision at the time.
I’m sure by the end of the week it will be on his reelection and department website about how he was helping the little man (but only after a good nights sleep and lunch). And I’m sure his smiling face will be depicted talking to some victim of the tornado in front of a shambles of a home on the cover of the next “Sheriff’s Star” propaganda publication.
The man has no shame at all……
PS - To their credit, Pigors and the people there to actually work did a good job from what I saw. So don’t think I mean to dis the entire department, just the brainless goober at the head of the patch (and Gibson his tag along friend for the day).

All you do is sit and sling mud. Oh just maybe you have skeletons in your closet.!!! By the way, I am supporting Aleka Anderson for school board. What do you have to say about that!!!! And NO she is not involved with Trotter.!!!!!

Victor is scum. What I can’t believe is, he still have supporters. They must like poverty because, if he gets in again, that is where we are going to be in poverty, and broke. We are almost there. I also heard he has a house in Clayton County and don’t even live there. I don’t know how true that is but, I can believe that. As you all can see he only thinks about himself that is why we are in this mess now. Lets get him out on the street where he belongs. No better yet in jail for lying J. Scott do your job. Oh no you belong there with him crooks all of you. Just when you think the clowns have finished their mess ALL OF THEM, then here we go again. Suspension of the guy that he fired. How stupid is that. Shows, he has no brains.

Bob Hartley was in negotiations with the school board to secure their resignations. Rod Johnson would not commit to a date. He was successful in securing several.
I applaud Bob’s decision to withdraw from Glanton’s house race. That would have been a divisive campaign. Both men are up and coming stars in the county and they don’t need the wounds from a battle nor the scars it would leave.

“MACE dis-associates from Alieka A.” So we all know the kind of group this is and the damage they have done over the years to our schools and our Black children educational opportunities, but you are gonna trust them when they say the above. Think back - When all HELL broke loose 6 years ago - J.T. was quick to dis-associate from the 4 Hosrewomen of the apocalypse, all MACE members. At least now he knows a MACE connection is death to a BOE candidacy. J.T., hurry and have a falling out with Glen Dowell before it is too late.

Lil,
I have a great job making almost triple than most women make. Close to six figures so, put it this way, I don’t need a job. I am almost ready to retire. So don’t start saying things you know nothing about. I met Aleka and I had conversations with her about what she plan on doing for our kids and I was satisfied with her answers and the way she carried herself. I don’t have any kids in the Clayton County system, I have grand children in the county. You don’t know me. I always do my homework on anything I do in life, no matter what. Have you met Aleka? Believe me, she is not involved with Trotter. She is on her own making her way in life and kicking but as she goes up.
I am truly proud of her accomplishments and was very impressed speaking with her. Meet and Greets are a good way to get to know canidates. I go to them for that reason. Try it, you might like it. People, primary is coming up, DO YOUR HOMEWORK, meet these people so you can make a wise decision for our county. We need help, not EGO in office!!!!

Dumbo Bob Hartley read this quote. The talent of success is nothing more than doing what you can do well, and doing well whatever you do without thought of fame. If it comes at all it will come because it is deserved, not because it is sought after.

That Boy “Red” is really stupid! The citizens of Clayton are really in stupid. Rod Johnson put your school system in this SACS mess and he still sits on the board unopposed “NO RECALL”. Wisdom stands at the turn in the road and calls upon us publicly, but we consider it false and despise its TRUTH, we blindly pursue others.

Want to be a BIG MAN Bob Hartley, some advice. “The fool do think he is wise, but the wise man knows himself to be a fool.” By three methods we may learn wisdom: First, by reflection, which is noblest; Secondly, by imitation, which is easiest; and third by experience, which is the bitterest.” Why are always using the latter?

Words of wisdom to that Dummy Bob (Hardly a man)!”In order to succeed, your desire for success should be greater than your fear of failure.” “I don’t know the key to success, but the key to failure is to try to please everyone.” Especially those whites that keep pushing you out front. “A word to the wise ain’t necessary — it’s the stupid ones that need the advice.”

Red/Bob: Why did you make that sexist comment about what you make compared to most women make? Again, you have not provided any substantive information about Alieka. In fact, you cannot even spell her name properly. I know that she has a visible tatoo on her breast. This isn’t the reason why you are so turned on to her candidacy, is it? I didn’t think so. You probably assess that she might be able to get you a job in the school system.
