Can Clayton lure new businesses?
A few new businesses are trickling into Clayton County. At a time when much of the attention is focusing on problems in the school system, it’s refreshing to learn new jobs are being created. Read my latest blog entry on Wordpress

Christmas gone wild!
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
While driving, have you ever seen a dull light glowing up ahead and think to yourself, “Oh no, not another strip mall!”
Then as you get closer you realize it is not a strip mall at all (whew!), but someone’s home adorned in every Christmas light and/or decoration ever created! (Think Chevy Chase’s house from the movie, “Christmas Vacation.”)
I absolutely love Christmas and all of the stuff that goes along with the holiday. I particularly like the music from Handel’s Messiah, to traditional Christmas carols, to some modernized versions of old and new favorites.
But I especially love decorating. I collect angels and strategically place them all over the house, along with many other festive indoor decorations.
Don’t get me wrong, I would love to put lights and reindeer and all that kind of stuff outside of our home (in tasteful moderation, of course) but my husband is paranoid that a fire will break out.
I believe he worries that over time our home will slowly become the “Christmas Vacation” house. His theory is if you can see a house lit up like Wal-Mart more than a half mile away, it’s overkill.
My theory? Christmas only comes once a year, so why not go all out?
In the interest of compromise, I only put lights in the windows, around the fireplace mantel and on our Christmas tree. Many of my angels light up as well.
This year I’ve extended my window lighting spree to the lower level of the house, much to his dismay.
Do your neighbors (or anyone else you know) go overboard with Christmas decorating? Or do you just enjoy the season’s decorations no matter what?
(By the way, does anyone know where there will be a sing-along Messiah in the metro Atlanta area? I’d appreciate if you shared that info!)

t williams is having a special performance at Spivey Hall called “Rod Johnson-the messiah” featuring the hit “Silent Night”
No lyrics actually; just an agonizingly long, uncomfortable period of silence as t williams, in the role of chief apologist for Rod Johnson, is unable to respond to any of the DOCUMENTED evidence against Rod Johnson.
Don’t miss the encore, Rod and Celeste Johnson singing “We wish US a Merry Christmas, we wish US a Merry Christmas, we wish US a Merry Christmas and a double dipping new year!”

To Attn: Clayton Parents GIVE IT A REST! This is about Christmas decorations not the Board of Education.
Now, back to the subject at hand - I love to decorate, but I keep it inside with a few lights on the trees and shrubs outside. I still send Christmas cards to my family and friends to remind us that Jesus is the reason for the season.
Merry Christmas!

So Clayton Parent,
At what point do we “give it a rest” when it comes to people who will KNOWINGLY put children in harm’s way by KNOWINGLY hiring accused child molesters?
After the first child’s life is devastated? The second? The twentieth?
Sorry if I think THAT is a little bit more important that what kind of lights you want to put on a shrub.

Attn: Clayton Parents,
Your point is well taken and there are residents who are walking the walk and doing something about it quietly in the background. It’s only a matter of time. Speaking for myself, I appreciate your passion. It is great to see this while others seem content to sit by and watch.
However, many things good and bad can co-exist. Given the beating this County has received lately by some members of our school board, politicians, sheriff, DA, housing market, etc., there are still many things worth smiling and being greatful for. Let’s not forget how to appreciate those things also.

I too am p** off about the school board situation & plan to join in whatever action is necessary to get our schools back on track & oust these selfish board members.
That being said, nothing is going to be solved by December 25 so … I’d like for our family to enjoy Christmas because if CCPS loses accreditation, my kids are going to have a really rough couple of months coming up even though they have been working their tails off at school this semester. It may all be for nothing & believe it or not, the children know what’s going on too. this only puts added pressure on them that they don’t need.
Anyway, I live next door to the Christmas Vacation house! Christmas music spontaneously plays throughout the day and night. There are lights on every square inch of the house on the outside. I think I’d enjoy it a lot more if it weren’t right next door LOL! But overall I do enjoy Christmas & the real reason for the season as a whole so … I can deal with it for a month or so.
But if he doesn’t take all that down by the first weekend in January, we’re gonna have problems :-)

Attention Christmas lovers: With all do respect to your religion. Do some research. Jesus is not the reason for the season.

I love Christmas as well! I don’t do a whole lot of decorating though, at least not this year. Just don’t have the time.
But I do enjoy seeing other people’s homes all lit up and various decorations that some businesses do. Hopefully I’ll get to see the Christmas tree of lights thing at Clayton State Park before the season ends.

Happy Holidays, all.
inquiring minds see that Norreese Haynes does not live in the district he represents on Clayton County BOE.
inquiring minds want to know if Norreese Haynes is living at the MACE office of his employer and puppetmaster John Trotter.
inquiring minds say HO HO HO, you all!

Kathryn, people don’t need research for their personal convictions. It may not be for you, but for me and others, Jesus is the reason for the season.

Mr.Gerkin, Ignorance and suffering plague our world because personal convictions are not researched. Many people believe simply because someone told them to believe. I think doing so is very dangerous. With all due respect to Islam, Muslim extremist kill innocent people because of personal convictions. Historically Christians have done the same. Look at what Hitler did to Germany because of his personal convictions. Hosea 4:6 reads “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge”
A wolf in sheep clothing is still a wolf, but more dangerous.
If something has been packaged to appear to be something it is not, based on history, I think it is worth researching.
It is a fact that Christmas did not begin as a Christian holiday. And I doubt very seriously that Yahsua (Jesus is the name given to the historic Yahsua to honor Zeus) would celebrate Christmas.
